Tim Benford - WR - Cowboys

Cowboys waived WR Tim Benford, QB Rudy Carpenter, and LB Orie Lemon.

Benford showed impressive hands and route running in training camp, but he was outplayed by Cole Beasley, Dwayne Harris, and Andre Holmes in preseason action. Carpenter's release suggests Stephen McGee may have a shot at the final roster after all.

ESPN Dallas advises to "keep an eye on" undrafted rookie WR Tim Benford in preseason action.

Observers have yet to see Benford drop a ball in camp, and his route running has impressed as well. A favorite of Rotoworld NFL Draft expert Josh Norris and NFLDraftScout.com's Dane Brugler, Benford often looked like the best receiver on the field in the East-West Shrine game. He's a darkhorse candidate for the No. 3 receiver role.

ESPN Dallas' Tim MacMahon says to "keep an eye on" undrafted rookie Tim Benford in the battle for the Cowboys' No. 3 receiver job.

Benford made relatively noise in the Cowboys' offseason program, but was highly productive in his four-year career for small-school Tennessee Tech. Barring a revelatory camp, he should be ticketed for the practice squad.

"I wish it could've been a couple years back, but I had to go through a couple of things to figure it out," Bryant said of his past troubles. "I think I got it and I'm just more focused on my job and doing what I love to do and that's playing football." WR2	1	Miles Austin Sidelined Miles Austin said he is focusing on strengthening his hamstrings this offseason. Austin played in all 16 games last season, but was consistently bothered by hip and hamstring issues. In 2011, he missed six games with a severe pull. "I'm definitely strengthening my hamstrings a lot more than I have been," said Austin. "Doing a different routine, a couple of extra exercises each day on our leg days." May 9
