Saints waived/released RB Edwin Baker, LB Justin Anderson, OT Nick Becton, LB Henry Coley, LB Jerry Franklin, OT Bryce Harris, OT Sean Hickey, OG Cyril Lemon, TE Chris Manhertz, RB Toben Opurum, DB Sammy Seamster and DB Pierre Warren.
The Saints were the last team to reveal their cuts, apparently believing it gave them advantage despite the fact that every team's cuts must be reported to the NFL. Whatever. The most notable names were all reported earlier Saturday. Sat, Sep 5, 2015 08:16:00 PM

Saints promoted RB Edwin Baker from the practice squad.

Baker provides depth with Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas sidelined. The Saints waived TE Tom Crabtree.

Browns released RB Edwin Baker.

Baker was a desperation feature back late last season for the Browns, rushing 43 times for 171 yards with two touchdowns between Weeks 15-17. It wasn't enough. Baker loses his job to Dion Lewis, who appears to have locked up No. 3 RB duties.

Browns RB Edwin Baker "has had some very good moments in the spring practices" and appears ahead of veteran RB Chris Ogbonnaya on the depth chart.

Baker held his own as a starter last season, gaining 171 yards in three games as Cleveland's lead back, but his reign atop the depth chart was never going to last. Baker is firmly behind new additions Ben Tate and Terrance West. He would need several injuries to have any fantasy value.

Edwin Baker rushed 18 times for 69 yards in Cleveland's Week 17 loss to the Steelers.

Baker "added" two catches for -1 yards. Either way, it was one of the best efforts by a Browns back all season, and gives Baker 171 yards in three games as Cleveland's starter. He finishes with a 4.0 YPC on 43 totes. Extremely quick to the hole, there's no hesitation to Baker's game. He looked better than Trent Richardson this season. Baker could compete for the Browns' starting job in 2014, but will more likely be back as a reserve.

The Browns are expected to select a running back in May's draft.

Norv Turner's pet project, Edwin Baker, has shown reasonably well as a feature back over the last two games. He'll get another audition in that role against the Steelers Sunday, but he's no more than a long-term committee back in a pass-first scheme. The Browns have stockpiled an impressive seven picks in the first four rounds of the 2014 draft -- including an extra first-rounder courtesy of the Trent Richardson pillage.

Edwin Baker played on 50-of-69 snaps in Sunday's loss to the Jets.

Chris Ogbonnaya played just 20 snaps and Willis McGahee/Fozzy Whittaker combined for two. The Browns were clearly trying to get a long look at Baker as a potential feature back, and he responded by rushing 17 times for 64 yards with a touchdown against an excellent Jets run defense. For owners playing into Week 17, Baker makes for a sneaky play against the Steelers.

Edwin Baker rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries in Week 16 against the Jets.

Baker added two catches for 12 yards to his stat line. The Browns entered Week 15 with just two rushing touchdowns all season. Baker now has rushing scores in back-to-back weeks after being signed off Houston's practice squad. He started Sunday and dominated touches. Chris Ogbonnaya handled the ball twice, while Willis McGahee and Fozzy Whittaker didn't touch the ball. Baker is just 22 years old and is a guy to watch in dynasty. The Browns don't have a running-back-of-the-future currently on the roster. Baker gets the Steelers in the season finale.
Sun, Dec 22, 2013 04:46:00 PM

The Browns plan to "talk about" giving RB Edwin Baker more work going forward.

Operating as the lead back, Baker was the Browns' "leading" rusher in Sunday's loss to the Bears, taking the rock eight times for 38 yards and a touchdown. He was signed off the practice squad just six days ago. With Willis McGahee's (concussion) season in danger, it appears the Browns have seen all they need to see of Chris Ogbonnaya and Fozzy Whittaker. Whatever his role is, Baker won't be a viable FLEX option for the fantasy finals against the Jets' stingy run defense.

Edwin Baker rushed eight times for 38 yards with a touchdown and added four catches for 46 yards in Sunday's Week 15 loss to the Bears.

Baker was signed off the Texans' practice squad five days ago. So it was a major surprise to watch him run as the clear-cut feature back for the Browns. Baker got the majority of base runs as well as the goal-line work (converting one from two yards out) and even got the call on a couple screen plays. Still, we'd avoid trusting Baker as a plug-n-play in Week 16. Willis McGahee (concussion) could be back and the Jets boast arguably the league's best run defense.
Sun, Dec 15, 2013 05:44:00 PM

OC Norv Turner said he expects Edwin Baker to receive playing time in Sunday's game against the Bears.

Willis McGahee (concussion) is almost certainly out. Baker was just signed two days ago, but he has some familiarity with Norv Turner's scheme from their time together in San Diego. We wouldn't expect more than a few snaps behind Chris Ogbonnaya and Fozzy Whittaker.

Browns signed RB Edwin Baker.

Baker was on the Texans' practice squad. The No. 250 overall pick of the 2012 draft, Baker has yet to notch an NFL carry. Despite the sorry state of Cleveland's running back corps, that's unlikely to change.

Broncos signed RB Edwin Baker to the practice squad.

Baker will get the first call if one of Montee Ball, Ronnie Hillman and Knowshon Moreno goes down with injury.

Free agent RB Edwin Baker visited the Broncos.

Baker was among the Chargers' first round of cuts last week. He rushed 11 times for 57 yards this preseason. Baker was the No. 250 overall pick last year.

Chargers waived RB Edwin Baker, C Colin Baxter, CB Greg Brown, S Tony Burnett, WR Deon Butler, G/T Brandyn Dombrowski, QB Nathan Enderle, P Richard Kent, DL Jamarcus McFarland, and TE Dallas Walker.

Baker was the Chargers' seventh-round pick in 2012. Dombrowski has started games for San Diego in the past -- and been manhandled by defensive linemen.
