Zac Stacy pounded his way to 60 yards on 13 carries in Saturday’s preseason game against the Giants.
Stacy caught a 24-yard touchdown pass on a play the Giants forgot to defend. The bruising 224-pounder also punched in a two-point conversion. Though he hasn’t improved his position on the team’s depth chart, Stacy has probably done enough to secure a roster spot. He isn’t worth a late-round flyer. Aug 29 - 10:15 PM

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

Zac Stacy is working as the No. 3 running back at Jets camp.

He's behind Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell, with Stevan Ridley (ACL/MCL) still on the active/PUP list. Although the Newark Star-Ledger has predicted Stacy won't make the Jets' final 53, Ridley's injury could end up saving his roster spot. Stacy appears to be applying no pressure to Ivory or Powell.

The Newark Star-Ledger doesn’t expect the Jets to keep Zac Stacy.

With Stevan Ridley sidelined, Stacy is running behind Chris Ivory at training camp. Reporter Darryl Slater expects the Jets to carry only three running backs. Stacy needs Ridley to open the season on reserve/PUP to avoid getting cut.

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini believes the Jets could keep four running backs.

Bilal Powell is locked in as the third-down back, but the Jets still have to decide which of their limited power backs they want to carry on the roster. Chris Ivory and Stevan Ridley are the most talented options, but Ridley is coming off a serious knee injury and the new coaching staff seems to be down on Ivory. Zac Stacy was acquired for a seventh-round pick on draft day, but he is the least talented back of the bunch. It does not make much sense for the Jets to carry three runners with almost identical skill sets, but it remains a possibility.

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

Jets acquired RB Zac Stacy from the Rams in exchange for the No. 224 overall pick in the NFL draft.

The Jets contacted the Rams about Stacy earlier in the day. Unhappy with his place on the Rams' depth chart after the team selected Todd Gurley, Stacy now finds himself in the exact same position in New York. Like Stacy, Chris Ivory and Stevan Ridley are limited power backs, but they are much better players. Ridley is coming off a serious knee injury, however, and the Jets' new coaching staff does not appear to favor Ivory. Stacy will compete for a role in camp.

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reports the Jets inquired about Rams RB Zac Stacy.

The Jets did not make a formal offer, and Stacy would be somewhat redundant in New York with limited power runners Chris Ivory and Stevan Ridley already on the roster. Stacy wants to be traded after the Rams selected Todd Gurley in the first round. St. Louis would love to oblige. Despite a 3.9 career YPC, the Rams could possibly turn Stacy into a seventh-round pick.

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

Appearing on NFL Draft Kickoff, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the Rams would be "more than happy" to honor Zac Stacy's trade request.

Sitting in the No. 4 spot on the Rams' running back depth chart, Stacy wants out of St. Louis. The Rams would likely be ecstatic to land a seventh-round pick for the 5-foot-8 bowling ball that has reminded of a rich man's Shonn Greene through two NFL seasons. Running back-needy teams will certainly wait to see if they can get their hands on a superior runner in this loaded draft class before forking over a late pick for a guy who has averaged 3.9 YPC in his career.

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms Rams RB Zac Stacy has requested a trade, and that the team is "open to moving him."

We wouldn't doubt it, but St. Louis isn't going to find a market for its No. 4 running back. Getting a seventh-round pick would be a best-case scenario. Stacy is just two years removed from a 973-yard season, but has averaged 3.9 yards per carry for his career.

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports Zac Stacy plans to ask the Rams to trade or release him following their selection of Todd Gurley.

With Gurley on board, Stacy now finds himself a distant fourth on the Rams' running back depth chart behind Gurley, Tre Mason and Benny Cunningham. Stacy followed up a promising rookie campaign with a miserable 2014, losing his job to Mason and rarely playing after Week 6. He's still only 24 but the Rams probably won't get much for the plodding 224-pounder.

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

Zac Stacy rushed two times for three yards and caught three passes for 17 yards in the Rams' Week 17 loss to the Seahawks.

Stacy caps off an extremely disappointing sophomore season with 293 yards and one touchdown on 76 carries (3.85 YPC) to go along with an 18-152 receiving line. Coming off a solid rookie season, Stacy entered 2014 as the starter but wheezed his way to just 228 yards and one touchdown on 53 carries the first five weeks of the season, failing to break tackles and losing two fumbles along the way. After Week 6, Stacy played just 31 snaps excluding Week 17. It’s Tre Mason’s backfield now in St. Louis, though the Rams say they still like Stacy. Signed cheaply through 2016, Stacy should be back with the Rams next summer, but he’ll have to compete for a roster spot.

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

Zac Stacy rushed seven times for 25 yards in the Rams' Week 13 win over the Raiders.

St. Louis won this game 52-0 and was able to get Stacy involved. Entering the game, he hadn't had a carry since late October. Stacy is a shaky handcuff for Tre Mason's fantasy owners because he would likely split work with Benny Cunningham and/or Trey Watts if something unfortunate happened to Mason.

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

Zac Stacy hasn't played a snap since Week 8.

In other words, Stacy isn't even worth an end-of-roster spot in 14-team leagues. He's been completely phased out of the Rams' offense. Stacy has a dicey future in Dynasty leagues, but should probably be held through at least the spring.

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

Zac Stacy did not take a snap in the Rams' Week 9 win over the 49ers.

Tre Mason dominated the early-down work, and Benny Cunningham sprinkled in on passing downs. Stacy does not have a role in the Rams' offense right now, and is droppable in all formats.

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

Zac Stacy rushed for 17 yards on five carries in the Rams' Week 8 loss to the Chiefs, adding three catches for 20 yards.

Back from sideline banishment in Week 7 when he played just one offensive snap, Stacy was the third back through the rotation on Sunday, tying Tre Mason for the team lead with eight touches. Benny Cunningham, who got the start, received five touches. Stacy also dropped a pass. None of the three backs will be recommended fantasy plays next week in San Francisco. It's a full-blown committee.

Zac Stacy - RB - Jets

Zac Stacy didn't register a single touch in the Rams' Week 7 win over the Seahawks.

Benny Cunningham got the start for the Rams, with Stacy playing just one snap all afternoon. But it was Tre Mason who took control of the backfield by out-touching Cunningham 18-7. Stacy isn't injured, as he was seen on the sideline just waiting to see if he'd play. He simply hasn't been effective all season, and the Rams are making a switch. Stacy can now safely be dropped in 12- and 14-team leagues as the Rams' No. 3 running back. He's a slow mover who doesn't do anything in the pass game. He's Matt Asiata and Shonn Greene's child.
