Jaguars FS Tashaun Gipson (knee) is active for Week 6 against the Bears.
Gipson sprained his knee in Week 4, but evidently got healthy enough during the bye to suit up against the Bears' hot pass defense. Jaguars FS Tashaun Gipson (knee) was downgraded to questionable for Week 6 against the Bears.

Gipson was not listed on the initial report. Late-week downgrades are always a concern, but the safety was able to practice in full Friday. As of now, he should be expected to play.

Gipson suffered a sprained knee Week 4. The Thursday return gives him a chance to play, but he is still at best questionable.

Jaguars FS Tashaun Gipson (knee) did not practice Monday.

Gipson suffered a sprained knee Week 4 against the Colts. It is concerning he was not able to participate coming off the bye week, but he still has time to get ready for the Bears on Sunday. Even so, he is at best questionable for that game.

Jaguars FS Tashaun Gipson suffered a sprained knee Week 4 against the Colts.

We did not see him leave the game. He played all but 11 snaps, suggesting the injury happened late. He will have the bye week to heal up before facing the Bears Week 6.

Jaguars FS Tashaun Gipson was added to the injury report Friday with a hamstring injury and is listed as questionable for Week 3

Late-week additions are never good, but coach Gus Bradley thinks Gipson will "be fine." Gipson agrees, saying there is "no doubt" he will play. With Prince Amukamara (hamstring, questionable) unlikely to play after sitting out practice all week, an already struggling secondary could be shorthanded against the Ravens.

Jaguars signed FS Tashaun Gipson, formerly of the Browns, to a five-year, $35.5 million contract.

The deal includes $12 million guaranteed. Jacksonville is not winning free agency at the level of the Giants or Dolphins, but they are throwing plenty of money around on defense. After signing Malik Jackson to a massive deal to upgrade the pass rush, the Jags are bringing in the ball-hawking Gipson to shore up the secondary. Gipson should be a big upgrade over Josh Evans and Sergio Brown, but Jacksonville still has some work to do on the back end. For Cleveland, they have now lost four top-tier players on the first day of free agency.

Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer sees free agent FS Tashaun Gipson as a good fit for the Eagles.

Eagles VP of football operations Howie Roseman usually targets "ascending players in their mid-20s" and Gipson would seem to fit that criteria. Berman suggested the Eagles could also pursue George Iloka with Rodney McLeod and Isa Abdul-Quddus as possible fallback options. Philadelphia is looking to replace free agent Walter Thurmond, who saw time at both safety positions last season.

The Newark Star-Ledger's Jordan Raanan "heard" free agent FS Tashaun Gipson "would welcome the idea" of playing for the Giants.

No team may be more desperate for a deep, centerfield-type safety than the Giants. Expect them to exhaust all avenues to find a free safety after failing to replace Antrel Rolle last offseason and cycling through a host of warm bodies at the position. Gipson shouldn't command a ton following a down year.

Free agent FS Tashaun Gipson told teammate SS Donte Whitner that he's not "too hopeful" that he'll be re-signed by the Browns.

This has been the feeling from Gipson for a while now, as he's hinted for a while that the Browns haven't been engaging in contract negotiations after his disappointing, injury-riddled 2015 season. Expect Gipson to still be an attractive player on the open market. He's proven to be a playmaking ballhawk.

The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs suggests free agent FS Tashaun Gipson could interest the Bears.

Per the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Gipson "hasn't heard much from the Browns" since last season ended, and "is prepared to move on." Safety is an annual need in Chicago, where Adrian Amos has nailed down one spot but Antrel Rolle is fading at the other. After a disappointing, injury-ravaged 2015 campaign, Gipson may field one-year, prove-it offers as a 25-year-old free agent.

Free agent FS Tashaun Gipson doesn't expect to be re-signed by the Browns.

Gipson wants to return to Cleveland and play under new DC Ray Horton, who was the Browns' defensive boss back in 2013 when Gipson became a starter. But to this point, the Browns haven't engaged in contract talks with Gipson. The ballhawking centerfield-type should have plenty of suitors, even after a down season that saw him battle a high-ankle sprain.

The Newark Star-Ledger expects the Giants to have interest in free agent FS Tashaun Gipson.

The Giants were forced to go with Brandon Meriweather/Craig Dahl opposite Landon Collins last year. Gipson is fully expected to test free agency after holding out of 2015 OTAs. The Giants have also been linked to free agents Eric Weddle and George Iloka.

ESPN Cleveland doesn’t expect contract-year FS Tashaun Gipson to re-sign with the Browns.

Gipson held out most of OTAs before signing his second-round tender. It’s been widely assumed he'll move on after this year. Gipson has missed three games to injuries and hasn’t made an impact when healthy, but will be one of the top free-agent safeties in 2016.

Browns FS Tashaun Gipson (ankle) said he'll play Week 8 against the Cardinals despite being listed as questionable.

Gipson returned to practice on Wednesday and should be ready to after missing the last three games with an ankle injury. Jordan Poyer filled in at free safety during his absence.
