Redskins re-signed OT Tom Compton.

He was slated for restricted free agency. Compton's performance was abysmal when forced to start at right tackle late last season, but he's 26 years old (in May) and the Skins may believe he still has room for developmental growth. The Redskins badly need Morgan Moses to step up and become a starter.

The Redskins have benched RT Tyler Polumbus for third-year pro Tom Compton.

Polumbus has been one of the league's very worst tackles this season, so it's not surprising. A 2012 third-rounder, Compton has made zero career starts, but it's time for the Redskins to try something else opposite LT Trent Williams.

Redskins promoted OT Tom Compton from the practice squad.

Washington's sixth-round pick, Compton had been on the practice squad all season. He'll provide depth for the final four games of 2012.

Redskins signed sixth-round OT Tom Compton to a four-year contract.

He's Washington's fifth draft pick to sign, leaving just RG3, Josh LeRibeus, Kirk Cousins, and Keenan Robinson to get under contract. Compton, the 193rd overall pick, goes 6-foot-5, 313 with 34-inch arms, giving him necessary length to stay at tackle. Compton is a zone-blocking system fit because he can get to the second level. He'll play guard or right tackle in D.C.

Redskins selected South Dakota OT Tom Compton with the No. 193 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

Compton was a four-year and an all-conference selection since his sophomore year with the Coyotes. While he offers quality size and athleticism to play at the NFL level, Compton will have to improve his strength and footwork to develop into a starter. The Redskins surely appreciate that he gained experience in a zone system at South Dakota.
