Rams RB Terrance Ganaway is retiring from football.
The 2012 sixth-rounder is going back to college. Waived by the Jets at final cuts, Ganaway spent all of 2012 on the Rams' active roster, but made just three appearances. He was way down the depth chart this summer. Ganaway finishes with zero career carries. Wed, Aug 21, 2013 04:44:00 PM

The Post-Dispatch says Terrance Ganaway could end up filling a big-back role for the Rams next season.

Ganaway didn't touch the ball in three appearances last season, but the Rams kept him on the roster. If Steven Jackson isn't back, they'll be looking for a short-yardage pounder to pair with the speedy duo of Daryl Richardson and Isaiah Pead. At 6'0/240, Ganaway fits the bill.

Rams claimed RB Terrance Ganaway off waivers from the Jets.

The author of the Jets' fabled preseason touchdown, the 6-foot-0, 240-pound Ganaway could be being brought in to play fullback. He's not in line for carries behind Steven Jackson, Isaiah Pead and Daryl Richardson.

Jets waived or released RB Terrance Ganaway, WRs Jordan White and Royce Pollard, TE Hayden Smith, OT Paul Cornick, DB Donnie Fletcher and LB Ricky Sapp.

A college teammate of Robert Griffin III, Ganaway carried the ball just seven times during the preseason, but scored the Jets' only touchdown. A sixth-round pick, he'll likely hit the practice squad. The same is true for White, a sixth-round selection.

Jets agreed to terms with sixth-round RB Terrance Ganaway on a four-year contract.

Though Ganaway put up big stats in a breakout senior season at Baylor, he lacks NFL-caliber explosiveness at 6-foot, 240 with 4.65 wheels. The Jets do like Ganaway's versatility and ability to play fullback as well as tailback. He'll open camp fourth behind Shonn Greene, Joe McKnight, and Bilal Powell.

ESPN New York believes sixth-round pick RB Terrance Ganaway is shorter than his listed height of 6-foot-0.

However, beat writer Rich Cimini believes Ganaway is "all of" his listed 240 pounds, and that he has a "Shonn Greene-body type." According to Cimini, Ganaway has looked "pretty smooth coming out of the backfield" as a pass-catcher at Jets' rookie minicamp. For a sixth-round pick, Ganaway has a pretty strong chance of cracking New York's 53.

Jets selected Baylor RB Terrance Ganaway with the No. 202 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

A true ground-and-pound runner, Ganaway is a bruising 6-foot-0, 239 pounds. He possesses surprising quickness for a back of his size, however, and is also a capable pass-catcher. Ganaway should start out on special teams, but could eventually carve out a role as a short-yardage runner.
