Dolphins waived RB Jonas Gray.
Miami re-signed C Sam Brenner in a corresponding move. Gray had been serving as Lamar Miller's backup, but the successful return of rookie Jay Ajayi made Gray expendable. Gray should find himself on the bottom of another team's depth chart very soon. Perhaps the Patriots, who just lost Dion Lewis for the season, will be interested in a reunion. Nov 10 - 9:07 AM

Jonas Gray caught 4-of-5 targets for 50 yards in Miami's Week 8 loss to the Patriots.

He "added" two rushes for one yard. Gray's missed connection was a brutal drop. Most of his yardage came deep into garbage time. Gray is firmly established as Lamar Miller's handcuff, but has zero standalone fantasy value.
Oct 30 - 12:27 AM

Jonas Gray rushed seven times for 27 yards and caught a 12-yard pass in the Dolphins' Week 6 win over the Titans.

Gray handled the seven carries to Lamar Miller's 19 and Damien Williams' two. If something happened to Miller, the Fins would likely utilize Gray and Williams in a committee, lessening the handcuff appeal of both power-back Gray and more versatile Williams.

Dolphins signed RB Jonas Gray from their practice squad.

With Lamar Miller battling an ankle injury, Gray is added as insurance. Miller says he'll play Week 3 against the Bills, but the Dolphins are near the bottom of the league in rushing. Gray is unlikely to see the field much this Sunday.
Sep 23 - 10:20 AM

Dolphins signed RB Jonas Gray to their practice squad.

Gray was promoted from the practice squad in time for Week 1 but didn't play in the opener. He lost his spot in the Dolphins' backfield to Raheem Mostert.

Dolphins waived RB Jonas Gray.

C Sam Brenner has also been cut loose. Gray's release comes the same day as LaMike James', and clears a roster spot for Eagles practice-squad signee Raheem Mostert. Gray ran well for the Patriots both last season and this summer. He should eventually find a home on someone's 53-man roster.
Sep 14 - 3:03 PM

Dolphins promoted RB Jonas Gray from the practice squad.

He was added to the Dolphins' practice squad earlier this week after going unclaimed on waivers. Miami needed some depth at running back with Jay Ajayi (cracked ribs) sidelined. If Gray suits up Sunday against the Redskins, he won't see more than few snaps behind workhorse Lamar Miller.
Sep 11 - 4:22 PM

Dolphins signed RB Jonas Gray to the practice squad.

It's been a long, hard fall for Gray since his 201-yard performance against the Colts last November. The 25 year old had a strong preseason, so he might not have to wallow on the practice squad for long. Miami has shaky running back depth behind starter Lamar Miller.
Sep 8 - 6:35 PM

Free agent RB Jonas Gray is scheduled to work out for the Titans on Tuesday.

Gray was waived by the Patriots at final cuts. Tennessee traded a seventh-round pick for Terrance West on Sunday, but they may be interested in adding another middling back to their rotation. The Titans currently have five running backs, five tight ends and four wide receivers on their roster.
Sep 7 - 11:44 AM

Former Patriots RB Jonas Gray went unclaimed on waivers.

Gray is now an unrestricted free agent, and lacks practice squad eligibility after appearing in eight games last year. He averaged 4.6 yards per carry with the 2014 Pats and should top many teams' emergency lists at running back.
Sep 6 - 1:52 PM

The Baltimore Sun suggests the Ravens could target a running back to fill out their 53-man roster.

Baltimore's roster will shrink to 52 when Brent Urban is placed on I.R. later today. With Lorenzo Taliaferro (knee) banged up and rookie Buck Allen coming off a pitiful preseason, the Ravens are dangerously thin behind aging starter Justin Forsett. Bringing back cut-day casualties Fitzgerald Toussaint or Terrence Magee would be the easiest route to go, though the Ravens could be tempted to take a flier on Patriots castoff Jonas Gray. Gray led the Super Bowl champs with 412 rushing yards last season but fell out of Bill Belichick's favor after missing practice late in the year and could never find his way out of the doghouse.
Sep 6 - 9:03 AM

Patriots waived RB Jonas Gray.

It's a surprise, but brings (a little) clarity to the Pats' jumbled backfield. Brandon Bolden, Dion Lewis and James White will mind the store during LeGarrette Blount's one-game suspension, while Blount will be the No. 1 upon his Week 2 return. Gray had a nice preseason, rolling up 107 yards on 19 carries (5.6 YPC), and averaged 4.6 yards on 89 totes a year ago. It's quite possible he'll be claimed on waivers.
Sep 5 - 1:17 PM

Jonas Gray managed 11 yards on five carries in the Patriots' third preseason game.

Gray got the start over LeGarrette Blount, who is healthy and played in New England's last preseason game. Blount didn't enter tonight until Jimmy Garoppolo came in to start the second half. Although he got no help from New England's offensive line, Gray was stacked up on his carries aside from one run that gained nine yards. The takeaway is that Gray appears to be very much in the mix for carries in New England's backfield. Gray should be the Pats' lead back in Week 1 against the Steelers.
Aug 28 - 9:49 PM

Patriots RB Jonas Gray torched the Packers for 74 yards and a touchdown on seven carries in Thursday’s preseason opener.

He also scored on a two-point conversion. Gray got the start in place of LeGarrette Blount, who was sitting out with a knee injury. Most of his yardage came on a 55-yard touchdown scamper in the second quarter. Gray spent the second half of last season in the doghouse after sleeping through practice but he worked hard and lost 10 pounds this offseason. Gray is the favorite to start Week 1 against the Steelers while Blount serves a one-game suspension.
Aug 13 - 10:39 PM

Patriots RB Jonas Gray has dropped his weight to 225 pounds.

He's down ten pounds from last season. Gray measured 5-foot-10, 223 at the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine. With LeGarrette Blount (MCL) sidelined at Patriots camp, the Boston Globe's Ben Volin says Gray "has looked powerful and swift." Blount is suspended for the season opener against Pittsburgh. There's a decent chance Gray will lead New England in rushing attempts in Week 1.
