NFL suspended free agent WR Da'Rick Rogers two games.
The reason for the suspension was not announced, but it likely stems from a DUI arrest last September. Rogers spent five months with the Chiefs this offseason, but he has not generated any interest since being released in June. Just 24 with impressive physical skills, Rogers could find his way onto another roster this season. Thu, Aug 13, 2015 04:40:00 PM

Chiefs released WR Da'Rick Rogers.

A highly touted UDFA back in 2013, Rogers has now been cut by three teams in the last 22 months. The Chiefs are the most alarming to give up, as they have very little depth behind Jeremy Maclin. Rogers is still just 24 years old, but an inability to make a mark on the practice field against backups is scary. It was previously thought that only off-field issues would hold him back.

Chiefs WR Da'Rick Rogers has been sentenced to six months' probation in his September DUI case.

He'll also serve one day in jail. Rogers' arrest cost him his Colts roster spot, and he went unsigned until the Chiefs scooped him up in January. Rogers has all the physical skills necessary to stick in the NFL, but has had trouble keeping things straight off the field. If he can, there's a good chance he cracks Kansas City's 53-man roster.

Chiefs signed WR Da'Rick Rogers, formerly of the Colts.

Rogers dominated the SEC as a 20-year-old, and runs 4.52 with a 39 1/2-inch vertical and 11-foot broad jump at 6-foot-2, 217. He checks every box physically, but has been a persistent off-field headache and was cut by the Colts in September following a DUI arrest. If Rogers keeps his head on straight, he'll position himself to make the Chiefs' roster in 2015 training camp.

Free agent WR Da'Rick Rogers worked out for the Bengals on Tuesday.

He didn't get the job, as the Bengals signed Greg Little instead. Rogers has NFL talent, but can't keep his affairs in order off the field. He's liable to remain on the open market for a long time, perhaps until teams hand out reserve/future pacts in January.

Colts waived WR Da'Rick Rogers.

S Dewey McDonald was promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding roster move. Rogers was popped for DUI on Monday morning, and the Colts have wasted no time in moving on from the talented but troubled second-year pro. Rogers has been an off-the-field mess going back to his days in college. He has NFL-level talent, but is about out of chances. Rogers is only 23.

Colts WR Da'Rick Rogers was arrested for DUI on Monday morning.

Rogers was pulled over at 3:35 AM. It's bad news for a 2013 undrafted free agent who went undrafted due to character concerns. Rogers, who's been a healthy scratch for all four games this season, has imperiled his roster spot. His Dynasty-league arrow is pointing down.

Colts declared WR Da'Rick Rogers, LB Andy Studebaker, LB Jerrell Freeman, S Colt Anderson, C Khaled Holmes, RG Hugh Thornton, and DL Arthur Jones inactive for Week 4 against the Titans.

Rogers continues to bring up the rear of the receiver depth chart. Freeman remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Jones is out with a bad ankle. Holmes was Wally Pipped by A.Q. Shipley for the starting job. Thornton has an ankle issue. Lance Louis will start at right guard in Thornton's place.

Colts declared WR Da'Rick Rogers, RB Zurlon Tipton, C Khaled Holmes, FS Sergio Brown, ILB Henoc Muamba, LT Joe Reitz, and NT Montori Hughes inactive for Sunday night's opener against the Broncos.

Rogers has yet to pass Griff Whalen on the depth chart and is the Colts' No. 6 receiver. A.Q. Shipley is expected to start at center for Holmes.

Colts WR Da'Rick Rogers remains behind Griff Whalen.

It's a bit disconcerting that Rogers' natural talent still hasn't been able to shine through. He's currently the sixth receiver on a team tentatively expected to keep six receivers on their 53. Donte Moncrief is a far better Dynasty stash with Reggie Wayne and Hakeem Nicks on one-year contracts.

Da'Rick Rogers is expected to make the Colts' 53-man roster.

The camp reports on Rogers haven't been good, but his spot should be secure as long as the Colts keep six wideouts. Rogers is currently behind Griff Whalen for the No. 5 receiver job. With no real special teams value, Rogers could struggle to be active on game days early in the season.

Da'Rick Rogers is off to a slow start at training camp.

Per beat reporter Mike Wells, Griff Whalen has "definitely" outplayed Rogers so far. It's another disappointing turn of events for a talented prospect fighting for the No. 4 receiver job. Still, he's just 23 years old and Reggie Wayne/Hakeem Nicks are on one-year deals. We're holding Rogers in Dynasty formats where we can.

ESPN Colts reporter Mike Wells says the team remains high on Da'Rick Rogers.

After Hakeem Nicks' signing, Rogers lost a bit of his luster. But keep in mind Nicks only signed a one-year deal, and Reggie Wayne is nearing the end of the line. While Rogers may not make the second-year leap fantasy owners were hoping for, he's only 23 (in June) and his arrow continues to point up. Rogers is the favorite for No. 4 receiver duties, followed by LaVon Brazill and Griff Whalen.

Colts second-year WR Da'Rick Rogers lost much of his 2014 breakout appeal when the team signed Hakeem Nicks.

Rogers remains a high-ceiling Dynasty hold, but his path to 2014 playing time is now blocked by T.Y. Hilton, Nicks, and Reggie Wayne, with LaVon Brazill and Griff Whalen also pushing for snaps. Rogers, 23 in June, finished his rookie year with 14 catches for 192 yards (13.7 YPR) and two touchdowns.

Da'Rick Rogers insists the off-field issues that caused him to fall out of the 2013 draft entirely are "in the past."

"That stuff is in the past," he insisted. "It's all about football for me." Rogers' consistency remained an issue into the playoffs, but he's a candidate for a sophomore leap. "I believe I showed the Colts that they can trust me, that I can come to work and be professional every day," added the 22-year-old. Rogers will be a late-round 2014 re-draft flier with some upside.
