Bengals reinstated LB Brandon Joiner from the reserve/did not report list.

The 2011 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year spent his rookie season in jail. He was serving time for his role in a 2007 robbery, as well as drug charges. The Bengals were aware of Joiner's legal situation when they signed him as an undrafted free agent. Although the Bengals displayed great faith in Joiner's abilities by signing him in spite of his off-the-field issues, he'll be a roster long-shot.

Imprisoned for robbery and felony drug charges in 2012, LB Brandon Joiner is expected to report for the Bengals' offseason conditioning program in April.

Joiner was sentenced to concurrent three-year terms last May for an incident that took place when he was 18. He served eight months and was freed on January 15. The Bengals stashed Joiner on their reserve/did not report list. A star D-IAA pass rusher, Joiner will compete for a roster spot during the offseason.

Former Bengals LB Brandon Joiner was released from jail Tuesday.

Joiner signed with the Bengals as an undrafted rookie out of Arkansas State in 2012. He then ended up doing eight months on a robbery and felony drug charge stemming from a 2007 incident while at Texas A&M. Now out on parole, Joiner will attempt to resurrect his career. We know the Bengals aren't shy about giving troubled players second chances.

Bengals undrafted rookie LB Brandon Joiner has been sentenced to three years in prison for two counts of aggravated robbery and one charge of felony drug possession.

Joiner and another former Texas A&M player broke into an apartment and robbed a drug dealer at gunpoint. When police searched his home, they found marijuana, hydrocodone and Ecstacy. Joiner's attorney expects him to be released from prison in 6-9 months assuming good behavior. Later transferring to Arkansas State, Joiner was Defensive Player of the Year in the Sun Belt last season.
