Vikings signed seventh-round DE Trevor Guyton to a four-year contract.
Guyton was a five-technique defensive end in Cal's 3-4, the position once manned by Tyson Alualu. As a bit of a tweener for Minnesota's 4-3 scheme at 6-foot-3, 285, Guyton will try to earn a roster spot as a swing lineman. Tue, May 22, 2012 01:00:00 PM

Vikings selected California DL Trevor Guyton with the No. 219 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

A conundrum in terms of size and play style, Guyton lined up all over Cal's defensive line in college and even rushed on the edge from a two point stance. He lacks consistent balance but actively attempts counter moves and is relentless when chasing down backside runs. However, this forces Guyton to lose his edge responsibility and overrun his assignment frequently. He adds defensive line depth, and may have an interior pass rush role in Minnesota.
