Giants GM Jerry Reese said the tight end position will "probably" be filled by committee.
Size/speed freak Adrien Robinson disappointingly failed to distinguish himself during the offseason program. "I think the jury is still out on who the No. 1 tight end is," Reese said. Robinson, Larry Donnell, Kellen Davis and Daniel Fells will all get chances to compete for various roles at training camp. It's looking like a fantasy black hole, especially with Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham dominating targets. Jun 23 - 12:37 PM

Giants TE Adrien Robinson has "failed to separate from the pack" at spring practices, where he's rotated with Daniel Fells, Larry Donnell, Xavier Grimble, and Kellen Davis.

"It's fully open right now to all five guys," said TEs coach Kevin Gilbride Jr., who wants Robinson to "develop his consistency," improve his "body control," and become a better "point-of-attack blocker." Per beat writer Jordan Raanan, Robinson did "flash a bit more," but "failed to blow away the competition." GM Jerry Reese may have to explore upgrading tight end before or during camp.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin has been impressed with TE Adrien Robinson in OTAs.

"I think (Robinson's) done a really good job, in terms of just learning again, not many mental errors," Coughlin said. Down to 270 pounds after ballooning to 285 last year, Robinson is attempting to lock down No. 1 duties. He's drawn consistently positive media reports since the G-Men reported for voluntary work.
Jun 5 - 7:59 PM

Giants TE Adrien Robinson admitted to weighing 285 pounds last season.

Dedication to his craft has been an issue since the Giants took a fourth-round stab on size-speed freak Robinson in the 2012 draft. But now that he's penciled in as the starting tight end, he says he's focused. Robinson is currently back down to 270 pounds, aiming to play at 265 this season, and understands the depth chart. "They laid a huge opportunity in front of me. I just have to go take it, make the most of it," he said. Robinson projects as the No. 4 option in the passing game behind Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham.

Adrien Robinson is penciled in as the Giants' starting tight end.

Tight end was a glaring hole on the Giants' roster heading into draft weekend, but GM Jerry Reese didn't draft a single player at the position. Robinson, a 2012 fourth-rounder, should get the first snaps at tight end this summer, barring a free-agent signing. (Jermichael Finley and Dustin Keller remain unsigned.) Robinson is a size-speed freak at 6-foot-4, 264 with 4.56 wheels and a mind-boggling 11-foot-3 broad jump, but has yet to prove he can stay healthy.

Coach Tom Coughlin called his tight end position "a question mark."

Coughlin predictably isn't ready to throw all his support behind injury-prone Adrien Robinson, an intriguing size/speed freak with zero catches in three career games. They're a strong bet to use a draft pick at the position, perhaps as early as UNC's Eric Ebron at No. 12 overall. New OC Ben McAdoo comes from a Packers scheme that featured the tight end in the passing game.

Giants third-year TE Adrien Robinson says he "definitely" sees 2014 as his breakout season.

"I hope so," he said. "It has to be this year." Robinson has been dubbed the Jason Pierre-Paul of tight ends by some in the Giants' organization due to his size-speed combination (6'5/269, 4.56). But he's been unable to stay healthy, and this summer might be Robinson's last to make an impression in New York. He currently sits atop the depth chart with Brandon Myers a free agent, but Robinson is going to have to go out and earn an offensive role.
Feb 11 - 1:31 PM

The Newark Star-Ledger names Adrien Robinson one of the main beneficiaries of Ben McAdoo's hiring as offensive coordinator of the Giants.

McAdoo coached the Packers tight ends from 2006-2011 and prefers big, athletic players at the position. Robinson fits that mold. He's 6-foot-5, 269 and ran a 4.56 forty at his Pro Day before the 2012 draft. Robinson battled foot and knee injuries this past season. Brandon Myers is an impending free agent. Robinson should be given an opportunity to earn a prominent offensive role.
Jan 16 - 11:51 AM

Giants TE Adrien Robinson will have a Monday MRI on his knee.

While covering the opening kickoff, Robinson took a hit above his knee and had to be carted off. He watched the rest of the game on crutches, suggesting a potentially serious injury. Robinson, a fourth-round pick in 2012, is an intriguing candidate to start for the Giants in 2014 if he can get his health right. Brandon Myers is an impending free agent.

Giants TE Adrien Robinson (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday night's season opener against the Cowboys.

Robinson didn't practice all week and remains without a timetable to return. He's still dealing with a foot sprain suffered in the preseason finale, but is already out of his walking boot and will avoid surgery. Bear Pascoe will serve the Giants' No. 2 tight end in Week 1.

Giants TE Adrien Robinson has been diagnosed with a sprained foot, but will avoid surgery.

Per coach Tom Coughlin, it's "not exactly" a mid-foot sprain, but Robinson is without a timetable for a return. Ostensibly, he's week to week, but Robinson might not take the field before October. The G-Men are now stuck with only Bear Pascoe behind Brandon Myers.

Giants TE Adrien Robinson injured his left foot in Thursday night's preseason finale.

Robinson was carted to the locker room early in the first half. He later left the stadium in a walking boot and on crutches. Robinson is expected to see a bump in playing time in his second season, but we'll have to wait on the diagnosis. Bear Pascoe will back up Brandon Myers while Robinson's out.

Giants TE coach Michael Pope expects Adrien Robinson to "absolutely" be on the field this season.

"If [he] can get the right things done, learn to read coverage, and get in the right place then I think [Robinson] can be very effective in the scoring zone," Pope said. Robinson was active for just two 2012 games, but is competing with Larry Donnell for snaps behind Brandon Myers. A 2012 fourth-round pick, Robinson will serve as an in-line run blocker and possible red-zone specialist.

Giants second-year TE Adrien Robinson has been "making some good progress."

"Robinson appears to have gone to the land of believers," TEs coach Mike Pope said. Robinson is expected to take over blocking tight end duties this season. He ran a 4.57 forty at last year's Combine. With Brandon Myers on a one-year deal, Robinson is an intriguing dynasty flier. He won't be a major factor in 2013.
Thu, Jun 6, 2013 06:31:00 PM

Giants GM Jerry Reese indicated that he expects second-year TE Adrien Robinson to be a blocking tight end.

Brandon Myers will be the pass catcher. Robinson, who was 6'5/269 coming out of Cincinnati, added over ten pounds during his rookie year. "The guy is 280 pounds, he ran a 4.57 at his Pro Day, and we think he can really develop into a terrific blocker," said Reese. "We’re expecting him to make a jump this season and ... give us some contributions as our big blocking tight end."
