NFL suspended Ravens S Christian Thompson four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
A 2012 fourth-round pick out of South Carolina State, Thompson appeared in just one game as a rookie -- playing special teams and failing to record a tackle. Thompson was dismissed from Auburn early in his college career for missing classes, though otherwise he's not known to be a serious character concern. Apr 1 - 1:56 PM

Ravens S Christian Thompson (knee) said he's fully healthy after being placed on injured reserve last November.

A 2012 fourth-round pick, Thompson was limited to special teams and didn't play a single defensive snap. He remains on track for OTAs, and is a candidate for an expanded role with Ed Reed's Ravens future up in the air.

Ravens placed S Christian Thompson (thigh) on season-ending injured reserve and signed S Anthony Levine from the practice squad.

Thompson was selected in the fourth round in last April's NFL Draft. He didn't register on the stat sheet during his rookie campaign and played zero defensive snaps. Levine was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Packers in 2010 and was among Green Bay's final cuts this year before latching on with the Ravens' practice squad.

Ravens agreed to terms with No. 130 overall pick S Christian Thompson on a four-year contract.

The Ravens appreciate Thompson's ability to play either safety spot in addition to his experience as a gunner and returner at South Carolina State. At 6'0" and 211 pounds, Thompson paced all safeties at the Combine with a 4.46 forty. He'll add much-needed depth behind Ed Reed and Bernard Pollard.

Ravens selected South Carolina State FS Christian Thompson with the No. 130 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

Ed Reed's fingerprints are all over this one as he's been mentoring Thompson through the draft process. He's certainly one of the fastest draft-eligible players at his position, ripping off a 4.41 40-yard dash at his pro day. Thompson started his college career at Auburn before earning All-Conference honors last season at South Carolina State.
