Saints NT John Jenkins said he is down to 329 pounds.
Listed at 359 last season, Jenkins estimates he lost almost 40 pounds between OTAs and training camp. He understandably said he feels lighter and quicker. With Brodrick Bunkley gone, New Orleans is relying on Jenkins to hold down the starting nose tackle position. Aug 17 - 9:46 AM

Saints placed NT John Jenkins (pectoral) on the active/PUP list.

Jenkins underwent surgery on his pectorals over the offseason and missed all of spring. We'll consider him day-to-day for the time being. Jenkins is going to push Brodrick Bunkley for nose tackle spot in DC Rob Ryan's defense.

Saints NT John Jenkins underwent offseason pectoral surgery and is sitting out this week's minicamp.

Jenkins was also sidelined for all of OTAs but is expected back for the start of training camp or "sooner." The second-year nose tackle is light on his feet despite being listed at 359 pounds. Jenkins is expected to push Brodrick Bunkley for the starting job as the space-eater in DC Rob Ryan's 3-4.

Saints NT John Jenkins has been sitting out OTAs with an undisclosed injury.

Jenkins didn't battle any major injuries as a rookie. It's possible he underwent some sort of clean-up surgery and could be ready for training camp next month. The coaching staff is said to be high on sophomore Jenkins. He and last year's starting NT Brodrick Bunkley will compete to be the anchor this summer.

ESPN Saints reporter Mike Triplett reports the team is "very high" on second-year NT John Jenkins.

Jenkins, the 82nd overall pick in last year's draft, played 481 defensive snaps as a rookie behind starting NT Brodrick Bunkley. Bunkley is still on the roster and penciled in atop the depth chart, but he recently took a pay cut and could be on the bubble this summer if the Saints like what they see from Jenkins. Jenkins is a mammoth space-eater at 6-foot-4 and 359 pounds.

Saints signed No. 82 pick NT John Jenkins to a four-year contract.

Jenkins is a mammoth presence at 6-foot-4 and anywhere from 346 to 359 pounds -- his weight fluctuated from pre-draft workout to pre-draft workout -- but he has some "Teddy Bear" to him and got pushed around most notably by Kentucky OG Larry Warford in SEC action. The Saints need help at nose tackle in Rob Ryan's new 3-4, so Jenkins could still he headed for a big 2013 role.

Saints traded up to select Georgia NT John Jenkins with the No. 82 overall pick, sending the Nos. 106 and 109 picks to the Dolphins.

Jenkins (6-foot-4, 359) is a nimble mover despite mammoth size and flashed pocket-pushing ability for the Dawgs. He tallied eight tackles for loss and four sacks as a two-year starter in Georgia's 3-4, playing both nose and five technique. Jenkins drew pre-draft comparisons to Red Bryant and Shaun Rogers, though Rotoworld prospects guru Josh Norris has described Jenkins as a "teddy bear" who lacks consistent toughness. With the Saints moving to a three man front, Jenkins could rotate at the nose tackle spot.

Georgia NT John Jenkins is now down to 332 pounds.

Jenkins was listed at 354 in the Bulldogs' program, but he says he was playing at closer to 370. Even with all of that extra body fat, Jenkins still moved well in college. He's viewed as a late first- to early second-round prospect.

Georgia NT John Jenkins measured 6-foot-3 5/8 and 346 pounds at Saturday's NFL Combine weigh-in.

He's shed 13 pounds since the Senior Bowl after weighing 359 in Mobile. An obviously massive figure, Jenkins has drawn criticism from evaluators for taking plays off and being a "teddy bear." He's an early- to mid-round prospect.
