Fozzy Whittaker rushed five times for 22 yards in Carolina's Week 3 loss to the Vikings, adding five receptions for an additional 34 yards.
Running as the clear No. 2 behind Cameron Artis-Payne, a decent chunk of Whittaker's yardage came in garbage time. Whittaker didn't do anything to change the dynamic of Carolina's Jonathan Stewart-less backfield. CAP will remain the go-to guy against the Falcons in Week 4. Whittaker isn't a viable RB3. Panthers OC Mike Shula said he would likely handle the running back carries by committee without Jonathan Stewart (hamstring) in the lineup.

Fozzy Whittaker is the popular add this week following his 16-100 rushing day Week 2 after Stewart got hurt, but second-year RB Cameron Artis-Payne is expected to be active and split the load. Beat writer Scott Fowler envisions a DeAngelo Williams/Jonathan Stewart type of committee between Whittaker and CAP. When asked if Whittaker will handle 19 touches like he did this past week, Shula said "probably no." Look for each back to get 10-15 touches per game.

Fozzy Whittaker had 16 carries for 100 yards in Sunday's Week 2 win over the 49ers.

He added three catches for 31 yards. Whittaker replaced an injured Jonathan Stewart in the first quarter. He briefly left to be checked for a concussion, but only missed one drive. With Stewart's status up in the air, Whittaker should be one of this week's top pickups. Cameron Artis-Payne has been inactive the first two games, and figures to play behind Whittaker if Stewart is held out.
Sep 18 - 5:22 PM

Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker left Week 2 with a possible concussion.

Whittaker was forced into the game with Jonathan Stewart (ankle, hamstring) sidelined. He went down after losing a second-quarter fumble, but was cleared to return.
Sep 18 - 2:05 PM

Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) is listed as probable for Sunday's NFC Championship game against the Cardinals.

Whittaker's status was never in much doubt after putting in a full week of practice. He's third on Carolina's running back depth chart behind Jonathan Stewart and Cameron Artis-Payne.
Jan 22 - 4:40 PM

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) is on to track to play in Sunday's NFC Championship game against the Cardinals.

Whittaker returned to a full practice on Wednesday. He'll fight for scraps behind Jonathan Stewart on Sunday.
Jan 20 - 4:17 PM

Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) is expected back at practice Wednesday.

Whittaker has been sidelined three weeks with a high-ankle sprain. There was some worry outside the organization about Jonathan Stewart's (foot, ankle) status Monday, but coach Ron Rivera did not sound concerned. With Stewart almost certain to play, Whittaker will be a change-of-pace option if he suits up.
Jan 19 - 11:57 AM

Panthers declared RB Fozzy Whittaker, WR Brenton Bersin, DE Ryan Delaire, FS Dean Marlowe, WR Kevin Norwood, RB Brandon Wegher, and CB Lou Young inactive for Sunday's Divisional Round game against the Seahawks.

Whittaker (ankle) was ruled out earlier this week. Kony Ealy (illness), Ted Ginn (knee) and Jonathan Stewart (foot) are all active for Carolina.
Jan 17 - 11:59 AM

Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (high-ankle sprain) has been ruled out for the Divisional Round.

Whittaker's status has taken on less importance with Jonathan Stewart back to full health. Cameron Artis-Payne and Mike Tolbert will back up J-Stew against the Seahawks.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Fozzy Whittaker suffered a high-ankle sprain Week 16 against the Falcons.

Rapoport reports Whittaker will miss next week, but there is hope he could return for the playoffs. With Jonathan Stewart's (foot) status still up in the air, Cameron Artis-Payne could have a featured role in a tough matchup with the Bucs Week 17.

Fozzy Whittaker exited Week 16 against the Falcons with an ankle injury.

Whittaker rode the cart to the locker room and was spotted wearing a walking boot on his right foot after the game. Whittaker called the injury a sprain, but he is not sure about his timetable. With Jonathan Stewart's (foot) status still up in the air, Cameron Artis-Payne could have a featured role in a tough matchup with the Bucs next week.

Fozzy Whittaker earned 32 yards on five carries and caught both of his targets for six yards in the Panthers' Week 16 loss to the Falcons.

Whittaker drew the start ahead of Cameron Artis-Payne and Mike Tolbert. He rushed four times for 34 yards on Carolina’s opening drive. Whittaker only saw one more carry after that and it went for negative yardage. The Whittaker/Artis-Payne/Tolbert trio will go back into hibernation as soon as Jonathan Stewart returns from a sprained foot.

Fozzy Whittaker managed just 16 yards on four touches in Carolina's Week 15 win over the Giants.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Whittaker would "start," but that didn't happen. Mike Tolbert started, but it was Cameron Artis-Payne who led the Panthers in touches, taking the ball 16 times compared to five for Tolbert and four for Whittaker. Even if Jonathan Stewart (foot) sits again in Week 16, Whittaker will be miles from fantasy relevance. The Panthers want to see what Artis-Payne has before the playoffs.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Panthers will start Fozzy Whittaker against the Giants.

However, RapSheet adds the Panthers "want to get (Cameron) Artis-Payne going," and Mike Tolbert will play "25 snaps." RapSheet believes Artis-Payne "will get more carries" than Whittaker against the G-Men. This has all the appearances of a full-blown, three-way running back committee.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Fozzy Whittaker "likely will start" Sunday against the Giants.

Rivera softened that statement a little by adding that Mike Tolbert could also start. Cameron Artis-Payne will also be in the mix. That trio has combined for just 456 yards on 98 touches this year compared to 1,088 on 258 touches for injured starter Jonathan Stewart (foot). Whittaker will likely handle most of the early-down work with Tolbert getting the goal-line touches. Both players are worth a speculative add in fantasy.
