Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane (questionable, knee) will play Week 12 against the 49ers.
Lane was a late add to Seattle's injury report this week, though apparently his knee issue wasn't anything serious. He'll see his usual snaps Sunday starting opposite Byron Maxwell. Injuries to Richard Sherman (Achilles), Kam Chancellor (neck) and Shaquill Griffin (concussion) have the Seahawks' secondary running on fumes. Nov 26 - 9:52 AM

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane (knee) is questionable for Week 12 against the 49ers.

It's a late addition to the injury report. Lane practiced fully the last two days, but his status is now up in the air. Seattle would be down to Byron Maxwell, Justin Coleman, and Neiko Thorpe if Lane sits.
Nov 25 - 8:45 PM

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane has failed his physical, and is no longer part of the team's Duane Brown trade with the Texans.

Lane has been dealing with a groin injury, and hasn't played since Week 4. With Lane's failed physical, the new terms of the trade are: Brown and a 2018 fifth-rounder to the Seahawks, a 2018 third-rounder and 2019 second-rounder to the Texans. Lane will return to No. 4 duties for the Seahawks once/if he gets healthy.
Oct 31 - 7:03 PM

Texans acquired CB Jeremy Lane, a 2018 fifth-round pick, and a 2019 second-round pick from the Seahawks in exchange for LT Duane Brown.

Seattle has to clear salary to fit Brown's contract on the books, and Lane, who makes $4 million this year, is part of that maneuver. Lane had been a serviceable corner for the Seahawks prior to this season, as he's struggled with some injuries and was demoted to No. 4 duties behind rookie CB Shaq Griffin and ex-Patriot Justin Coleman. Lane will be the No. 4 corner in Houston as well.
Oct 30 - 7:25 PM

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane (groin) is out for Week 7 against the Giants.

Seattle will be without their primary slot corner, giving Giants WR Sterling Shepard an easier matchup.
Oct 21 - 11:41 AM

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane (groin) is doubtful for Week 7.

Lane's absence helps the matchup for Sterling Shepard, assuming Shepard plays through his ankle injury. Lane covers the slot for Seattle on passing downs.
Oct 20 - 3:53 PM

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane (groin) has been downgraded to out for Week 5 against the Rams.

Lane never had a chance to play and is likely looking at a multi-week absence. Shaq Griffin will start opposite Richard Sherman, with Justin Coleman playing the slot in sub-packages.
Oct 7 - 5:06 PM

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane (groin) is doubtful for Week 5 against the Rams.

This doesn't come as a surprise after Lane missed practice all week. Lane's absence is an upgrade for Cooper Kupp, who runs most of his routes in the slot. Justin Coleman will replace Lane in subpackages.
Oct 6 - 6:10 PM

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane has a strained groin and is uncertain for Week 5 against the Rams.

Lane left Week 4 against the Colts and was immediately ruled out. If he is unable to play in Week 5, Justin Coleman would pick up more defensive snaps.
Oct 2 - 6:25 PM

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane left Week 4 with a groin injury.

Lane was immediately ruled out, suggesting it's a serious injury. Shaq Griffin replaced him opposite Richard Sherman.
Oct 1 - 8:52 PM

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Seahawks are gauging the trade value of CB Jeremy Lane.

The Seahawks are doing the same with RB Alex Collins and WR Jermaine Kearse. Expected to start opposite Richard Sherman, Lane is a much more surprising name, however. If this report is accurate, Seattle's willingness to move him suggests they are comfortable with third-round rookie Shaquill Griffin starting. Lane has three years left on his deal, but he can be cut with few cap ramifications after this year.
Aug 31 - 10:55 AM

ESPN's Sheil Kapadia considers Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane the clear favorite to start opposite Richard Sherman.

Lane was expected to face stiff competition from third-rounder Shaq Griffin, but has evidently seized control of the job. Per Kapadia, Lane has been "arguably the team's most impressive player through the first three practices." Lane wasn't great in the slot last year, but it's likely he'll kick inside in nickel situations.

Aug 1 - 6:41 PM

Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times believes CB Jeremy Lane has a "sizeable edge" in the battle to start opposite Richard Sherman.

Lane was not particularly good as a slot corner last season, but he earned praise from coach Pete Carroll for his work this offseason. He will need to beat out third-round CB Shaq Griffin and Neiko Thorpe for the job. Regardless of if he wins the "starting" job, Lane will be the primary slot corner in sub packages.
Jul 6 - 12:58 PM

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll confirmed Jeremy Lane is the early favorite to start opposite Richard Sherman.

"Jeremy has really applied himself," said Carroll. "He sees the opportunity. Across the board, everybody’s evaluation is that he’s really focused, really tuned in, he’s really ready to go for it." Lane is coming off a disastrious 2016, getting exposed as a tackler and grading near the bottom of PFF's ratings. Scheme familiarity and veteran status are working in his favor with Deshawn Shead (knee) sidelined. Rookie Shaq Griffin will push Lane in training camp.

Jun 16 - 5:31 PM

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane's $4 million salary became guaranteed on Friday.

Lane had a rough year for Seattle, grading out as PFF's 104th cornerback out of 120 qualifiers. Coach Pete Carroll criticized Lane's tackling, but praised him for competing his "tail off." With RCB Deshawn Shead's (knee) status up in the air for Week 1, keeping Lane was a no-brainer for the Seahawks.
