Former Jaguars WR Jerry Porter tore his Achilles' tendon in Montreal Alouttes training camp this week.
This will do it for Porter's football career, in all likelihood. Now 33 years old, Porter was last in the big leagues with Jacksonville in 2008. Porter's best fantasy seasons occurred in 2004 and 2005 with the Raiders, when he finished as a top-26 receiver and scored a combined 14 touchdowns. Free agent WR Jerry Porter has signed with the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL.

Porter hasn't played in the NFL since bottoming out as a free agent bust with the Jaguars in 2008. Turning 32 in July, Porter's NFL career is likely finished.

Free agent wideouts Jerry Porter, Roydell Williams and Marques Hagans are at the Redskins voluntary minicamp this weekend for an apparent audition.

Porter, 31 and out of the league last season, would not threaten Santana Moss, Devin Thomas or Malcolm Kelly. Hagans has been on the Redskins bubble for the last couple of seasons.

In addition to Matt Jones, the Titans are working out free agent wideouts Jerry Porter and Samie Parker on Thursday.

Jones is the youngest of the three and definitely has the most left. The Titans are digging for someone to push Lavelle Hawkins. The winner would likely be their No. 3 receiver until Nate Washington (hamstring) rejoins the lineup.

Jerry Porter and D.J. Hackett are the most intriguing names, with special teamers Kelley Washington and Tab Perry also in the mix. The Ravens are looking for a big receiver and could sign all or none depending on workouts.

The Raiders have decided to not pursue free agent Jerry Porter, according to Raiderbeat.com.

Porter's market value took a tumble on Wednesday with Laveranues Coles, D.J. Hackett, and Drew Bennett released. Coles and Bennett, at least, will be more attractive signings. Porter may have to settle for a minimum contract.

The Raiders are reportedly showing heavy interest in free agent Jerry Porter and are likely to sign him soon.

Porter clashed with Oakland coach Art Shell in 2006, but had an OK contract year in 2007 before busting in Jacksonville last season. He shouldn't cost more than the minimum and the Raiders lack much experience at wideout.

He'll be cheap, but GM Jerry Angelo usually avoids taking risks on players with character issues. Porter won't generate much interest from anyone.

Jaguars released WR Jerry Porter and CB Drayton Florence.

The moves save $4.1 million under the cap. Porter and Florence were given deals totaling $66.5 million last offseason. Porter got $7.5 million in 2008 to catch 11 passes and (allegedly) tear apart the Jaguars' locker room. There are serious questions about Porter's ability to still get downfield and his attitude. Now 30, his career is at a major crossroads. He'll have to accept a short "prove it" deal just to get a job.

Owner Wayne Weaver said Wednesday that he intends to directly address the Jaguars' chemistry issues, even if it means taking cap hits.

"You do that by getting rid of some people and moving on with some people," he said. Jerry Porter, who teammates blamed for their in-season discord, is likely to go. Including bonuses and salary, he's due $3.9 million in 2009.

Jaguars placed WR Jerry Porter on injured reserve, ending his season.

Porter was our single biggest preseason projection misfire. After a quietly impressive season in Oakland that now looks like a cash grab, Porter hurt his hamstring in May and never really recovered. One gets the sense he didn't attack his rehab too vigourously. Porter finishes with eleven catches, almost $1 million per catch. The Associated Press doesn't believe he'll be back in Jacksonville next year. Expect this news to be relayed on other fantasy sites in roughly ten minutes.

Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said Tuesday that he is considering placing WR Jerry Porter on injured reserve with a groin injury.

With Matt Jones' suspension kicking in, the Jags are going to need healthy bodies at wide receiver. As it stands now, Mike Walker and Reggie Williams figure to be the primary beneficiaries -- although neither is a realistic option at fantasy playoff time.
