Jonas Gray managed 11 yards on five carries in the Patriots' third preseason game.
Gray got the start over LeGarrette Blount, who is healthy and played in New England's last preseason game. Blount didn't enter tonight until Jimmy Garoppolo came in to start the second half. Although he got no help from New England's offensive line, Gray was stacked up on his carries aside from one run that gained nine yards. The takeaway is that Gray appears to be very much in the mix for carries in New England's backfield. Gray should be the Pats' lead back in Week 1 against the Steelers. Aug 28 - 9:49 PM

Patriots RB Jonas Gray torched the Packers for 74 yards and a touchdown on seven carries in Thursday’s preseason opener.

He also scored on a two-point conversion. Gray got the start in place of LeGarrette Blount, who was sitting out with a knee injury. Most of his yardage came on a 55-yard touchdown scamper in the second quarter. Gray spent the second half of last season in the doghouse after sleeping through practice but he worked hard and lost 10 pounds this offseason. Gray is the favorite to start Week 1 against the Steelers while Blount serves a one-game suspension.
Aug 13 - 10:39 PM

Patriots RB Jonas Gray has dropped his weight to 225 pounds.

He's down ten pounds from last season. Gray measured 5-foot-10, 223 at the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine. With LeGarrette Blount (MCL) sidelined at Patriots camp, the Boston Globe's Ben Volin says Gray "has looked powerful and swift." Blount is suspended for the season opener against Pittsburgh. There's a decent chance Gray will lead New England in rushing attempts in Week 1.
Aug 9 - 10:14 AM

Patriots RB Jonas Gray is inactive for the Super Bowl.

Gray went berserk against the Colts in Week 11. He played a combined 45 snaps in New England's final eight games as LeGarrette Blount bypassed Gray for power-running duties. Gray turns 25 in June. A one-dimensional, replacement-level talent, Gray will have to battle for a roster spot in 2015.
Feb 1 - 4:41 PM

Jonas Gray rushed four times for four yards in Sunday's AFC Championship Game win over the Colts.

When the Patriots faced the Colts in Week 11, Gray ripped off 37-201-4. But now he's firmly behind LeGarrette Blount, who went for 30-148-3 Sunday. Gray does not figure to get much work at all in the Super Bowl against Seattle's stout defense.
Jan 18 - 11:36 PM

Jonas Gray (ankle) has been removed from the Patriots' injury report.

It confirms he was a healthy scratch in the Divisional Round. After breaking out for four touchdowns against the Colts earlier this season, Gray figures to be active this week. The Patriots will likely rely more on their Power Run scheme, leaving the potential for Gray to split early-down work with LeGarrette Blount.
Jan 14 - 5:02 PM

Jonas Gray (ankle) is inactive for Saturday's Divisional Round game against Baltimore.

Gray was limited in practice with an ankle injury, but this is a healthy scratch. LeGarrette Blount will handle the majority of work against the Ravens, with Shane Vereen playing on pass downs. Also inactive for the Patriots are RB James White, WR Josh Boyce, OL Jordan Devey, DE Zach Moore, OL Cameron Fleming, and TE Steve Maneri.
Jan 10 - 3:17 PM

Jonas Gray (ankle) remained limited on Thursday.

Despite the "limited" tag, Gray is fully expected to go against the Ravens. He'll split "big back" carries with LeGarrette Blount, and perhaps even Brandon Bolden. He'll be a dicey play in DFS leagues against Baltimore's stout run defense.
Jan 8 - 5:13 PM

Jonas Gray (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Gray practiced last week after missing Week 17 as a precaution. He'll be fine to split carries with LeGarrette Blount against the Ravens.
Jan 7 - 4:01 PM

Jonas Gray (ankle) returned to practice Tuesday.

Gray sat out the meaningless Week 17 loss to the Bills as a precaution. He'll be part of the big back rotation with LeGarrette Blount following the Patriots' bye.

Jonas Gray (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 17.

Gray didn't practice all week due to his ankle injury. The Patriots will get him extended rest before the playoffs. LeGarrette Blount (shoulder) and Shane Vereen (ankle) are listed as questionable against Buffalo.

Jonas Gray rushed six times for five yards and a touchdown in the Patriots' Week 16 win over the Jets.

With LeGarrette Blount (shoulder) sidelined, Gray rotated "big back" carries with Brandon Bolden. Bolden out-gained Gray 32-5 on one fewer touch, but it was Gray who earned New England's random touchdown plunge in the fourth quarter. With New England's backfield as muddled as ever, Gray will be a risky DFS play in Week 17.

Jonas Gray out-snapped LeGarrette Blount 17-15 in Week 15 against the Dolphins.

He also out-touched and out-gained Blount on the ground 12-10 and 62-17, respectively. Blount saw most of the work in the first half, but wasn't churning out yards. Gray was called on in the second half and handled most of the touches to close out the game. It's now a three-headed backfield in New England, leaving none of Gray, Blount, or Shane Vereen as bankable fantasy options.

Jonas Gray rushed 11 times for 62 yards in the Patriots' Week 15 win over the Dolphins, adding a seven-yard reception.

Largely mothballed for the past three weeks, Gray surprisingly led the Patriots' backfield in both touches and yards, though six of his rushes came deep into garbage time. Gray was involved while the game was still in doubt, however, thrusting the Pats' backfield back into a three-way quagmire. Be that as it may, Gray won't be on the fantasy radar against the Jets' stout run defense in Week 16.
Sun, Dec 14, 2014 06:01:00 PM

Jonas Gray rushed two times for nine yards in Sunday night's Week 14 win over the Chargers.

Gray was only used to spell LeGarrette Blount. He played limited snaps as the Patriots' No. 3 back. Gray is safe to drop in fantasy leagues.
