ESPN Dallas doesn't consider Cowboys WR Cole Beasley a lock for a roster spot.
Beasley made the team as an undrafted free agent last season, but ended up catching just 15 passes in 10 games. He'll compete for slot duties in camp, but will have to show well for the second straight summer. He'll be squaring off with Anthony Armstrong, Tim Benford and Jared Green for the Cowboys' final receiver spot. Beasley is the comfortable favorite. May 6 - 10:30 AM

ESPN Dallas believes Cole Beasley could be an option in the slot for the Cowboys next season.

Signed as a rookie free agent out of SMU, 5-foot-8, 177-pound Beasley played on just 128 snaps in 2012, reeling in 15 passes for 128 yards. With free agent Kevin Ogletree almost certain to leave and incumbent slot receiver Miles Austin a potential release candidate, there could be more opportunities for youngsters Beasley and Dwayne Harris in Dallas' 2013 receiver rotation.

Cole Beasley caught one pass for 13 yards in Dallas' Week 13 win over the Eagles.

Beasley pulled down seven balls against the Redskins on Thanksgiving, but was limited to just two targets this evening with Kevin Ogletree (concussion) back in the fold. The rookie slot prospect shouldn't be a notable factor down the stretch.

Cowboys WR Cole Beasley caught seven balls for 68 yards in Dallas' Thanksgiving Day, Week 12 loss to Washington.

He didn't just rack up catches in garbage time, either. Beasley was a shockingly big part of Dallas' game plan from the get go, and it backfired miserably. Targeted 13 times by Tony Romo, Beasley came up with just 53.8 percent of the intended passes, and the Cowboys' offense finally got rolling when Romo stopped throwing to Beasley. Beasley ordinarily shares No. 4 receiver duties with Dwayne Harris, behind Dez Bryant, Miles Austin, and Kevin Ogletree. The Cowboys might need to lean on Beasley even more moving forward if Austin's hip injury proves serious.

Cowboys declared WR Cole Beasley, WR Andre Holmes, C Phil Costa, NT Jay Ratliff, LB Kyle Wilber, S Matt Johnson and CB Mario Butler inactive for Week 2 at Seattle.

Beasley played a few snaps last week as the fourth receiver, but Dwayne Harris offers more special teams value against Seahawks return specialist Leon Washington. The Cowboys have only four wide receivers active this week.

Cole Beasley caught seven passes for 104 yards in the Cowboys' second preseason game.

Owner Jerry Jones recently called Kevin Ogletree his "logical" third receiver, but Beasley is a player to monitor this preseason. After briefly quitting the team in training camp, he's a candidate for part-time slot duties with Miles Austin. Ogletree played with the first-team offense and finished with four catches for 60 yards. Fifth-round WR Danny Coale (foot, quad) was inactive Saturday and is on the roster bubble.

According to ESPN Dallas, undrafted rookie WR Cole Beasley has done "nothing but make plays in whatever circumstance."

Beasley briefly quit the team earlier in camp, but has resumed turning heads since he returned. He's in the thick of the race for No. 3 receiver duties, with Kevin Ogletree, Andre Holmes and perhaps Danny Coale his primary competition.

Undrafted rookie WR Cole Beasley has informed the Cowboys that he will return to training camp.

Beasley informed coach Jason Garrett on Friday that his heart wasn't into it, but it appears that he's changed his mind. The 5'9/177 Beasley turned some heads during minicamp, drawing comparisons to Wes Welker. He'll be competing with the likes of Dwayne Harris, Andre Holmes, Kevin Ogletree, Danny Coale, and Tim Benford for three or four roster spots.

Undrafted rookie WR Cole Beasley has quit the Cowboys for personal reasons.

Beasley turned heads during minicamps and OTAs and didn't embarrass himself to start off camp, so the organization has to be disappointed. They are trying to talk Beasley into coming back. If Beasley simply doesn't want to play the game anymore, the talks will likely be fruitless. He was a UDFA out of SMU.

Undrafted rookie WR Cole Beasley reportedly "turned some heads during minicamp with his speed, reliable hands and ability to make the tough grabs in traffic."

At 5'8" and 182, the former SMU slot machine has joined fifth-rounder Danny Coale in drawing Wes Welker comparisons. Although the third receiver job is wide open, Beasley has a better shot at the practice squad than final roster.
