Eagles coach Doug Pederson said Ron Brooks will be their slot corner.
Brooks filled the role last season before tearing his quad in Week 7, forcing S Malcolm Jenkins to cover the slot the rest of the way. Brooks coming back healthy would allow Jenkins to play safety on all three downs. The Eagles added some bodies at corner this offseason, but it is still a big point of concern. May 23 - 10:50 AM

Eagles CB Ron Brooks agreed to take an $850,000 pay cut.

He reduced his salary from $1.85 million to $1 million and agreed to turn 2018 into an option year. The Eagles' slot corner to start last season, Brooks played 235 snaps before tearing his quad in Week 7. He received poor marks from Pro Football Focus for his coverage and won't be guaranteed a spot.

Eagles placed CB Ron Brooks on injured reserve with a torn quad, ending his season.

Originally reported with a knee issue, Brooks had to be carted off the field after going down with a non-contact injury. He will not return this year. S Malcolm Jenkins will spend more time covering the slot with Brooks out.

Eagles SCB Ron Brooks was carted off Week 7 against the Vikings with a right knee injury.

It was a non-contact injury for Brooks, who appeared to be fitted with an air cast on his right leg and was quickly ruled out for the game. He is likely out for the season. Malcolm Jenkins should cover the slot with Brooks out.

The Philadelphia Inquirer believes Eagles CB Ron Brooks is in the lead to start opposite Leodis McKelvin.

Brooks has seemed to have the edge since offseason practices, but the matter will be formalized in the preseason. Reporter Jeff McLane doesn't even consider second-year second-rounder Eric Rowe a candidate. If the season started today, Brooks would probably kick inside in nickel situations, with Nolan Carroll manning the boundary.

Ron Brooks has "consistently" lined up as a first-team cornerback in Eagles offseason workouts.

Signed to a three-year, $6 million deal this offseason, Brooks and Leodis McKelvin have legs up after playing for new DC Jim Schwartz in Buffalo. Brooks and McKelvin are working as the starters in base, with Brooks manning the slot in sub-packages. The boundary job opposite McKelvin in nickel is wide open with Eric Rowe, rookie Jalen Mills, and eventually Nolan Carroll (leg) in the mix.

Ron Brooks and Leodis McKelvin ran as the Eagles' starting cornerbacks at last week's voluntary workouts.

When the Eagles went into sub-packages, second-year CB Eric Rowe entered as the third corner, moving Brooks into the slot. Brooks and McKelvin may simply be getting the early nod because of their expertise with DC Jim Schwartz'a defense after playing for him in Buffalo, but Brooks was signed to a three-year deal despite playing only 54 defensive snaps last season.

Eagles signed CB Ron Brooks, formerly of the Bills, to a three-year, $6 million contract.

Brooks missed time with a concussion last year and was limited to 54 snaps. Philadelphia's cornerback play was lacking last season with starters Byron Maxwell and Nolan Carroll both receiving negative grades from PFF. Maxwell was traded and Carroll is a free agent so Brooks should see snaps as long as he can stay healthy. Brooks played under DC Jim Schwartz in Buffalo in 2014.

Bills coach Doug Marrone said CB Ron Brooks is "having a good camp" and could see an increased workload.

Brooks has shown well in Buffalo's first two preseason games. He's ahead of rookie Ross Cockrell as the No. 5 corner, but doesn't project for a major increase in snaps. Brooks should be limited to dime packages this season.

Bills CB Ron Brooks needs foot surgery and is out indefinitely.

With Stephon Gilmore (wrist surgery) also out for at least the next month, the Bills are awfully thin at cornerback. Brooks worked as Buffalo's dime back in Week 1. The Bills are currently not planning to place Brooks on I.R.

Bills CB Ron Brooks was spotted on crutches Monday.

Brooks played just 10 snaps in Week 1 as UDFA Nickell Robey came on as a nickel corner. It's a concern for a Bills' secondary that was already without both Jairus Byrd and Stephon Gilmore.

Bills rookie CB Ron Brooks (foot) was medically cleared on Monday.

Expect Brooks to practice Wednesday afternoon for the first time since breaking his foot in August. The fourth-round pick, who was slapped with the injured reserve "designated to return" tag, isn't eligible to play in a game until Week 9.

Bills CB Ron Brooks (foot) is making good progress as his broken foot is healed and he’s begun workouts on his own.

Brooks was placed on injured reserve at the start of the season and designated as the player to return to the active roster. He isn’t eligible to return to practice with the team until six weeks have elapsed, which would be October 17th, and can’t be added to the active roster for a game until October 31st, making the Bills' Week 9 game in Houston the first game he’d be eligible to dress and play.

Bills assigned the "designated for return" tag to CB Ron Brooks (foot surgery) on injured reserve.

Players designated for return are like those on the reserve/PUP list in that they must sit out at least six weeks. Brooks, a fourth-round rookie, was expected to be sidelined at least that long after undergoing foot surgery in late August.
