Jaguars waived S Winston Guy.
Guy opened the season as Jacksonville's starting free safety. He played the majority of the defensive snaps in Weeks 1-3, but only played one down in last week's loss to San Diego. The Jaguars will move forward with Josh Evans at free safety, and Johnathan Cyprien on the strong side. Sep 29 - 4:58 PM

Jaguars S Winston Guy has worked exclusively with the first-team defense and is the leader to open the season as the starting free safety.

Guy was expected to compete with Josh Evans for the starting role, but Evans has missed all of OTAs and minicamp recovering from foot surgery. The injury has allowed Guy to move ahead, but either player could still win the competition with a strong training camp.

Jaguars claimed S Winston Guy off waivers from the Seahawks.

Coach Gus Bradley continues to claim players from his former team. A 2012 sixth-round pick, Guy appeared in two games last season before earning a four-game ban for violating the league's PED policy. He'll try to carve out a role on special teams, though Guy could see strong safety snaps down the line.

Seahawks selected Kentucky S Winston Guy with the No. 181 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

Like Wesley Woodyard before him, Guy saw action at linebacker and safety in Kentucky's defense and projects as a high-impact special teamer out of the chute. He's limited in coverage skills, but can back up Kam Chancellor and be an active member of the game-day 46 with an ability to run down kickoffs and punts.
