The Patriots may pursue free agent DT Tyrunn Walker.

New England made Walker a three-year offer last offseason, but he opted for a one-year proposal from the Lions instead. Since, former Patriots executive Bob Quinn has taken over as the GM in Detroit. At this stage of the process, the Pats and Lions should be considered the favorites for Walker. Walker is a 26-year-old interior pass rusher who broke his fibula last October.

Lions DT Tyrunn Walker underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a broken fibula.

Walker suffered the injury in Monday's loss to Seattle. He'll be placed on season-ending injured reserve. Detroit will now turn to Gabe Wright at right defensive tackle.

Lions DT Tyrunn Walker suffered a "significant" ankle injury Week 4 against the Seahawks.

"I anticipate the doctors got to look at him and that kind of thing, but it's pretty significant," coach Jim Caldwell said. Caldwell intimated Walker suffered a broken ankle. He is likely done for the season.

Lions DT Tyrunn Walker exited Monday night's Week 4 game against the Seahawks with an ankle injury.

The Lions are losing key players to injuries Monday, including TE Eric Ebron and DT Haloti Ngata. Walker was carted off the field in the fourth quarter and may be done for the year. Walker and Ngata is the Lions' starting duo inside. Caraun Reid and Gabe Wright are left on the depth chart at defensive tackle.
Mon, Oct 5, 2015 10:56:00 PM’s Tim Twentyman considers Tyrunn Walker the leading candidate for the No. 2 defensive tackle job.

Walker is competing with Caraun Reid, but his experience makes him the slight favorite. The Lions are expected to use a heavy rotation opposite Haloti Ngata.

Lions DT Tyrunn Walker is expected to get the first crack at the starting job next to Haloti Ngata.

After losing both Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley and choosing not to re-sign C.J. Mosley, the Lions acquired Ngata and Walker before spending a fourth-round pick on Gabe Wright at defensive tackle. Walker was a role player for the Saints, but flashed in limited snaps. The Lions are banking on Walker and second-year DT Caraun Reid to take steps forward on the interior.

Lions signed DT Tyrunn Walker, formerly of the Saints, to a one-year contract.

Walker wasn't tendered by the Saints as a restricted free agent and is going to a team that should allow him more opportunities. Across 306 snaps last season, 25-year-old Walker earned positive marks as a pass rusher and in run defense.

The Saints aren't expected to tender an offer to restricted free agent DL Tyrunn Walker.

The tender would cost about $1.54 million, money the Saints don't currently have. They'd like to have the versatile reserve lineman back at a cheaper rate, but he'll be free to test the market. Walker, 25, played 306 snaps last season, earning positive marks for his pass rush and run defense from PFF.

Saints DE Tyrunn Walker was carted to the locker room with a left leg injury in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Falcons.

The second-year undrafted free agent limped off the field, but had to be carted once he reached the sideline. He's almost certainly done for the day. Walker is just a reserve, but it's bad news for a Saints' front seven that's already decimated by injury.
