Saints signed OLB/DE Alex Okafor, formerly of the Cardinals.
A fourth-round pick of the Cardinals in 2013, Okafor recorded eight sacks as a sophomore. His sack production has decreased the last two seasons, but he remained a disruptive rusher. Okafor is a solid depth signing with some upside. Mar 14 - 10:52 AM

Free agent OLB Alex Okafor is visiting the Saints Monday.

A fourth-round pick in 2013, Okafor has just 5.5 sacks combined the last two seasons, but he took down the quarterback eight times in 13 games in 2014. He would be a low-cost, upside signing for a defense which needs pass rushers.

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have "exploratory" interest in free agent DE/OLB Alex Okafor.

Coming off his rookie deal, Okafor would be making the switch from Arizona's 3-4 defense to a 4-3 in Miami. Okafor played just 231 snaps in 2016, but has 13.5 sacks over the past three years and is only 26 years old.

Cardinals OLB Alex Okafor is planning to play through his torn biceps.

It's still unclear when Okafor will be ready to get back into action, but he is opting for rest and rehab over surgery. The Cardinals will presumably hope Okafor can handle 15-20 snaps per game behind Chandler Jones and Markus Golden.

Cardinals OLB Alex Okafor has a torn biceps.

Coach Bruce Arians said the team is still determining if Okafor needs surgery, which would likely knock him out for the season. After an eight-sack sophomore campaign, Okafor managed two sacks during an injury-shortened 2015. He is Arizona's No. 3 outside linebacker behind Chandler Jones and Markus Golden.

Cardinals OLB Alex Okafor confirmed he is "100 percent" recovered from the toe injury he suffered in January.

Okafor was mysteriously placed on the reserve/NFI list prior to the Cardinals' opening playoff game. He refused to get into the specifics of the injury, but the NFI designation suggests he hurt himself away from the team during the first-round bye. Now healthy, Okafor will fill a rotational role behind starters Chandler Jones and Markus Golden.

Cardinals placed OLB Alex Okafor on the reserve/NFI list with a toe injury, ending his season.

It's a very surprising move, as Okafor just started in Week 17. He's been deactivated with the "non-football injury" designation, a strange move at this time of year. Okafor apparently suffered a season-ending issue away from the team during last week's bye. Okafor played 622 snaps, registering two sacks. His loss mostly hurts for depth purposes, as DE Cory Redding (ankle) is also done for the year.

Cardinals OLB Alex Okafor (strained calf) will be sidelined 2-4 weeks.

Okafor's injury prompted the signing of veteran Dwight Freeney. Okafor has two sacks on 271 snaps this season. At best, he's a league average pass rusher.

OLB Alex Okafor exited the Cardinals' Week 5 game against the Lions with a right calf injury and will not return.

He'll finish the afternoon with three tackles. Look for Kareem Martin to take over at right outside linebacker. Okafor is headed for an MRI on Monday.

Cardinals OLB Alex Okafor was arrested early Monday morning in Austin, Texas for resisting arrest.

Other details are unavailable at the moment. Okafor led the Cardinals with eight sacks as a sophomore last season as a situational pass rusher. His roster spot should be fine barring something crazy coming out about his arrest.

ESPN Cardinals reporter Josh Weinfuss believes second-year OLB Alex Okafor "will be buried on the depth chart" and could be a late-camp cut.

It would be a precipitous fall for a player selected in the fourth round in the 2013 draft. Okafor was never a special athlete, but is long at 6-foot-5 and has strong hands. If Okafor does manage to stick around, he will contribute on special teams and as a situational pass rusher.

Cardinals second-year OLB Alex Okafor (torn biceps) is expected to be "full-go" in 4-6 weeks.

Okafor, the No. 103 overall pick in last April's draft, appeared in one game as a rookie before injuring his arm. He's been rehabbing at the team facility and will continue to do so this spring. Okafor will be a rotational edge rusher and contribute on special teams as a sophomore.

Cardinals placed fourth-round OLB Alex Okafor (torn biceps) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The word comes straight from coach Bruce Arians' mouth. Okafor is the third outside 'backer the Cardinals have lost for the season in the past two days, joining Lorenzo Alexander and Sam Acho. Okafor played five snaps last week but was likely in line for a bigger role this week. The Cardinals will promote ILB Kenny Demens from the practice squad to take Okafor's roster spot.

Cardinals signed No. 103 overall pick DE/OLB Alex Okafor to a four-year contract.

First-rounder Jonathan Cooper is now the Cardinals' lone unsigned draft pick. Okafor was a pass-rushing force at Texas, but has only average explosion (4.89 40-yard dash) and doesn't boast a variety of moves. Okafor should see decent snaps behind starting OLBs Sam Acho and O'Brien Schofield, but will be mostly roster depth as a rookie.

Cardinals drafted Texas DE/OLB Alex Okafor with the No. 103 overall pick.

Okafor (6-foot-5, 264) played defensive tackle before converting to end for his junior and senior campaigns. He rallied for 22 career sacks, 40 tackles for loss, and eight forced fumbles. Okafor lacks flash -- he ran 4.89 at his Pro Day and offers little variety in his pass-rush moves -- but he was a finisher in the Big 12 and can win with strong hands and length. Okafor isn't special in any area, but does everything pretty well. A value pick at the top of round four, Okafor will push for immediate snaps behind underwhelming Cardinals OLBs Sam Acho and O'Brien Schofield.
