Vikings claimed G/C Mark Asper off waivers from the Bills.

The No. 178 pick of the draft, the 6-foot-6, 319-pound Asper was called "as big as a house" by Bills GM Buddy Nix. He's looking to make the transition from tackle to the interior.

Bills signed No. 178 overall pick C Mark Asper to a four-year contract.

Called "as big as a house" by GM Buddy Nix, the 6'6" Asper played tackle primarily at Oregon. The Bills view him as an interior player, most likely as a backup center.

The Bills will use sixth-round pick Mark Asper at center.

"We wanted to get another center," GM Buddy Nix said. "This old boy is as big as a house. He can play center and guard." Asper (6'6/321) played guard and tackle in college, but held his own at center in a pre-draft all-star game. He'll vie for a backup swing role behind Eric Wood, Chad Rinehart, and Kraig Urbik.

Bills selected Oregon OG Mark Asper with the No. 178 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

Asper started three years with the Ducks at right tackle and right guard. The Bills announced him as a guard, so he's likely to stay on the interior. Although Asper is a large, strong blocker at 6'6" and 320 pounds, he's limited athletically and shows questionable footwork. He'll have to battle for a roster spot.
