Bills DC Leslie Frazier will interview for the Colts' head-coaching vacancy on Saturday.
We already knew the Colts were interested. Now we know when the sides are talking. Frazier would be an uninspiring hire, but the Colts might not be thinking too big after Josh McDaniels' stunning 11th-hour reversal. The Colts have been projecting an air of dysfunction to the rest of the league for multiple years, and may be forced to settle for a retread like Frazier. Feb 8 - 5:08 PM

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Colts have requested an interview with Bills DC Leslie Frazier.

Scrambling after being left at the altar by Josh McDaniels, the Colts might be looking for a safe, stabilizing hire. Frazier would seem to fit the bill, but he mostly struggled in three full seasons leading the Vikings. Frazier just finished his first season as the defensive coordinator in Buffalo.

Bills hired Ravens DBs coach Leslie Frazier as defensive coordinator.

Frazier will be new head coach Sean McDermott's top defensive lieutenant. McDermott is expected to install a 4-3 defense, something Frazier has plenty of experience with, most recently coordinating Lovie Smith's 4-3 in Tampa Bay. McDermott will probably be something of his own boss on defense, but Frazier has the experience and résumé to call plays.
Thu, Jan 12, 2017 08:18:00 PM's Ian Rapoport reports Ravens DBs coach Leslie Frazier is a candidate for the Bills' defensive coordinator vacancy.

The ex-Vikings coach coordinated the Bucs' defense under Lovie Smith. Frazier has years of experience to go along with a solid reputation and résumé.

Ravens hired Leslie Frazier as secondary coach.

Frazier coordinated the Bucs defense the last two seasons, but was let go when Lovie Smith was fired. He'll work closely with DC Dean Pees and could add some Tampa-2 concepts. Frazier was a candidate for Cleveland's DC job, but will settle for a lesser role in Baltimore.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports ex-Bucs DC Leslie Frazier is a candidate for the same position in Cleveland.

A former head coach of the Vikings, Frazier also has years of NFL coordinator experience. He overlapped with new Browns coach Hue Jackson in 2004 in Cincinnati.

Buccaneers fired DC Leslie Frazier.

Tampa Bay declined to pick up Frazier's option and also let go of a number of defensive assistants. The Bucs were 10th in total defense, 16th against the pass, and 11th against the run. They were also 16th in takeaways and 14th in sacks. Those aren't bad numbers by any means, but coach Lovie Smith ran the defensive side of the ball, so all his assistants had to go, too. Frazier should land back on his feet. He's been a defensive coordinator for eight seasons.

Bucs hired Leslie Frazier as defensive coordinator.

The Cowboys wouldn't let DL coach Rod Marinelli out of his contract. Tight with new Bucs coach Lovie Smith, Frazier teaches a similar Tampa 2-style defense, although both coaches have utilized more man coverage in recent seasons, with Peanut Tillman doing so frequently in Chicago and Xavier Rhodes playing press this past year for Frazier in Minnesota. Before a largely-failed stint as the Vikings' 2011-2013 head coach (20-32-1 record), Frazier coordinated Minnesota's defense from 2008-2010, and his units ranked sixth, sixth, and eighth in the NFL in total defense. Put simply, he's a fantastic fit under Lovie and has an excellent track record as a coordinator. Frazier and Smith will need improved pass rush in Tampa, but they aren't going to let Darrelle Revis go to waste.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Leslie Frazier is expected to be Lovie Smith's defensive coordinator wherever Smith lands a job as a head coach.

Frazier and Smith both adhere to Cover-2 and Tampa-2 defensive principles. Frazier worked under Tony Dungy in Indianapolis in the mid-2000s, and Smith worked under Dungy in Tampa Bay in the late-1990s. There's a connection. It's believed that Smith's first choice for defensive coordinator will be Cowboys DL coach Rod Marinelli, but Dallas may not let Marinelli out of his deal.

Vikings fired coach Leslie Frazier.

Frazier led the Vikings to a surprising Wild Card berth a year ago and posted a respectable 4-3-1 mark in the second half of this season despite having Adrian Peterson injured and Matt Cassel as his starting quarterback. It wasn't enough. Frazier finishes his three full years at the helm with a 19-29-1 record and one playoff appearance. "Unfortunately, we did not achieve consistent success and did not achieve the progress we expected," GM Rick Spielman said in a statement. "We believe a coaching change is needed to help build a successful team moving forward." CBS' Jason La Canfora reported a few weeks ago that the Vikings had reached out to Penn State's Bill O'Brien. Broncos OC Adam Gase, Bengals OC Jay Gruden and Broncos DC Jack Del Rio are already getting linked to the Minnesota vacancy. Gruden and Spielman have the same agent.

According to FOX's Jay Glazer, Vikings coach Leslie Frazier will be fired after a Monday meeting with ownership.

Frazier's job has long been in the balance, and the Vikings would be the worst organization in sports if they let Sunday's meaningless finale have any bearing on their coach's status. We should have official word on Frazier's status in less than 24 hours.

According to NFL Network, the prospects of coach Leslie Frazier returning for 2014 are "grim."

The Vikings exercised Frazier's 2014 option back in February and are clearly feeling buyer's remorse. Heading into Sunday's game against the Eagles, Minny was 3-9-1 and Fraizer had a 19-31-1 record (plus an 0-1 playoff mark) since taking over late in the 2010 season.

Vikings GM Rick Spielman says coach Leslie Frazier's job is safe through 2014.

"Leslie Frazier is not going anywhere," Spielman said. "I am telling you that we are very committed to Leslie Frazier and this coaching staff. And we’re committed to our players, and everybody is working extremely hard to get this thing turned around." Minnesota exercised Frazier's 2014 option back in February. They may regret that decision now after the debacle that's been the 2013 season. Spielman's words hold little weight because his job may also be on the line. The Vikings are 17-28 since Frazier took over partway through 2010.

Updating an earlier item, the Vikings have exercised coach Leslie Frazier's 2014 option, not signed him to a "multi-year extension."

It's not technically an extension, but does buy Frazier another year. However, a true extension should be in the works if the Vikings get off to a hot start next season coming off their surprising 2012.

Vikings signed coach Leslie Frazier to a multi-year contract extension.

The details are unknown — and sometimes never known with coaching contracts — but it's a well-deserved extension for a coach who guided to the Vikings to one of the more unlikely playoff appearances in recent memory last season. Frazier was entering the final year of his contract. He's 16-22 overall since taking over for Brad Childress in the middle of the 2010 season.
