Rams re-signed K Greg Zuerlein to a one-year, $1.25 million contract.
Zuerlein was one of the worst kickers in the league last year, converting 66.7% percent of his field goals. He has the range to hit 50-plus yarders, but struggles with accuracy. Zuerlein will need to hold off competition to keep his job. Apr 15 - 5:56 PM

Rams coach Jeff Fisher expects competition at kicker if free agent Greg Zuerlein is re-signed for 2016.

Zuerlein was woeful in 2015, making just 20-of-30 field goals. For his career, he's now a 78.6 percent kicker, which is below the generally-accepted "acceptable" threshold of 80. Zuerlein has one of the league's biggest legs, but it's gotten progressively shakier throughout his four-year career.

Rams K Greg Zuerlein (illness) sat out Tuesday's practice.

He's dealing with an illness but should be fine for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Zuerlein missed two games earlier this year with a groin injury.

Rams K Greg Zuerlein (groin) has resumed practicing in full.

Barring a setback, Zuerlein will be back following a two-week absence. Fill-in Zach Hocker will likely be cut or sent to injured reserve on Friday. Hocker has a thigh injury.

Rams declared K Greg Zuerlein (groin) inactive for Week 13 against the Cardinals.

RT Rob Havenstein is back in the lineup. Also inactive for the Rams are CB Trumaine Johnson, QB Sean Mannion, OT Andrew Donnal, C Brian Folkerts, DT Ethan Westbrooks and DE Robert Quinn.

Zach Hocker will replace Zuerlein as the Rams' kicker versus Arizona.

Zuerlein appears poised to miss his second straight game. Zach Hocker is filling in.

Rams K Greg Zuerlein (groin) was limited in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Week 12.

He must have suffered an injury during Friday's session, because Zuerlein wasn't on the injury report Wednesday or Thursday. The Rams will have to sign a kicker before Sunday if it's determined that Zuerlein can't kick.

Rams K Greg Zuerlein missed a 38-yard field goal and mishit a kickoff that was returned for a 99-yard score in Sunday's Week 8 loss to the Chiefs.

"Greg the Leg" or "Young GZ" is no longer a thing. He's made just five of his last 14 tries from 50+ and is just 44-of-57 (77.2 percent) since Week 6 of the 2012 season. Fantasy owners need to find more reliable options in better offenses.

Rams K Greg Zuerlein now has two game-winning field goals in his two-year career.

Fantasy owners were sleeping on Zuerlein a little bit thanks to an inconsistent end to his rookie campaign. He still kicks in a dome, has perhaps the strongest leg in the league and the Rams' new spread offense is going to move the ball. Zuerlein went 4-of-4 on field goals Sunday, including the winner from 48 yards out to break a 24-24 tie. He'll be a solid fantasy option at Atlanta in Week 2.

Rams K Greg Zuerlein missed eight of his final 16 field goal attempts in 2012.

"Greg The Leg" took the league by storm early on in his rookie season, making his first 15 attempts -- including five from 50-plus. But he cooled off after that and ended up losing a Pro Bowl berth to Vikings rookie Blair Walsh. "Confidence is really big in kicking," Zuerlein said. "And any time you miss a field goal your confidence kind of gets shaken a little bit. But it's just something that you learn from and just keep moving forward."

Rams K Greg Zuerlein made two field goals from 50-plus yards out in the Rams' Week 13 overtime win over the 49ers.

This should snap Legatron out of his mini-slump. His 53-yarder sent the game into overtime and he then converted a 54-yard blast with ease to win the game. He's now 7-of-11 on field goals from 50-plus yards out and 21-of-27 overall. Zuerlein will be facing much more difficult conditions in Buffalo next week.

Rams K Greg Zuerlein missed three field goals in Sunday's Week 6 loss to the Dolphins.

Zuerlein missed from 52, 37 and 66 yards out. They are the first three misses of his NFL career. We wouldn't worry too much about Legatron's off day, and the Rams' inept red-zone offense should keep bringing him chances. Zuerlein trails only Lawrence Tynes in field-goal attempts this season.

Rams rookie Greg Zuerlein is the first player in NFL history with two field goals of at least 58 yards in the same game.

Discovered at small-school Missouri Western State, Zuerlein is perfect on 12 field-goal attempts this season. His big leg has earned him the nickname "Legatron" to go with "Greg the Leg" and "Young G.Z." If Zuerlein is available in leagues that award points for distance, he's worth picking up this week.
Tue, Oct 2, 2012 05:17:00 PM

Rams signed fifth-round K Greg Zuerlein to a four-year contract.

The 171st overall pick, Zuerlein was a historically accurate field goal kicker at Missouri Western State and isn't expected to face any competition for the kicking job in training camp. He'll benefit from the Edward Jones Dome.
