Vikings selected Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes with the No. 25 overall pick.
Rhodes (6-foot-1 1/2, 210) is a physical, long-armed (33 3/4") press corner who ran 4.43 at the Combine with a tremendous 40.5-inch vertical and 11-foot broad jump. A 38-game starter for the 'Noles, Rhodes tallied eight career INTs and seven tackles for loss. Rhodes displays loose hips, quick feet, ample recovery speed, and standout ball skills on tape. Consistency and technique were sometimes issues, but Rhodes' overall game is reminiscent of Aqib Talib. The former receiver is very aggressive and could start opposite Josh Robinson or Chris Cook in 2013. Apr 25 - 10:53 PM

Coach Mike Munchak says the Titans are in pursuit of a true press corner who can get physical with wide receivers at the line of scrimmage.

The Titans face Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, and Justin Blackmon twice per year in the AFC South. "We’ll definitely look at a corner ... that has those kinds of abilities," said Munchak. "That can get up in your face and play a little more man to man." While the logical connection might be Florida State's Xavier Rhodes, press corners are often found in the draft's mid to late rounds.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune considers Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes "a very realistic option" for the Saints at No. 15.

The Saints actively pursued cornerbacks even after signing Keenan Lewis -- namely, Nnamdi Asomugha and Tracy Porter -- and are emphasizing physical press-man corners under new coordinator Rob Ryan. They've soured on former first-round pick Patrick Robinson, while Ryan may not view Jabari Greer as a scheme fit. We still think it'd be tough for New Orleans to pass on Jarvis Jones.

The Dolphins reportedly believe Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes would be a poor fit for their defensive scheme.

Rhodes was a popular early mock draft pick for the Fins at No. 12, but he is a press-man corner and Miami runs zone. If the Dolphins sit tight at 12 -- which seems like a long shot anyway -- they'd be more likely to consider West Virginia's Tavon Austin, Notre Dame's Tyler Eifert, or even pass-rush help than Rhodes.

The Tampa Bay Times' Stephen Holder considers the Bucs a "near certainty" to draft a cornerback at No. 13 overall.

Holder believes Tampa will draft a corner in the first round even if it acquired Darrelle Revis. The Bucs do need two starting cornerbacks, so the thoroughly needs-based approach is at least logical. Florida State's Xavier Rhodes is expected to be on the Bucs' radar, assuming he gets by Miami at No. 12.

The Miami Herald has been told that the Dolphins "really like" Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes.

Reporter Armando Salguero expects the Fins to "seriously consider" drafting cornerbacks, presumably with the 12th overall pick. Defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle runs a zone scheme, and Rhodes is more of a bump-and-run corner. He's 6-foot-1 1/2 and 210 pounds, though, and could replace Sean Smith.

Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes ran forty times of 4.41 and 4.41 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Rhodes is a bit of a size-speed athletic freak at 6-foot-2, 210 with low 4.4 wheels. Although there has been some discussion of Rhodes moving to safety, he's more likely to be drafted as a cornerback in a press-man coverage scheme. Rhodes has shown playmaking ability on the ball and possesses physical traits to develop into a legit No. 1 NFL corner. He's a surefire top-20 overall pick.

Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes measured 6-foot-1 1/2 and 210 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine weigh-in.

If Rhodes wanted to stay at cornerback -- the money position -- as opposed to move to safety, this is a good weight to do it. Rhodes is just a tick shorter but a solid seven pounds lighter than his college listing, and he could stick at corner with a forty time in the 4.5s at 6-foot-2, 210. The forty time is going to be very telling both for Rhodes' NFL position and draft slot.

NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock says Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes is generating second-round grades from teams ahead of the Combine.

Mayock hinted that NFL teams aren't sure yet whether Rhodes will better fit at cornerback or safety. Some teams, like the Patriots, actually value safety-corner hybrids as opposed to downgrading them. "A guy like Xavier Rhodes, who's a corner and a safety," said Mayock, "... he right now has mostly second-round grades as a corner or a safety, depending on what he runs."
