Cowboys receivers coach Derek Dooley said Cole Beasley will have an expanded role this season.
Limited almost to the slot in 2013, Dooley said Beasley will need to play outside some this season. "He’s really expanded his route inventory," Dooley continued. "He’s going to be a much better player than he was last year." With Miles Austin out of the picture, Beasley has a great shot to earn the No. 3 receiver duties in a Cowboys offense that should throw a ton under new OC Scott Linehan. Beasley could carry some PPR value this season. Jun 14 - 1:41 PM

Date:

Cole Beasley had one catch for nine yards in Week 17 against the Eagles.

Beasley had just two targets and didn't make his first catch until the fourth quarter. He saw limited snaps behind Terrance Williams and Miles Austin and played the slot in four-wide sets. Beasley finishes the 2013 season with 38 receptions, 368 yards, and two touchdowns.

Cole Beasley caught two passes for 29 yards in Sunday's Week 16 win at Washington.

Beasley made a season-saving play for the Cowboys, hauling in a 20-yard catch on a 4th-and-6 to keep a fourth-quarter drive alive. He'll remain the Cowboys' fourth receiver in their "win or go home" Week 17 game against the Eagles.

Cole Beasley caught three passes for 19 yards in Dallas' Week 15 loss to the Packers.

Beasley's presence was only really felt on the Cowboys' final play, where his miscommunication with Tony Romo resulted in a game-ending interception. Beasley will be a low-end WR4 for PPR purposes in Week 16.

Cole Beasley caught two passes for 20 yards and one touchdown in Week 14 against the Bears.

Beasley saw three targets on the night. Both of his catches were tough grabs. On an opening-drive third-and-three, Beasley reeled in a bullet of a pass over the middle for a first down. Then, late in the game he secured a nine-yard touchdown while leaping over the top of Major Wright in the back of the end zone. Beasley is the No. 4 receiver in Dallas and has no re-draft value.

Cole Beasley caught three balls for 19 yards in the Cowboys' Week 13 win over Oakland.

Beasley deserves credit for efficiently securing all three of his targets against the Raiders, but he has no fantasy value with Miles Austin healthy.
Thu, Nov 28, 2013 08:59:00 PM

Cole Beasley caught two passes for 13 yards in the Cowboys' Week 12 win over the Giants.

A situational slot receiver, Beasley lacks fantasy value whenever Miles Austin is playing. Austin hogs targets and snaps in the slot.
Sun, Nov 24, 2013 08:21:00 PM

Cole Beasley had one catch for 18 yards in Week 10 against the Saints.

Beasley was targeted just four times in a game where Tony Romo completed only 10 passes. With Miles Austin (hamstring) still week to week, he continues to play the slot in all three-wide sets. Beasley isn't worth stashing with the Cowboys on a bye in Week 11 and is barely on the WR4 radar.
Mon, Nov 11, 2013 01:56:00 AM

Cole Beasley caught six passes for 68 yards in Week 9 against the Vikings.

Beasley was targeted nine times on the day against a Minnesota defense that has struggled to cover slot receivers and the middle of the field all season. The six catches tied a season-high while the yards total is a year-best. With Miles Austin's (hamstring) return uncertain, Beasley remains on the WR4 radar.
Sun, Nov 3, 2013 05:54:00 PM

Cole Beasley was held to one catch for six yards in Dallas' Week 8 loss to the Lions.

Beasley was targeted just three times on an afternoon where Tony Romo completed only 14 passes. The dud snaps a string of three straight four-catch performances. Beasley remains on the radar as a WR4 in PPR leagues.
Sun, Oct 27, 2013 05:37:00 PM

Cole Beasley caught six passes for 53 yards in Sunday's Week 7 win at Philadelphia.

It's time for deep-league PPR owners to take Beasley seriously. A typically small, quick slot receiver, he has 14 catches for 144 yards and one touchdown over the last three weeks. With the Cowboys offense clicking, there's no reason to think that kind of usage will stop heading into a Week 8 matchup at Detroit.
Sun, Oct 20, 2013 06:10:00 PM

Cole Beasley had four catches for 44 yards in Sunday night's Week 6 win over Washington.

Beasley played the slot in four-wide sets and was targeted five times by Tony Romo. He's now played ahead of Dwayne Harris the last two weeks, but is no higher than the No. 5 option in the passing game and not on the fantasy radar.
Mon, Oct 14, 2013 01:40:00 AM

Cole Beasley caught four passes for 47 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's Week 5 loss to the Broncos.

With Miles Austin (hamstring) sidelined, Beasley has shown up a little. Over the last two weeks, he's caught all seven of the targets that have come his way as he works out of the slot. Still, he's behind Terrance Williams and Dwayne Harris. Don't go chasing Sunday's line, even with the Cowboys getting the Redskins' Swiss cheese defense in Week 6.
Sun, Oct 6, 2013 08:10:00 PM

Cowboys WR Cole Beasley has been diagnosed with a sprained foot, and "some bone bruising."

Beasley was in a walking boot following Friday's preseason game. He has no timetable for a return. He'll be squarely on the roster bubble if he's headed for an extended absence.
Sun, Aug 11, 2013 10:33:00 AM

ESPN Dallas doesn't consider Cowboys WR Cole Beasley a lock for a roster spot.

Beasley made the team as an undrafted free agent last season, but ended up catching just 15 passes in 10 games. He'll compete for slot duties in camp, but will have to show well for the second straight summer. He'll be squaring off with Anthony Armstrong, Tim Benford and Jared Green for the Cowboys' final receiver spot. Beasley is the comfortable favorite.
