Rams WR Stedman Bailey (head) has accepted a student assistant coaching position at West Virginia.
Bailey played at WVU from 2010-12. Still on the mend after being shot twice in the head late last November, Bailey noted this decision does not mean his playing days are over, but he is taking this time to both recover and work on completing his degree. Bailey was placed on the reserve/NFI list in June. Jul 18 - 8:24 AM

Rams WR Stedman Bailey (head) believes he has a "chance" to play football again.

Bailey was shot twice in the head in late November. "It's been pretty tough, but I'm still here," Bailey said. "I definitely feel like I have a chance to step back on the field and be able to continue playing football." Bailey will not get the chance to play this season after being placed on the reserve/NFI list, but his optimism is heartening. We wish him the best.

Rams waived WR Stedman Bailey with a non-football injury designation.

It's the equivalent of being waived/injured. If Bailey doesn't reach an injury settlement with the Rams, he will spend the season on reserve/NFI. Bailey has not fully healed after being shot twice in the head late last November.

Stedman Bailey (head) recently posted a video of himself running routes.

It's really remarkable. Bailey was shot twice in the head back in late November and spent a month in the ICU. All along, he's said he plans to make a comeback and play football again, but the Rams have been on the side where they simply want Bailey to return to health. Bailey seems to be well on his way to getting back to his normal life. We'll see what happens in training camp.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher says Stedman Bailey (head) is still in the "evaluation process."

"Sted is currently in the evaluation process, seeking numerous opinions from neurologists and the like," Fisher said of Bailey, who was shot twice in the head in November. "Just to see if he can not only play, but continue with a rigorous physical rehab program that will put him in position to play." Fisher did say Bailey has seemed like the "same old Sted" when at the team facilities. A final decision on his status may not come until the summer.

Stedman Bailey (head) still wants to return to playing in the NFL.

Bailey was shot multiple times in the head back in November while he was in Florida serving a four-game suspension. Doctors have told him he's unlikely to play again, but Bailey has other thoughts. "When somebody tells me that they don't think I can do something, you know I'll do everything that I can to prove them wrong," Bailey said. "And I will be making a return to the NFL." We like Bailey's ambition, but odds are high he doesn't play another down.

Rams placed WR Stedman Bailey (head) on the reserve/NFI list.

Bailey is still recovering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head after being the victim of a drive-by shooting in Florida two weeks ago. He's done for the season, obviously, and his football future remains up in the air.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Stedman Bailey remains in intensive care but is "improving."

Bailey was the victim of an apparent drive-by shooting last week. He suffered two head wounds, one of which required more than six hours of surgery to remove a bullet. Bailey was in a medically induced coma to keep swelling down, but Fisher reported Bailey's girlfriend sent a video of Bailey awake and able to sign his name to teammates before Sunday's game.

Rams WR Stedman Bailey is in stable condition after being shot in the head and hip in South Florida on Tuesday night.

The shooting happened in an apparent drive-by as Bailey and a group of friends were sitting in a car outside a Miami home. Bailey underwent a "lengthy surgery" following the shooting. "What I can tell you is he’s in stable condition, and he’ll be in ICU for a number of days," said coach Jeff Fisher. "It’s highly unlikely that he returns to play this year." Bailey's football-playing future is up in the air.

Rams WR Stedman Bailey was shot in the head and hip in South Florida on Tuesday evening and is in the hospital.

Bailey was reportedly the passenger in a car with his cousin, the driver, and two younger relatives. Bailey was shot two times in the head, and is in critical, but stable, condition. The driver is in critical condition. Early reports are the injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening and Bailey will undergo surgery in the morning. Bailey is away from the team on a four-game suspension, which is why he's in Florida at the moment. Our thoughts are with Bailey and his family.

NFL suspended Rams WR Stedman Bailey four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Bailey was also suspended for substance abuse in 2014, but that ban was shortened when the league overhauled its drug policy. It's now clear Bailey has indeed been using banned substances, and most likely for quite some time. This four-game suspension will sideline Bailey until Week 14. Through eight games this year, Bailey has managed 12 catches for 182 yards and a touchdown.

Stedman Bailey caught 3-of-5 targets for 73 yards in the Rams' Week 5 loss to the Packers.

The five targets were Bailey's most of the season, while the 73 yards were the fourth most of his career. Bailey was a shoestring away from a 75-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Bailey has been more involved on offense in recent weeks, but it's hard to see him coming into consistent WR4 value.

Stedman Bailey caught 2-of-3 targets for 30 yards and one touchdown in the Rams' Week 4 win over the Cardinals.

Bailey had mostly been a non-factor this season before Sunday. He entered the game with four catches for 58 scoreless yards. Now operating as the No. 3 receiver with Chris Givens traded to the Ravens, Bailey scored an 18-yard touchdown against Arizona on a perfect throw into the corner of the end zone by Nick Foles. There's not enough to go around in St. Louis to make Bailey consistent.

Stedman Bailey caught 1-of-2 targets for 17 yards in the Rams' Week 17 loss to the Seahawks.

Bailey ends his sophomore season with a 30-435-1 line. Bailey was a preseason and training camp star for the Rams but earned a four-game suspension to open the season, putting him behind the eight ball when he was eligible to return in Week 6. It took Bailey a few weeks to get his feet wet again, but once Brian Quick went down with a season-ending shoulder injury midway through the year, it was Bailey and Kenny Britt on the outside for the Rams. Bailey isn’t very big, but has a good pair of hands. He’ll be a nice complementary piece for the Rams, but is best suited for a slot role as a No. 3 receiver.

Stedman Bailey caught two passes for 22 yards in Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Giants.

Bailey saw just five targets compared to 11 for Kenny Britt and seven for Jared Cook. So his roller coaster ride over the last six weeks continues, which is what happens when you're a complementary receiver in a poor passing game headed by Shaun Hill. Bailey and the Rams wrap the season at Seattle in Week 17.
