Patriots declined to extend a qualifying offer to WR Brian Tyms, making him a free agent.

Tyms was arguably the first star of the 2014 preseason, posting an 11-188-2 line while grading out as PFF's No. 1 wideout. Still just 26 years old and now free to pick his landing spot, he's a name to monitor.

Patriots WR Brian Tyms is inactive for Super Bowl XLIX.

Tyms wound up appearing in 11 regular season games for the Pats, securing five balls for 82 yards and a touchdown. He didn't show enough special teams value to crack the Super Bowl game-day roster. Turning 26 in February, Tyms remains a player to monitor in Dynasty leagues after ripping up the 2014 preseason. He's 6-foot-1, 203 with a top-flight athletic profile.
Feb 1 - 6:03 PM

Brian Tyms caught 4-of-6 targets for 39 yards Week 17 against the Bills.

Tyms had three early catches from Tom Brady in the first quarter, but was completely shut down by the Bills secondary after that. After lighting up the preseason, Tyms finished the regular season with just five catches for 82 yards.

Brian Tyms wasn't targeted in New England's Week 7 win over the Jets.

Tyms' 43-yard touchdown was one of the biggest plays of New England's Week 6 win over the Bills, while he spent the whole week getting showered with praise from the coaching staff. Alas, he's a situational deep threat who apparently isn't ready for a bigger role. Tyms should remain stashed in Dynasty formats, but isn't much of a threat to come into re-draft value.

WR Brian Tyms earned "rave reviews" from Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels earlier this week.

Tyms only played eight snaps against the Bills last week, but made his mark with a 43-yard touchdown. Those that watched the preseason closely weren't surprised, as Tyms ripped off a 11-188-2 line while grading out as PFF's No. 1 wideout. It appears he'll be active again Thursday night, possibly at the expense of Aaron Dobson. Tyms needs to be rostered in all Dynasty formats and should at least be on re-draft watch lists.

Brian Tyms had one catch for 43 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Bills.

Tyms saw limited time in three-wide sets as a situational deep threat. He finished with just eight snaps, and was targeted just two times by Tom Brady. Tyms should continue to push for a bigger role going forward. He's on the WR4/5 radar.

Patriots WR Brian Tyms is active for Week 6.

Tyms was activated from the suspension list this week. With Danny Amendola struggling, he could push for snaps on the outside in three-wide sets. Aaron Dobson is also active against the Bills.

Patriots activated WR Brian Tyms from suspension.

As the Pats need all the help they can get on the perimeter -- and seem down on Aaron Dobson -- Tyms is worth a look in 14- and 16-team fantasy leagues. He should be owned in all Dynasty settings. A 25-year-old preseason star, Tyms is an insane athlete. At 6-foot-1, 203, Tyms ran 4.48 with a highly explosive 10-foot-10 broad jump and 39 1/2-inch vertical at Florida A&M's 2012 Pro Day.

The Patriots have yet to activate WR Brian Tyms or CB Brandon Browner.

Both players are returning from four-game suspensions. The Patriots can use a one-game roster exemption to hold the players through Week 5, but will either have to add them to the 53-man roster or release them on Monday. With Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins in the doghouse, Tyms could be the spark the Patriots' offense needs on the outside. At 6-4, 221, Browner would provide a physical presence to a defense that was run over by the Chiefs on Monday night.

Patriots WR Brian Tyms has been reinstated from suspension.

Tyms is a name for deep-leaguers to monitor. He was spectacular in the preseason, grading out as PFF's No. 1 WR while posting an 11-188-2 line. Given that Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins both appear in the doghouse, we wouldn't rule out Tyms making an impact at some point.

The Boston Herald's Jeff Howe reports suspended WR Brian Tyms will remain with the Patriots during his four-game ban.

It was a no-brainer move for the Pats. Tyms will not count against New England's roster during his four-game suspension, and was stellar this preseason, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 wide receiver. Tyms will battle for snaps at the bottom of New England's wide receiver depth chart when he returns.

Suspended WR Brian Tyms had three catches for 29 yards and a touchdown in Friday night's preseason game against the Eagles.

He was targeted a team-high seven times. Tyms continued his strong start to the preseason and now has eight catches, 148 yards, and two touchdowns through two games. He won't count against New England's roster during his four-game suspension. Tyms could push for snaps in five-wide sets when he returns.

Patriots WR Brian Tyms is suspended for the first four games of the season.

Tyms was suspended back in May, but this flew under the radar because he's obviously not a big name. He reportedly tested positive for Adderall. Tyms had a huge preseason opener, going off for a 5/119/1 line against Washington. This could actually work in his favor, as the Patriots won't have to use a roster spot to keep him. Tyms is eligible to return in Week 5.

Patriots WR Brian Tyms caught five passes for 119 yards and a touchdown in New England's preseason opener against the Redskins.

Tyms was a juggled ball away from a 6/157/2 evening. It was an impressive performance, granted one that came against second- and third-team defenders. Tyms struck up an immediate connection with No. 2/3 QB Jimmy Garoppolo, catching a 26-yard dime with time running out for the Pats' only score. Although he's been generating hype all camp, Tyms is facing long odds of cracking the Pats' crowded receiver corps. He's essentially auditioning for other teams.
