The Post-Dispatch does not expect the Rams to go after a running back in free agency even if Steven Jackson signs elsewhere.
The Rams don't have a lot of money to play with under the cap and appear somewhat content with their current stable. "[Isaiah] Pead toward the end of the year, Daryl [Richardson] at the beginning and middle, proved they can play in the league," general manager Les Snead said. The Rams could also add a rookie to the mix via April's draft, in which they have two first-round picks. Barring a surprise re-signing of Jackson, expect a committee to form in 2013. Daryl Richardson totaled 14 yards on four offensive touches in the Rams' Week 17 loss to the Seahawks.

Richardson received two carries but didn't gain a single yard while he picked up 14 yards on two catches out of the backfield. He was actually out-touched by fellow rookie back Isaiah Pead in the regular season finale. Richardson, a seventh-round pick out of Abilene Christian, posted a final line of 98 carries for 475 yards while adding 24 catches for another 163 yards. With Steven Jackson set to test the free agent market this offseason, Richardson and Pead could be asked to carry the load in 2013. It's too early to tell, though.

Daryl Richardson rushed three times for four yards in St. Louis' Week 14 win over the Bills.

He wasn't targeted in the passing game. It's officially "wait 'til next year" with St. Louis' talented rookie back, as he's simply no longer a meaningful part of the game-plan. He's been out-touched 116-31 by Steven Jackson since the trade deadline came and went. With S-Jax possibly moving on in the offseason, Richardson remains a strong "hold" in Dynasty leagues.

Daryl Richardson rushed three times for only six yards in St. Louis' Week 13 win over the 49ers, adding three catches for seven yards.

It's the new normal for Richardson, who was out-touched 26-6 by Steven Jackson. S-Jax has seen the ball 68 more times than his rookie backup since the Rams' Week 9 bye. D-Rich is a pure handcuff in redraft leagues, though he is a high-end one.

Daryl Richardson rushed seven times for 32 yards in St. Louis' Week 12 win over the Cardinals.

He wasn't targeted in the passing game. For the third straight week, Richardson operated as a pure change-of-pace back, running the ball 17 fewer times than Steven Jackson. Richardson has been out-touched by Jackson 70-22 since the Rams' Week 9 bye. Richardson is a high-upside stash for Jackson owners in the event S-Jax goes down, but appears poised to remain little more than a handcuff through the fantasy playoffs.

Daryl Richardson rushed six times for 26 yards in the Rams' Week 11 loss to the Jets, adding one catch for 18 yards.

St. Louis' rookie change-of-pace back also committed a crushing mistake in the fourth quarter, letting the ball get knocked out from behind for a lost fumble. The Jets went on to turn the miscue into a touchdown and 27-7 lead they would not relinquish. After operating in a near-even timeshare with Steven Jackson in the run up to the trade deadline, Richardson has been out-touched by S-Jax 46-15 over the Rams' past two games. His Dynasty stock remains high, but D-Rich is back to being a pure handcuff in redraft leagues.

Daryl Richardson rushed seven times for 58 yards in St. Louis' Week 10 tie with the 49ers, adding one catch for zero yards.

Richardson was as effective as ever as a change-of-pace back, but saw his workload dwarfed by Steven Jackson's for the first time in weeks. It's possible the Rams will no longer be going with such a strict timeshare with the trade deadline having come and gone. Although Richardson has little fantasy value to begin with, this will be a good week to explore his trade value. He's little more than a desperation flex play in 12-14 team leagues.

Daryl Richardson rushed seven times for 53 yards in St. Louis' Week 8 loss to the Patriots.

Richardson caught four passes, but ended up with -3 receiving yards thanks to a trio of broken plays. Only three of Richardson's carries came while the game was in doubt, but he finished with 30 more rushing yards than Steven Jackson, who also took the rock seven times. If Jackson is dealt ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, Richardson will become an every-week RB2.

Rams OC Brian Schottenheimer confirmed after Sunday's loss that rookie Daryl Richardson will stay involved as a complement to Steven Jackson moving forward.

Jackson is the inside runner. Richardson is the in-space complementary back with big-play skills. "You have to defend different parts of the field with each guy," said Schottenheimer. "Steven just pounds on you. ... Then obviously Daryl, when he's in space, is pretty dangerous. They both complement each other very well." Richardson is a low-end flex option, but offers some week-to-week upside. Jackson is locked back in as an RB2.

Daryl Richardson carried the ball eight times for 36 yards in St. Louis' Week 7 loss to the Packers, adding three catches for 43 yards.

Although two of Richardson's catches came in garbage time, he finished with just one fewer touch than Steven Jackson. The Rams are making Richardson stretches a staple of their offense, though he's receiving exceedingly few carries between the tackles. Richardson is locked into 10-12 weekly touches, but is still producing like little more than a low-end flex play. He's a stronger own in dynasty formats.

Rams rookie RB Daryl Richardson gained 88 of his 99 total yards in Week 6 against the Dolphins on outside-toss sweeps and screen plays.

Six of Richardson's 13 touches were tosses and screens. He gained just 11 yards on his other seven touches, mostly of the inside-run variety. After reviewing the Rams-Dolphins game, Rotoworld's Evan Silva charted Richardson with just one broken tackle. While clearly a dangerous threat on the perimeter, Richardson's increased Week 6 role appeared to be game-plan specific versus Miami's immovable front. Daryl Richardson rushed 11 times for 76 yards in St. Louis' Week 6 loss to the Dolphins, adding two catches for 23 yards.

Richardson racked up 44 of his yards on the Rams' second play from scrimmage, nearly reeling off a 75-yard touchdown. He found himself in an even timeshare with Steven Jackson all afternoon, however, spelling S-Jax for two entire series while even vulturing a goal-line carry. It was a promising day for the seventh-round rookie, though one that was likely game-plan specific, as the Rams were focused on beating Miami's imposing run defense with speed and shiftiness. Richardson is emerging as one of the league's more heavily worked backups, but is unlikely to be nearly 50-50 with S-Jax against the Packers' less fierce run unit in Week 7.

Daryl Richardson rushed for 35 yards on nine carries in Week 5 against the Cardinals.

Richardson seemed to have played one series to every two that Steven Jackson played. He again showed great burst and straight line speed while hitting holes. Richardson is firmly entrenched as the Rams' No. 2 running back and S-Jax's handcuff. Second-round rookie Isaiah Pead was active in Week 5 but didn't see the field.

Daryl Richardson rushed six times for 16 yards in St. Louis' Week 4 win over the Seahawks, adding two catches for 13 yards.

Backing up a banged-up Steven Jackson, Richardson couldn't find any holes against the Seahawks' elite run defense, gaining more than two yards on only three of his six carries. Richardson showed promise against the Redskins' embattled defense in Week 2, but has otherwise been quiet as S-Jax's primary backup. He remains a pure handcuff in fantasy leagues.

Daryl Richardson rushed four times for 16 yards in St. Louis' Week 3 loss to the Bears, adding one catch for four yards.

With Steven Jackson (groin) struggling to get anything going behind the Rams' woeful offensive line, Richardson saw heavy snaps on two series, but wasn't any better at finding the crease than his ailing backfield mate. Richardson did showcase his lightning quicks on a 12-yard gainer early in the second quarter, but otherwise didn't make a strong argument for further touches going forward. He remains a pure handcuff. Third-string back and fellow rookie Isaiah Pead wasn't given a carry, but did notch one reception for four yards.
