Packers OG Don Barclay exited the preseason opener with an ankle injury.

Barclay could not put any weight on the leg as he was helped off the field, and he had to ride the cart into the locker room. We should know more soon, but it looks like he could be dealing with a serious injury.
Aug 10 - 9:27 PM

Packers OLs Don Barclay, Kyle Murphy, and Lucas Patrick are expected to compete for the starting job at right guard.

After RG T.J. Lang left to sign a free-agent deal with the Lions, the Packers are looking to replace a longtime starting guard for the second year in a row. Barclay was re-signed to a one-year, $1.3 million deal in March but has largely disappointed when pressed into snaps. Murphy was a sixth-round pick last year. Green Bay could look to take a lineman early in this weekend's draft.

Barclay made five spot starts last season, struggling mightily and allowing nine sacks while seeing action at both tackle positions. Barclay turns 27 years old later this month.

Packers G/T Don Barclay reportedly suffered a torn ACL during practice Tuesday.

Packers G/T Don Barclay was carted off the field Tuesday with a knee injury.

Barclay is being evaluated, but it doesn't sound good for the Packers' super sub. He started 15 games at right tackle last season and can play anywhere along the line. Derek Sherrod and Cory Linsley will be the sixth and seventh linemen if Barclay is to miss extended time. Green Bay can't afford more injuries up front.

ESPN Packers blogger Rob Demovsky believes OL Don Barclay could be the team's top reserve lineman at "several positions."

Barclay filled in for Bryan Bulaga at right tackle last season, but was ineffective. "Donny has the ability to potentially play five positions on the offensive line," coach Mike McCarthy said Tuesday. "I don't know how many guys you can say that about." Barclay has seen time at both guard and tackle this spring, and may even take reps at center.
