Chiefs signed WR Rod Streater, formerly of the Raiders, to a one-year deal "worth up to" $4.8 million.
Streater took visits with the Patriots and Jets, but his best shot at a roster spot was with the Chiefs. A seemingly ascending receiver before spending all of 2015 as a healthy scratch, Streater has a good shot to crack Kansas City's thin receiver corps. Mar 12 - 1:34 PM

Date:

Free agent WR Rod Streater is visiting the Chiefs Saturday.

He was linked with the Kansas City earlier this week. The Chiefs need depth at receiver, and Streater looked like a promising possession guy before spending most of 2015 as a healthy scratch. He has also visited the Patriots and Jets.

Free agent WR Rod Streater is visiting the Patriots on Thursday.

Streater is also expected to visit the Jets, but that won't happen if the Patriots make him an offer first. Streater played 10 snaps in Week 1 last season but didn't play a single down thereafter as he tumbled down to the bottom of the depth chart. He's still just 28 and is a technician in the short area.
Mar 10 - 4:28 PM

Free agent Rod Streater will visit the Jets on Friday.

The ex-Raider has also been linked to the Chiefs. Streater spent most of 2015 as a healthy scratch, but teams evidently like the film they've been digging into. The Jets lack proven depth behind Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.
Mar 10 - 12:14 PM

The Kansas City Star reports the Chiefs are interested in free agent Rod Streater.

Streater disappeared for the Raiders last season, spending most of the year as a healthy scratch. The Chiefs have one of the league's thinnest receiver corps, but Streater would be a depth signing who isn't guaranteed to crack the 53-man roster if he ends up in Kansas City.
Mar 7 - 1:54 PM

Raiders declared WR Rod Streater, CB Dexter McDonald, TE Gabe Holmes, CB SaQwan Edwards, DB Tevin McDonald, LB John Lotulelei and OL Matt McCants inactive for Week 17 against the Chiefs.

There are no surprises here. Streater will enter free agency after spending most of 2015 as a healthy scratch.
Jan 3 - 2:59 PM

Raiders declared WR Rod Streater, WR Walter Powell, CB Dexter McDonald, OL Jon Feliciano, OL Matt McCants, DT Justin Ellis, and DL Denico Autry inactive for Week 7 against the Chargers.

Streater has fallen behind Seth Roberts and Andre Holmes on Oakland's wideout depth chart, in addition to starters Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree.

Raiders declared WR Rod Streater, CB Dexter McDonald, FB Jamize Olawale, OL Jon Feliciano, OL Matt McCants, DT Justin Ellis, and DE Benson Mayowa inactive for Week 2 against Baltimore.

Rod Streater caught three passes for 20 yards in the Raiders' third preseason game.

Streater got off to a slow start at training camp, but he mixed in with the ones during Oakland's third preseason game, operating as the No. 3 wideout behind Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. The Raiders are expected to primarily run a shotgun/three-wide offense. If they do, Streater should be a regular alongside Cooper and Crabtree in three-receiver packages.

Raiders activated WR Rod Streater from the active/PUP list.

He missed the first two-plus weeks of training camp with an undisclosed illness. Streater is a versatile player capable of handling any of the three wide receiver positions. He should be the heavy favorite to open the season as Oakland's No. 3 receiver, behind Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree.

Rod Streater is reportedly still on the Raiders' active/NFI list due to an "illness."

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports Streater "lost some weight" due to the illness, which remains undisclosed. Caplan says Streater will come off the list "as soon as he's back to full strength." Streater is the favorite to handle third receiver duties in Oakland, but is missing valuable reps in a new offense.

Raiders WR Rod Streater (undisclosed) still has not participated in training camp.

As indicated above, Streater's injury has yet to be disclosed. He's been on the active/NFI list for nine days now. Streater led the Raiders in receiving in 2013, before missing almost all of 2014 with a fractured foot. When Streater returns, he'll vie for third receiver snaps behind Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. At this point, Streater poses no threat to Crabtree's starting job.

Raiders placed WR Rod Streater on the active/NFI list.

Streater reportedly looked healthy and explosive at spring practices, coming off last year's fractured foot. So his placement on the NFI list is a surprise. Typically in these cases, the player failed his conditioning test.
