Lions DE Ziggy Ansah (knee) is active for Week 2 against the Giants.
He was the only Lions player listed questionable. Maybe the Giants' inept offensive line will help jumpstart Ansah. Inactive for Detroit is CB Teez Tabor, WR Jared Abbrederis, LB Nick Bellore, RB Zach Zenner, RB Tion Green, OG Zac Kerin, and OT Emmett Cleary. Dwayne Washington is the No. 3 RB. Sep 18 - 7:02 PM

Lions DE Ziggy Ansah (knee) is listed as questionable for Monday night's Week 2 game against the Giants.

Ansah was limited in practice, but will continue to play through his knee injury. He has a plus matchup against a Giants offensive line that allowed three sacks last week. Ansah should see an increase from the 34 snaps he played in the season opener.
Sep 16 - 2:06 PM

Lions DE Ziggy Ansah (knee, ankle) is active for Week 1 against the Cardinals.

Ansah missed training camp with an ankle injury, but he is listed with a knee issue on the injury report. Either way, he is ready to go against Arizona. With no other real pass-rushing threat, the Lions need Ansah to have a bounce-back season.
Sep 10 - 11:34 AM

Lions RE Ziggy Ansah (ankle) is questionable for Week 1 against the Cardinals.

Kenny Golladay (hamstring) and Corey Robinson (foot) also drew the questionable tag. Ansah is likely to play on Sunday but could be on a snap count after missing all of camp with a high-ankle sprain.
Sep 8 - 4:11 PM

Lions activated RE Ziggy Ansah (ankle) from active/PUP.

It's unclear if he'll be ready for Week 1 after missing all of camp and preseason due to a high-ankle sprain, but if he's not 100 percent, Ansah is real close. Entering a contract year, Ansah needs to have a big bounce-back season after just two sacks in 2016. The Lions are banking on Ansah keying their pass rush.
Sep 1 - 3:03 PM

The Lions still expect DE Ziggy Ansah (ankle, PUP) to be ready for Week 1.

The Lions have insisted all August that Ansah will be ready. There are 12 days between now and the Lions' opener. Ansah was slowed by a high-ankle sprain in 2016, playing just 13 games. 2017 is his age-28 season.
Aug 29 - 2:30 PM

Lions DC Teryl Austin said he is not worried about DE Ziggy Ansah (ankle, active/PUP).

Ansah was placed on the active/PUP at the beginning of camp in what was thought to be a precautionary move, but the defensive end remains there heading into the third preseason game. The Lions have not seemed concerned, but their pass rush is in dire straits after losing Kerry Hyder to an Achilles' tear. They absolutely need Ansah to stay healthy and rediscover his 2015 form.
Aug 22 - 12:47 PM

Lions placed RE Ziggy Ansah (ankle) on the active/PUP list.

His absence is considered precautionary. Ansah missed time with a high-ankle sprain last year and was limited during OTAs. Coming off a career-worst two sacks in 2016, Ansah is owed $12.734 million in the final year of his rookie deal.
Jul 30 - 9:52 AM

The Lions have yet to open extension talks with contract-year RE Ziggy Ansah.

The Lions want to lock up Ansah, but there’s been no progress to this point. Things should heat up closer to training camp. Ansah would cost $16.9 million if franchised in 2018.
Apr 7 - 8:02 PM

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports the Lions have expressed interest in an extension with walk-year RE Ziggy Ansah.

Ansah is coming off a down year in which he only recorded two sacks in 13 games, but he was hampered by a high-ankle sprain. He is still one of the top edge rushers in the league, and the Lions would be wise to lock him up. Ansah is scheduled to make $12.734 million in the final year of his rookie deal.
Mar 27 - 7:33 PM

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports Lions RE Ziggy Ansah escaped with a "stinger" in Sunday's win over the Bears and should play in Week 15.

Ansah left with a shoulder injury and didn't return, but it sounds like he just couldn't go the rest of the way but bounced back quickly on Monday. Plagued by various injuries all year, Ansah has failed to record a sack in ten games.

Lions RE Ziggy Ansah exited Sunday's Week 14 game against the Bears with a shoulder injury.

He got hurt midway through the second quarter and went to the locker room. The Lions are calling Ansah's return questionable.
Sun, Dec 11, 2016 02:13:00 PM

Lions DE Ziggy Ansah said he thinks the ankle injury he suffered Week 2 will hamper him "all year."

Coming off 14.5 sacks last season, Ansah has zero takedowns in eight games this year. His ankle certainly has something to do with the decreased production. The sacks have not been there, but Ansah does have 10 hurries in the last five games according to PFF and almost had a strip sack on Thanksgiving. Those hurries should turn into takedowns eventually.

Lions RE Ziggy Ansah (ankle) is active for Week 6.

WLB DeAndre Levy (knee, quad) is still sidelined, but Ansah's return is a big boost for a defense which needs one. With Kerry Hyder playing surprisingly well, the Lions should be able to get pressure on Case Keenum.
Sun, Oct 16, 2016 11:39:00 AM

Lions RE Ziggy Ansah (ankle) is questionable for Week 6.

Ansah looks on track to play after getting in limited work all week, but the Lions could take it slow with their star rusher. Ansah has not played since Week 2, and the defense has really struggled with him out.
