ESPN Chicago considers Isaiah Frey the most likely candidate to win the Bears' No. 5 cornerback job.

Charles Tillman, Tim Jennings, and Kyle Fuller are locked in as the Bears' top three corners. Kelvin Hayden missed all of 2013 to injury, but re-signed in February and is expected to make the final roster. Frey appeared in 16 games and made six starts last season, grading out negatively in coverage. He'll need to hold off Sherrick McManis and UDFA Al Louis-Jean to avoid getting cut.

Second-year CB Isaiah Frey is the Bears' leading in-house candidate to replace Kelvin Hayden (hamstring surgery) at slot corner.

The Bears are serious about Frey, who's been "one of the most impressive players" in camp. "I think Isaiah has got to come out and continue to do what he’s doing, make plays," coach Marc Trestman said. "He’s certainly in the competition right now to be that guy." Frey was a sixth-round pick in the 2012 draft.

Bears agreed to terms with sixth-round CB Isaiah Frey on a four-year contract.

Frey elevated his stock by running in the 4.4s at his Pro Day, and possesses good size (5'11/190) and physicality for a zone corner. He'll likely be eased in on special teams, but could emerge as a sub-package contributor by 2013.

Bears selected Nevada CB Isaiah Frey with the No. 184 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

A workout wonder, Frey offers more potential than current refined skill. He ran a 4.45 forty and completed 18 bench press reps at the school's Pro Day. As a senior, Frey led the team with five interceptions and was voted as a first-team all-WAC member by conference coaches. A special teams role is in Frey's future.
