Packers DT Mike Daniels (hip) plans to return for Week 5 against the Cowboys.
Daniels is one of the NFL's most-dominant interior defensive linemen, so it's a big get for Packers DC Dom Capers' unit. In Green Bay's first two games, Daniels logged 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Oct 6 - 2:15 PM

Date:

Packers DT Mike Daniels (hip) is inactive for Week 4 against the Bears.

As are starting tackles David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga. They are major absences against a Bears team that sprung an upset of the Steelers four days ago. The Pack are missing their top five offensive tackles, a rather unbelievable fact. Also inactive are CB Davon House, RB Devante Mays, CB Lenzy Pipkins and DT Montravius Adams.

Packers DT Mike Daniels (questionable, hip) expects to be a game-time decision for Week 4 against Chicago.

Daniels returned to limited practice after sitting out last week. His presence would be a needed upgrade to the defensive line. Jordan Howard's matchup will be downgraded if Daniels plays.

Packers DT Mike Daniels (hip) has resumed practicing.

Daniels is trending in the right direction after missing Week 3, but the Pack might opt to hold him out against the lowly Bears.
Sep 26 - 2:05 PM

Packers DT Mike Daniels (hip) is listed as doubtful for Week 3.

It's a significant loss because Daniels is a game wrecker in the middle, and the Bengals' overmatched offensive line needs all the help it can get. Cincinnati's offense has some bounce-back potential in Sunday's trip to Lambeau Field.
Sep 22 - 3:42 PM

ESPN Packers reporter Rob Demovsky called DT Mike Daniels (hip) the team's "biggest concern" among injured players.

The Packers listed a whopping 13 players on their Wednesday injury report, including LT David Bakhtiari (hamstring), who didn't even play last week, but apparently is in better health than Daniels. One of the NFL's most dominant defensive linemen, Daniels' loss would be an upgrade to the Bengals' offensive outlook.

Packers DT Mike Daniels (hamstring) is considered day to day.

His MRI came back clean Monday. Daniels is one of the most underrated interior forces in the league, so this is great news for the Packers. Consider him questionable for now to face the Bengals in Week 3.

Packers DT Mike Daniels left Week 2 against the Falcons with a hamstring injury.

He's done for the night. Daniels also dealt with a hip issue this week, but this is a more serious injury. He could be looking at missing multiple games.

Packers DT Mike Daniels (hip) is expected to play Week 2 against the Falcons.

Daniels was a one-man wrecking crew against Seattle in the opener, but he picked up a hip injury this week in practice. He was able to work through the issue on Friday, however, and looks ready to go. Green Bay needs him against the Falcons' high-powered offense.

Packers signed DE Mike Daniels to a four-year, $42 million extension through 2019.

The deal includes a $12 million signing bonus and $22 million in the first 15 months. Daniels has recorded just four sacks this season, but he is a consistent disruptive force on the defensive line who lives in the opposing backfield. The deal deservedly makes Daniels the third-highest paid 3-4 defensive end in the league. Only 26, Daniels should still be near his prime when he is eligible for free agency again in 2020.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports DE Mike Daniels and the Packers have "made little progress" in contract negotiations.

A fourth-round pick in 2012, Daniels is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the season. The Packers reportedly view Daniels as their top free agent priority, but they have balked at paying the reported $10 million a year Daniels is after. Chargers DE Corey Liuget signed a five-year, $51.25 million contract in June, and Daniels can easily make the argument he is worth as much as Liuget.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports DE Mike Daniels and the Packers have broken off contract negotiations.

Daniels is reportedly looking for around $10 million a year, while the Packers' offers have been for several million less per season. $10 million per year would put Daniels in the same range as Corey Liuget, who signed a five-year, $51.25 million contract in June. An ascending player entering the final year of his deal, Daniels may decide to bet on himself and cash in next offseason.

Packers DE Mike Daniels is a candidate for extension.

Daniels was a 16-game starter for the Packers in 2014, recording 5.5 sacks and 24 hurries in 696 snaps. Scheduled to make $1.542 million in the final year of his deal, the Packers could offer Daniels more money this season while locking up an ascending player at a discounted price. Daniels will likely be a hot commodity if he reaches the open market next March.

Packers DE Mike Daniels is now a starter in base defenses.

Daniels quietly emerged as an up-and-coming stud last season, grading out as a top-six 3-4 end per PFF and posting 6.5 sacks despite playing on just 49 percent of the snaps. If he can get up around 75 percent of the snaps as the end complement to NT B.J. Raji, we're confident production will follow. IDP owners should be tracking Daniels' progress closely. He's a breakout candidate.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel believes third-year DE Mike Daniels is an "emerging star."

Daniels was drafted by Green Bay in 2012 as a questionable 3-4 fit at 6-foot-1 and 291 pounds, but has bulked up to 300 and in 2013 emerged as an impact player in both run and pass defense. Although he made just one start, Daniels played 49 percent of the Packers' defensive snaps and graded out as a top-six 3-4 end per Pro Football Focus. He finished with 23 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
