Colts signed DE Tyler Brayton, formerly of the Panthers.
The Colts are actively trying to upgrade their depth behind Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis, which has become a bigger concern with Jerry Hughes not panning out. A former first-round pick like fellow reclamation project Jamaal Anderson, the 31-year-old Brayton had zero sacks in 14 starts last season. Mon, Aug 15, 2011 11:49:00 PM

Panthers released DE Tyler Brayton.

They weren't willing to pay his $3.5 million salary. The 31-year-old Brayton is known as a power end, but he wasn't a high-impact run defender last season and had zero sacks in 14 starts. Maybe Al Davis will give his old-first round pick a ring. Davis made Brayton the 32nd overall selection in the 2003 draft.

Panthers LE Tyler Brayton is a candidate to be cut this offseason.

Brayton is due just over $3.5 million in 2011, a high figure for a starter who failed to register even one sack last season. Brayton also finished 16th on the team with just 22 tackles.

Panthers LE Tyler Brayton (ankle) returned to practice on Wednesday and is expected to be ready for Week 1.

Brayton was toying with the Baltimore front five before going down in the preseason opener, posting two sacks in the first quarter alone. He's never been that good in real games, but does appear to finally be healthy.

Coach John Fox revealed that Panthers LE Tyler Brayton escaped Thursday's game without a broken ankle.

The injury looked bad when it happened, but it appears Brayton got away with a sprain. He's wearing a soft boot on his foot, and doctors will look at it in-depth on Friday. Brayton gave Ravens LT Michael Oher fits before the injury.

Tyler Brayton injured his leg on a QB sack during the first quarter of Thursday's preseason opener, and indications are that he will not return.

And the curse of Julius Peppers begins. It was Brayton's second sack on the night, though they did come against newly minted and inexperienced LT Michael Oher. The severity of the injury is unknown.

Panthers agreed to terms with DE Tyler Brayton on a three-year contract.

While he was part of one of the league's worst run defenses, Brayton had perhaps his best season in 2009. The 30-year-old collected five sacks, two forced fumbles, and 45 tackles (36 solo) as Carolina's strong-side defensive end. He'll enter camp as the favorite to continue starting at that position.

Updating a previous item, free agent DE Tyler Brayton's visit with the Seahawks is scheduled for Tuesday.

A prior report had the meeting set for Sunday. Restricted free agent RB Mike Bell will also be in Seattle Tuesday, according to Scout.com's Adam Caplan.

Free agent DE Tyler Brayton has reportedly scheduled a visit with the Seahawks on Sunday.

Brayton's first choice was to return to Carolina, but the sides were unable to come to an agreement. After resurrecting his career the past two seasons, he's drawing interest as a rotational lineman.

The Panthers are expected to re-sign veteran DE Tyler Brayton for 2010.

Brayton resurrected his career in Carolina in 2008 and the Panthers love his work ethic and high motor playing style. He also said last season that he would be "heartbroken" if the Panthers didn't bring him back. Brayton, 30, notched five sacks and 45 tackles in 15 games in 2009.

Panthers DE Tyler Brayton will miss Sunday's game against the Patriots with a concussion.

Brayton suffered the head injury in last week's win over the Bucs. The injury-plagued Panthers will be forced to start a different defensive unit for the 13th time through 13 games. Rookie Everette Brown will see extensive playing time.

Panthers DE Tyler Brayton left Sunday's win over the Bucs with a head injury and did not return.

No one in the Panthers' front seven can seem to stay healthy. Brayton was coming off a nine tackle, 1 1/2 sack game in Week 12 and it's unclear if he suffered a concussion.
Mon, Dec 7, 2009 10:01:00 AM

Tyler Brayton opened Panthers camp as the team's starter at left end.

Speedier DEs Charles Johnson and rookie Everette Brown will have plenty to say about this. Brayton is coming off a career best 4.5-sack season, but Johnson had six while playing off the bench and Brown led the ACC in sacks.
Mon, Aug 3, 2009 05:42:00 PM

Tyler Brayton started the Panthers' third preseason game at left defensive end.

He has the inside track over Charles Johnson and Stanley McClover, but there's a good chance they'll all rotate. Both Johnson and Brayton had a sack in the exhibition. Johnson is a better rusher, but Brayton can play the run.
Sun, Aug 24, 2008 10:48:00 PM

Tyler Brayton was the Panthers' first-team left defensive end as the Panthers opened up the minicamp season on Friday.

Carolina is serious about using Julius Peppers on the weak side. For now, Charles Johnson and Stanley McClover will be looked at as situational ends.
