Chiefs placed OG Rokevious Watkins on the reserve/PUP list.
Watkins appeared in three games with Kansas City last season, including a Week 17 start against the Chargers. He was suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy earlier this month and will miss the first six games of 2014. The Chiefs signed TE Adam Schiltz in a corresponding move. NFL suspended Chiefs OG Rokevious Watkins four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Watkins served a one-game ban for the same offense last season. Drafted in the fifth round by the Rams in 2012, Watkins' career has been derailed by injuries and weight issues. He is running out of chances.

Chiefs signed OG Rokevious Watkins off their practice squad.

Constantly battling weight issues, Watkins is apparently in good enough shape to join the 53-man roster. The Chiefs are now using 10 roster spots on offensive linemen.

Chiefs agreed to terms with OG Rok Watkins, formerly of the Rams.

Watkins, 24, is worth a flier on a Chiefs line that's been bitten by the injury bug in training camp. He's a power blocker who needs to keep his weight down.

The Cowboys worked out free agent OG Rok Watkins on Tuesday.

The talented but conditioning-challenged guard was waived by the Rams last week. The Cowboys' interior line remains a trouble spot, so they'd have little to lose by taking a flier on Watkins' upside.

The Rams cut OG Rokevious Watkins on Wednesday because he reported to training camp overweight and out of shape for the second straight year.

Watkins has a lot of talent, but is blowing it due to a lack of self-control. The Rams had targeted 338 pounds for Watkins, and he reported "well over that."

Rams waived OG Rok Watkins.

A 2012 fifth-round pick, Watkins struggled with weight issues during his brief stay in St. Louis and was suspended for the season opener after violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. It's possible the Rams decided to cut ties because Watkins showed up to training camp out of shape. Chris Williams is the favorite to start at left guard, with Harvey Dahl returning at right guard.

Rams OG Rokevious Watkins has been running as the second-team right guard throughout OTAs.

Watkins figures to be in the mix for the starting left guard spot, but he hasn't seen many reps at the position. The No. 150 overall pick in last year's draft has been working on his conditioning this offseason, but he recently drew a one-game ban for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Former first-round bust Chris Williams and rookie Barrett Jones are also in the conversation at left guard.

NFL suspended Rams LG Rokevious Watkins one game for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

It's unclear why Watkins is suspended only one game, as substance-abuse violations usually draw four-game bans. It's an ill-timed suspension for a player penciled in as the Rams' left guard, but shouldn't cost Watkins his job. A 2012 fifth-rounder, Watkins was limited to 37 snaps as a rookie after suffering an ankle injury in Week 1. Rookie Barrett Jones and journeyman Chris Williams are the two most likely candidates to start in Watkins' absence.

Rams OG Rok Watkins' weight is "significantly down."

Watkins, a fifth-round pick last year, reported to camp 16 pounds overweight and was held out of drills. He then played in just one game before landing on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Watkins has "committed to getting in shape," and will be in the mix for a starting spot as a mauling run blocker.

According to, OG Rokevious Watkins (ankle) and S Matt Daniels (torn ACL) should be "ready to go" for the Rams' offseason program.

The No. 150 pick of last year's draft, Watkins reported to camp 16 pounds overweight, but played 37 snaps in Week 1. He was placed on injured reserve after missing Week 2. Watkins will compete for a starting job in camp, but should be one of many options at left guard. He has a ways to go as a pass blocker. Daniels is a pure special teamer.

Rams placed OG Rokevious Watkins (ankle) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Journeyman Quinn Ojinnaka started for Watkins in Week 2 after the rookie injured his ankle in practice. The Rams now have backups starting at every position on the offensive line save RG Harvey Dahl. Watkins is viewed as the future at left guard.

Rams rookie LG Rokevious Watkins (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 2.

The fifth-rounder out of South Carolina isn't much of a pass blocker but has showed some promise as a mauling run blocker at times. St. Louis linemen are dropping like flies in the regular season after emerging from exhibition and training camp action as one of the healthiest teams. Recently re-signed OL Quinn Ojinnaka will likely start in Watkins' place. Steven Jackson is going to have a tough time against the Redskins in Week 2.

Rams LG Rokevious Watkins missed Wednesday’s practice with an ankle injury.

Watkins was seen on crutches, and his status for Sunday’s game against the Redskins is uncertain. It's yet another blow to the Rams' offensive line after losing C Scott Wells (foot) and LT Rodger Saffold (neck) in Sunday's loss. The bad news continues to pile up for Steven Jackson, who averaged just 2.5 yards per carry in Week 1. He could have a hard time finding running lanes moving forward.
Wed, Sep 12, 2012 05:24:00 PM

Fifth-rounder Rokevious Watkins is "the most likely bet" to open the season as the Rams' starting left guard.

Watkins was drafted to be the future at the position, but it's a stretch to suggest that he's ready now after missing the beginning of training camp. Veteran Rob Turner is the fallback option. With a shaky Barry Richardson starting at right tackle, the Rams have two exploitable spots on the offensive line.
