Jonathan Grimes rushed three times for 14 yards in the Texans' third preseason game.
Grimes was the second Texans tailback through the rotation, playing behind Alfred Blue and ahead of both Chris Polk and Kenny Hilliard. Grimes played briefly with both the Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett groups before exiting so the Texans could get longer looks at Polk and Hilliard. Through three preseason games, Grimes has 13 carries for 41 yards and three catches for 22 yards. Aug 30 - 6:57 PM

Texans RB Jonathan Grimes rushed five times for 23 yards in Saturday's preseason game, adding two receptions for an additional 12 yards.

Grimes was the first man off the bench behind fill-in starter Alfred Blue. He operated as a three-down back for the majority of the second quarter before giving way to Chris Polk and Kenny Hilliard. Grimes should get plenty of work in passing situations while Arian Foster (groin) rehabs. He has 10 carries for 27 yards through two preseason games, adding three catches for 22 yards.

Jonathan Grimes rushed for 45 yards on 11 carries in the Texans' Week 17 win over the Jaguars, adding two catches for 23 yards.

He saw more work than normal with Arian Foster leaving the game in the first quarter with a knee injury. Operating as the Texans' No. 3 back for most of the season, Grimes rushed for 153 yards on 39 carries. He caught six passes for 86 yards. Grimes is a talented 25-year-old who's under contract through next season at the minimum. He'll be back to compete for a backup job.

Jonathan Grimes rushed twice for 16 yards and caught three balls for 32 yards in the Texans' Week 12 loss to Cincinnati.

One week after the Texans piled up 54 team rushing attempts in a win over Cleveland, the Houston run game was not nearly as successful. Therefore, change-of-pace and third-down back Grimes handled just the five touches compared to Alfred Blue's 19. Game flow simply didn't allow for more work. Arian Foster (groin) is tentatively due back in Week 13. Houston's third-string tailback, Grimes is not worth rostering in 12- or 14-team fantasy leagues.

Texans RB Jonathan Grimes rushed 13 times for 54 yards in the team's Week 11 win over the Browns.

The Texans played with a lead almost all game, and wound up handing their running backs a combined 49 carries, with Alfred Blue getting a franchise-record 36 of them. Grimes mostly served as a third-down and change-of-pace back, but ran hard and finished his runs. He is an underrated prospect out of William & Mary. Grimes is worth rostering in deeper Dynasty leagues.

Texans RB Jonathan Grimes rushed three times for nine yards in Sunday's Week 2 win over the Raiders.

Rookie Alfred Blue had 11 carries, which suggests Grimes may have fallen behind the sixth-rounder on Houston's depth chart. No longer a clear handcuff for Arian Foster, Grimes' fantasy value is now in serious question.

Jonathan Grimes rushed one time for two yards in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Redskins.

Arian Foster (29 touches) barely came off the field, so we couldn't get a good read on the handcuff situation. We did note that when Foster tapped out at one critical point in the fourth quarter, Alfred Blue (one carry) came on.

Jonathan Grimes rushed five times for 22 yards with a touchdown and caught one pass for 24 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Broncos.

Grimes and Alfred Blue formed a first-team committee with Arian Foster sitting out. Although Blue got the "start" against Denver, Grimes appears to have his nose in front as he's rushed 24 times for 103 yards with one touchdown and caught four passes for 49 yards in three preseason games. Considering the state of Foster's body, Grimes is well worth a late-round flier.

Jonathan Grimes rushed nine times for 42 yards and caught three passes for 25 yards in Houston's second preseason game Saturday night.

Grimes also returned a blocked punt 17 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, a play that will surely appeal to Belichick disciple Bill O'Brien. Grimes remains in the driver's seat to back up Arian Foster this season, giving him more than enough theoretical fantasy value to be rostered in all leagues. Grimes now has 19 carries for 81 yards (4.26 YPC) through two exhibitions.

Jonathan Grimes is listed as Arian Foster's backup on the Texans' "unofficial" depth chart.

The news was trumpeted by the Texans' website. It was expected after Houston cut Andre Brown. Grimes has to hold off sixth-rounder Alfred Blue, as well as veterans Ronnie Brown and William Powell, but is the favorite for the job. Considering Foster's continual health issues, Grimes will be one of the most important handcuffs in all of fantasy if he can nail down No. 2 duties.

Jonathan Grimes has emerged as the favorite for the Texans' primary backup running back job.

Coach Bill O'Brien confirmed Grimes is ahead of rookie Alfred Blue, while veteran Andre Brown seems to be pulling up the rear. Grimes had impressive measurables coming out of William & Mary two years ago, running 4.53 at his Pro Day with a 38-inch vertical and explosive 10-foot-5 broad jump at 5-foot-10, 207. He's worth considering late in re-draft leagues and rostering in Dynasty. There are reasons to believe Arian Foster's body is beginning to break down.

Texans RB Jonathan Grimes was a surprise starter for Saturday's preseason opener against the Cardinals, rushing 10 times for 39 yards.

Andre Brown was expected to start with Arian Foster sidelined, but was a mysterious absence. Grimes got the nod instead, with rookie Alfred Blue earning some first-team looks, as well. With two injury-prone running backs ahead of him, Grimes is a name to know this season.

Jonathan Grimes rushed 16 times for 50 yards and one touchdown in Houston's Week 17 loss at Tennessee.

Grimes also led the Texans in receiving by catching six passes for 76 yards. The Texans' fifth-string running back was the offense Sunday. He doesn't have special talent but has some bounce in his step. Grimes had the freshest legs on the field Sunday. He'll compete for a roster spot in 2014.

Jonathan Grimes will be the Texans' Week 17 starter at running back.

Dennis Johnson is questionable with a hip injury, while Deji Karim is done for the year with a broken collarbone. A second-year undrafted free agent, Grimes has seven career carries, five of which came Sunday against the Broncos. He's an unknown commodity, but has a favorable matchup in the Titans' run-of-the-mill run defense. He'll be a bottom-dollar option in daily leagues.

Texans RB Jonathan Grimes rushed five times for 23 yards in Houston's Week 16 loss to the Broncos.

Grimes was the No. 3 back through the rotation, behind Dennis Johnson and Deji Karim. Because Grimes outproduced both on a per-carry basis, it's possible he'll see more carries in Week 17 against Tennessee.
