Updating an earlier item, Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane's knee surgery was to repair a torn ACL.
It's a horrendous break for Lane, who was already dealing with a "significant" broken arm. Lane suffered both injuries picking off Tom Brady early in Super Bowl XLIX. Lane is now highly doubtful for Week 1, and will likely begin the year on the reserve/PUP list, costing him six games. With RCB Byron Maxwell possibly leaving in free agency, the Seahawks may have to replace two of their top three corners. Feb 19 - 7:14 PM

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane (knee surgery) is questionable for Week 1.

Lane injured both his arm and knee in the Super Bowl. With Byron Maxwell set for free agency, cornerback has suddenly become a need position in Seattle.

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane has been diagnosed with a "significant" broken arm.

This was immediately apparent after Lane went down following his first-quarter interception in Sunday's Super Bowl loss. Specifically, Lane has a compound fracture in his wrist. Nevertheless, coach Pete Carroll expects Lane to be "fine" long-term. Lane's presence was badly missed against the Pats, as fill-in Tharold Simon struggled mightily in his place. A 2012 sixth-rounder, Lane is going into the final year of his rookie contract after a groin injury limited him to seven games in 2014.

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane was carted off the field with a left wrist injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Patriots.

He may have broken his wrist. Seattle's slot corner was injured at the end of a 14-yard interception return that killed a promising drive for the Patriots. The Seahawks announced Lane as doubtful to rejoin the action.
Feb 1 - 6:59 PM

Seahawks activated CB Jeremy Lane from injured reserve/designated for return.

Sidelined since Week 1, Lane has returned when first eligible. He'll add further depth to Seattle's secondary. Lane was the favorite for slot duties prior to going down and should see time in sub packages.

Seahawks placed CB Jeremy Lane on injured reserve/designated for return.

It's an underrated blow to Seattle's defense, as Lane was ticketed for slot corner duties before suffering a severe groin injury in last Thursday night's NFL opener. The Seahawks are also without sub-package CB Tharold Simon (knee scope). Post-preseason trade acquisition Marcus Burley will be forced into significant snaps behind starters Byron Maxwell and Richard Sherman.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll said CB Jeremy Lane (groin) will miss extended time.

Lane went down in the third quarter of Thursday night's opener. He should be considered week to week. Marcus Burley will continue to replace Lane as Seattle's nickel corner.

Seahawks nickel CB Jeremy Lane was forced from Thursday's game against the Packers with a groin injury, and will not return.

Lane had been battling the injury this week in practice before pulling up lame in the third quarter. Marcus Burley, a 2013 UDFA acquired from the Colts just last week, is now in the game in the slot.

Seahawks DC Dan Quinn named third-year CB Jeremy Lane the "leader" to be Seattle's nickel corner in 2014.

He's replacing Walter Thurmond III between LCB Richard Sherman and RCB Byron Maxwell. Lane played extensively when Thurmond was suspended last season, and graded out positively as a cover guy and run-support cornerback per Pro Football Focus. It's a big opportunity for Lane, as opposing offenses will likely target him heavily rather than testing Maxwell and Sherman outside.

Seahawks sixth-round CB Jeremy Lane reportedly performed so well in offseason practices that he's in the mix for sub-package snaps.

It's a bit of a surprise in that he was viewed as a project after starting just one season at small-school Northwestern State. Lane did arrive with "surprisingly good hip flexibility and speed" while improving his ball skills under NFL coaching during OTAs. Marcus Trufant and Walter Thurmond are considered the favorites for nickel duties.

Seahawks selected Northwestern State CB Jeremy Lane with the No. 172 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

Lane wasn't even a full-time starter for small-school Northwestern State until he was a senior, so he's a true project for the Seahawks, who continue to make some of the draft's most interesting picks. Lane is also shorter than current Seahawks starting CBs Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner, standing in at "just" 6-even. Lane will be a special teamer for the foreseeable future.
