Cowboys signed LB Korey Toomer, formerly of the Seahawks.
Toomer is a freakish athlete, but simply couldn't stay healthy at Seahawks camp. He's definitely worth a flier for the linebacker-needy Cowboys. Aug 31 - 3:35 PM

One week after calling third-year LB Korey Toomer the "hottest guy in camp," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll stated Monday that Toomer is "the brightest guy in the whole camp."

A 2012 fifth-round pick from Idaho, Toomer has yet to play an NFL down but could enter the mix to start at strong-side linebacker if Bruce Irvin's hip surgery shelves him into the season. Seattle's alternative would be to move WLB K.J. Wright to Sam, and start Malcolm Smith at weak side. Toomer weighed 6'2/234 at his 2012 Pro Day. He blazed a 4.53 forty with a Shazierian 42-inch vertical.

Seahawks signed LB Korey Toomer, WRs Phil Bates and Bryan Walters, CB Ron Parker, RB Derrick Coleman, DB Chandler Fenner, TE Cooper Helfet, LB Kyle Knox, and DT Myles Wade to reserve/future contracts.

Toomer is the most notable name after he was a fifth-round selection by Seattle in the 2012 draft out of Idaho. He was a workout specimen at his Pro Day, running a 4.53 forty and posting a 42-inch vertical. Parker bounced between the Panthers and Seahawks for much of the season. These nine guys will try to make the team out of camp this summer.

Seahawks selected Idaho LB Korey Toomer with the No. 154 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

A Pro Day warrior, Toomer ran a 4.53 forty and posted a 42-inch vertical leap while impressing in positional drills. He offered plenty of versatility as a senior while playing linebacker, defensive end, and even fullback which earned him second-team all-conference honors. Toomer missed his entire junior season due to injury and is a project for the Seahawks that will likely start his career on special teams.
