Jets hired Todd Bowles as head coach.
Bowles, 51, is coming home, as he's from Elizabeth, New Jersey and played his college ball at Temple. Bowles has been the Cardinals' defensive coordinator the past two seasons after holding the same title in Philadelphia and Miami prior to his gig in Arizona. The Cardinals fielded the league's No. 6 total defense in 2013 before injuries and suspensions ripped up the 2014 club. Bowles is still a maximizer of talent and puts his players in the best position to succeed. His top task is hiring a bright mind to right the Jets' offense. Jan 13 - 10:23 PM

Cardinals DC Todd Bowles' second interview for the Jets' head-coaching vacancy is taking place on Tuesday.

According to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss, Bowles will then conduct a second interview with the Falcons on Wednesday. That's if the Jets let Bowles escape New York without a job. Per Weinfuss' colleague Adam Schefter, "they might not."

The Jets will get the first crack at a second interview with Cardinals DC Todd Bowles.

The Falcons are also expecting to get a second interview with Bowles. But it remains to be seen if new Jets GM Mike Maccagnan will let Bowles get out of town without a deal. The Jets are unlikely to land red-hot Seahawks DC Dan Quinn, and Bowles likely has an edge on Panthers DC Sean McDermott.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution sees Cardinals DC Todd Bowles as the "leading candidate" to replace Mike Smith as Falcons head coach.

The Falcons were in the Rex Ryan hunt, but lost out to the Bills. Bowles will interview for a second time with Atlanta on Wednesday. Per the Journal-Constitution, Patriots OC Josh McDaniels is expected to stay with New England after his team advanced to the AFC Championship Game, nixing any opportunities for McDaniels to interview this week. Seahawks DC Dan Quinn is expected to go to the Jets. Bowles is said to be tight with new Falcons lead personnel man Scott Pioli, who is Bill Parcells' son in law. Bowles worked for Parcells in Dallas and Miami.

Cardinals DC Todd Bowles is getting a second interview with both the Jets and Falcons.

Bowles remains one of the biggest dominoes to fall as the coaching vacancy process drags on. He's garnered interest from the Bears and 49ers as well.
Jan 12 - 11:51 AM

The Falcons will interview Cardinals DC Todd Bowles on Saturday for their open head coach position.

A hot commodity this offseason, Bowles has already interviewed with the Bears, 49ers and Jets. It would be a shock if Bowles does not land a head coaching job. Bowles has been the Cardinals' defensive coordinator since 2013.

Cardinals DC Todd Bowles will interview for the Bears' head-coaching vacancy on Thursday, followed by San Francisco on Friday and Atlanta on Saturday.

The Bears named ex-Saints executive Ryan Pace as their new general manager on Thursday, so it's possible Bowles won't be escaping Chicago without a deal if Pace likes what he hears. Bowles' Bears talk was originally scheduled for Saturday, so it's possible the sides are already anticipating a marriage.

The Bears will interview Cardinals DC Todd Bowles for their head-coaching vacancy on Thursday.

The interview has been fast-forwarded two days, perhaps partially because Chicago has settled on a GM after interviewing Ryan Pace (Saints) and Chris Ballard (Chiefs) on Wednesday. Ballard is believed to be the front-runner for the Bears' GM job. Bowles may have emerged as the favorite to be Ballard's coach.
Jan 7 - 10:10 PM

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles will interview with the Jets on Wednesday.

Bowles will be the fifth candidate to interview to replace Rex Ryan. Bowles runs a 3-4 defense, but experimented with 4-3 late in the season. Ryan also used hybrid fronts, so there are pieces in place for a smooth transition.

The Arizona Republic reports "every team with a head-coaching opening" has requested permission to interview Cardinals DC Todd Bowles.

To summarize, that's the Jets, Bears, Raiders, 49ers and Falcons. Bowles has only been in Arizona two seasons, but overseen two vastly overachieving units. There's a good chance he's tabbed to take the next step.

CBS' Jason La Canfora reports the Falcons have requested permission to interview Cardinals DC Todd Bowles for their head-coaching vacancy.

That's in addition to Broncos OC Adam Gase, and Seahawks DC Dan Quinn. Bowles is in high demand after coaxing dominating play out of a Cardinals defense that was undermanned all season. He's reportedly also on the 49ers' radar.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports the 49ers have requested permission to interview Cardinals DC Todd Bowles and Seahawks DC Dan Quinn for their head-coaching vacancy.

The 49ers are starting out within the division as they look to replace Jim Harbaugh. Quinn has overseen arguably the best unit in the league since predecessor Gus Bradley left for Jacksonville, while Bowles' unit wildly overachieved this season. It appears the 49ers are looking to make a defensive hire after bringing aboard an offensive mind in Harbaugh four years ago.

Cardinals signed DC Todd Bowles to a contract extension through 2017.

Despite losing Daryl Washington to suspension, Darnell Dockett to an ACL tear and Karlos Dansby to free agency, Bowles has the Cardinals' defense humming. They rank fourth in points allowed and third in run defense, a big reason why the Cards are 8-1. Bowles' extension comes with a raise and the freedom to still pursue head-coaching opportunities. He'll surely have some interviews this offseason.

FOX Sports reports Cardinals DC Todd Bowles has withdrawn his name from consideration for the Browns' head-coaching vacancy.

Although NFL Network's Albert Breer reported Sunday that the Browns' job is viewed as "radioactive" around the league, Bowles' withdrawal is probably due to the fact that he didn't view himself as a realistic candidate to replace Rob Chudzinski. There have been rumors that Broncos OC Adam Gase's hiring is a fait accompli in Cleveland. Perhaps it's by design, but the Browns' vacancy has generated absolutely no buzz since Chudzinski was summarily dismissed after only one year on the job.

In addition to Mike Zimmer, XTRA Phoenix's Mike Jurecki is hearing Cardinals DC Todd Bowles will receive a second head-coaching interview from the Vikings.

The Vikings are expected to bring in 3-4 candidates for their second round of interviews, with Zimmer installed as the early favorite. Bowles clearly also piqued Vikings GM Rick Spielman's interest during his initial interview. The third candidate for a second interview has not yet been revealed.
