ESPN Rams reporter Nick Wagoner doesn't expect QB Austin Davis to make the 53-man roster.
With Nick Foles and third-rounder Sean Mannion locked into their roster spots, Davis is left to battle Case Keenum. Davis briefly shined as a spot starter last season, but eventually made like Icarus, flying too close to the sun. Neither Davis nor Keenum would be an appealing No. 2 behind Foles. Jul 23 - 4:26 PM

Rams re-signed restricted free agent QB Austin Davis to a one-year, $1.542 million contract.

The Rams tendered Davis at the lowest level, and it wouldn't have required any other team to part with a draft pick to sign him. It's a sign neither St. Louis nor the rest of the league thinks that highly of Davis. He'll compete with Case Keenum and a rookie for the Rams' backup job behind new starter Nick Foles.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports the Browns inquired about Rams QB Austin Davis earlier this offseason.

The Browns apparently brought up Davis when the teams were having Sam Bradford discussions. The Davis ship has presumably sailed after Cleveland lavished $6.5 million guaranteed on Josh McCown. Davis will compete with Case Keenum to back up Nick Foles in 2015.

Rams extended tenders to restricted free agents QB Austin Davis and FB/TE Cory Harkey.

Both players were given the original pick tender. Davis made eight starts last year before getting benched for Shaun Hill in Week 11. Harkey should return as the Rams' No. 2 tight end behind Jared Cook.

The Rams have benched QB Austin Davis.

Shaun Hill will get the start under center this week against the Broncos. After a hot start that laughably had respected football people comparing Davis to Hall of Famers Kurt Warner, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Brett Favre, Davis predictably melted down once defenses figured him out. He's a weak-armed turnover machine with four pick-sixes and two fumble-sixes across eight starts. The final nail in his coffin was a fourth-quarter collapse against Arizona last week, when Davis threw an interception, pick-six, and lost a fumble-six on three straight possessions. He's nothing more than a backup.

Coach Jeff Fisher confirmed the Rams will stick with Austin Davis as their starting quarterback for Week 11 against the Broncos.

It would have been a mild surprise to see Fisher go to Shaun Hill. But Davis completely went up in flames in the fourth quarter Sunday against the Cardinals. The Rams had a 14-10 lead, but Davis threw an interception that led to a touchdown for Arizona, then threw a pick-six on the following possession, before losing a fumble that was returned for a score on the possession after that. He genuinely looked overwhelmed. Davis has been exposed of late now that defenses have a book on him. But the Rams have nothing to gain by going back to Hill.

Austin Davis completed 17-of-30 passes for 216 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in the Rams' 31-14, Week 10 loss to the Cardinals.

The Rams were actually leading at the half and into the fourth quarter before Davis went up in flames, turning the ball over at will on three straight possessions. He tossed an interception to Patrick Peterson, before Peterson picked Davis off on the very next drive and returned it for a touchdown. The Rams got the ball back and Davis fumbled-sixed one to the Cardinals. He's now tossed four pick-sixes and had two fumbles returned for scores this season. He's doing the Rams more harm than good. It might be time to go back and see what Shaun Hill has to offer.

Austin Davis completed 13-of-24 passes for 105 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the 49ers Week 9.

St. Louis won despite Davis, who struggled for the second straight week. Davis' first interception was a bad stare down on the sideline, and his second pick came on an underthrow of a wide-open Kenny Britt. Through eight games this season Davis is on pace for 3,570 yards, 22 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Austin Davis completed 15-of-25 passes for 160 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Rams' blowout Week 8 loss to the Chiefs.

Davis took a whopping seven sacks and lost three of his starting offensive linemen to injury. He found Lance Kendricks for an opening-drive, one-yard touchdown, but it was all downhill from there. On the second series, Davis heaved one into double-coverage to Kenny Britt for an easy Chiefs interception. Davis has been held under 236 yards passing in each of his past three starts to go along with a 4:2 TD:INT ratio. He's safely on the back end of the QB2 spectrum. Good luck against the 49ers in San Fran next week.

Austin Davis completed 18-of-21 passes for 152 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions in the Rams' Week 7 win over the Seahawks.

Davis dinked and dunked his way down the field all afternoon, settling for short passes to his running backs and tight ends. It wasn't flashy by any means, but successful after struggling badly in Week 6 against San Francisco. The lone shot he took downfield was a 30-yard completion to Chris Givens. Davis completed 86 percent of his passes and hooked up with Benny Cunningham and Lance Kendricks for five- and four-yard scores, respectively. Davis is a back-end QB2 with a dreadful schedule (at KC, at SF, at ARZ, vs. DEN, at SD) ahead.

Austin Davis completed just 21-of-42 passes for 236 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Rams' 31-17, Week 6 loss to the 49ers on Monday night.

Davis entered the game completing about 68 percent of his passes. That version of Davis was nowhere to be found tonight. He couldn't hook up with any of his receivers deep and made some very questionable throws. With the 49ers taking Brian Quick away or Quick not winning his routes, Davis leaned on Jared Cook in the passing game, targeting his tight end 11 times. Davis is fun to watch as a risk-taker and cold-blooded passer, but he's more 2013 Case Keenum than the Drew Brees, Brett Favre, and Jay Cutler comparisons we've heard over the past month. He'll be a bottom-barrel QB2 vs. Seattle in Week 7.

Austin Davis completed 29-of-39 passes for 375 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's Week 5 loss at Philadelphia.

Once Davis got settled in against this awful Eagles secondary, he shredded. Using third-year breakout WR Brian Quick as his go-to guy and Jared Cook underneath, he nearly brought the Rams back from a 34-7 third-quarter deficit to secure an unlikely win. Davis' last two games need to be taken with a big grain of salt as they've come against Dallas and Philly, but he's completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 702 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions. He'd be a better QB2 add if he didn't have to face San Francisco and Seattle in the next two weeks.

Coach Jeff Fisher announced that Austin Davis will be the Rams' starting quarterback moving forward.

Fisher says there will be "no short hook." After initially claiming Shaun Hill would resume the starting job once 100 percent healthy from a Week 1 thigh injury, Fisher has changed course. Rightfully so. Among quarterbacks with at least 90 pass attempts, Davis is tops in the league with his 72.3 completion percentage. He's averaging a healthy 8.0 YPA with a 3:3 TD:INT ratio. He's had a couple back-breaking turnovers, but Davis has generally moved the offense pretty well. Davis has a plus matchup against the Eagles this week, but is still a QB2. Davis isn't the long-term option past 2014. The Rams should know that.

Austin Davis completed 30-of-42 passes for 327 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in Sunday's Week 3 loss to the Cowboys.

Davis got the Rams out to a three-score lead before throwing two interceptions in the second half -- including a pick-six to Cowboys LB Bruce Carter. He connected with Brian Quick for a 51-yard strike against blown coverage, with his other two touchdowns coming on short throws inside the red-zone. Davis took advantage of a matchup with a Cowboys defense that was playing without two of its starting linebackers. He'll remain the Rams starter coming out of their Week 4 bye.

The St. Louis Post Dispatch's Jim Thomas reports Austin Davis got the "lion's share" of the Rams' first-team quarterback reps at Wednesday's practice.

Shaun Hill (thigh) participated in individual drills and remains day-to-day. Case Keenum received a couple of reps with the starters in 11-on-11 drills. But Austin Davis is the clear favorite to start against the Cowboys after leading the Rams to a 19-17 win over the Bucs last Sunday. The Rams will pound the ball on the ground and let Davis "manage" the game with short passes. He's a low-end QB2/3.
