Date:

Free agent WR Griff Whalen is expected to re-sign with the Ravens.

He'll sign Thursday as long as he passes his physical. The Ravens desperately need healthy bodies with Jeremy Maclin (shoulder), Breshad Perriman (concussion) and Mike Wallace (back) all listed on the injury report. Whalen carries no fantasy significance.
Oct 18 - 4:52 PM

Ravens released WR Griff Whalen and waived OLB Brennen Beyer.

Whalen was completely buried on the Ravens' depth chart, catching four passes for 32 scoreless yards this preseason. At 27, Whalen is just about done.
Sep 1 - 12:40 PM

Ravens signed WR Griff Whalen.

Most famous for botching a ludicrously ill-advised swinging gate play against the Patriots two years ago, the 27-year-old journeyman will join his fifth NFL team in six seasons. A fringe player who sees most of his snaps on special teams, Whalen isn't a lock to make Baltimore's 53-man roster.
Jul 21 - 2:34 PM

Free agent WR Griff Whalen worked out for the Ravens on Friday.

Whalen, 27, made some noise early in his career with the Colts, but he's dangerously close to falling out of the league at this point. He caught two passes across eight games for the Chargers last season and also spent some time on the Patriots' roster.
Jul 21 - 11:40 AM

Patriots waived WR Griff Whalen.

The Patriots cut him to clear a roster spot for Michael Floyd, who was claimed off waivers from Arizona. Whalen was only on the team for a week and was a healthy scratch against the Ravens on Monday night.

Patriots signed WR Griff Whalen.

The Pats needed a warm body at receiver after Danny Amendola suffered a high-ankle sprain. Whalen can run routes out of the slot and contribute on special teams.

Chargers signed WR Griff Whalen, formerly of the Dolphins.

A 26-year-old journeyman, Whalen is on his third team over the past two seasons, having also spent time in Indianapolis and Miami. He was among the Dolphins' final cuts in early September. Whalen will give San Diego some depth behind Travis Benjamin, Tyrell Williams, Dontrelle Inman, and Isaiah Burse.

Dolphins waived WR Griff Whalen.

He lost his roster spot to Justin Hunter, which is a terribly depressing sentence. Whalen was widely expected to stick on the roster because of his relationship with OC Clyde Christensen and his veteran presence in a very young receiver room. He should pop up somewhere else in the near future.

The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero believes Dolphins WR Griff Whalen is "on course" for a roster spot.

Dolphins OC Clyde Christensen was the QBs coach with Whalen in Indianapolis, so he might have had a leg up to start. Still, he has reportedly been solid in camp, and he is an asset on special teams. Despite the roster spot, Whalen is unlikely to come into fantasy value this season.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Griff Whalen has a "legitimate chance" to be the Dolphins' No. 4 receiver.

OC Clyde Christensen was the QBs coach when Whalen was in Indianapolis, which should help as he adjusts to the Dolphins' new scheme. Whalen was never a huge playmaker in Indy, but coach Adam Gase is impressed by his versatility. "He has the flexibility to go outside, but his big thing was third downs in Indy," said Gase. "This was an opportunity for us to bring in a guy who we thought was a good player who plays special teams, has done some returning in the past."

Dolphins signed WR Griff Whalen.

Whalen has been out of the league since getting waived from the Colts in January. With Greg Jennings and Rishard Matthews gone, he'll compete for Miami's No. 4 receiver job behind Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker, and Kenny Stills. 26-year-old Whalen can also return kicks.

Colts waived WR Griff Whalen off injured reserve.

Whalen was placed on I.R. two weeks ago with broken ribs. The 25-year-old is now free to latch on elsewhere in time for the offseason program.

Colts placed WR Griff Whalen on injured reserve with broken ribs, ending his season.

His season ends with 19 catches for 205 yards and one touchdown. Whalen, 25, is a borderline NFL talent whose familiarity with the Colts' coaching staff and "grit" have kept him around for three years. An impending exclusive rights free agent, Whalen will return to compete for a roster spot in 2016.
Mon, Dec 21, 2015 03:51:00 PM

Griff Whalen caught 5-of-6 targets for 73 yards Week 9 against the Broncos.

Whalen was tackled inside the five in the second quarter and converted two important third downs in the second half. Whalen now has 11 targets over the last two games after seeing four total in the first seven weeks. He should be pushing Andre Johnson for snaps.
