SI's Peter King reports LB Arthur Brown was "going to be" the Texans' pick at No. 57 before the Ravens traded up to get him.
Per King, the Broncos also had interest in Brown at No. 58. Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome had to give up the No. 165 and 199 picks to move up just six spots, but it will be well worth it if Brown steps into a starting role as a rookie. Rotoworld draft guru Josh Norris considered Brown a top-10 overall talent. Apr 29 - 10:12 AM

Baltimore director of college scouting Joe Hortiz compares No. 56 pick Arthur Brown’s skill set to 49ers ILB Navorro Bowman.

"He’s just a really instinctive player that plays hard every snap," Hortiz said. "He finds his way to the ball and shows very good speed." The Ravens entered the draft with a glaring need at inside linebacker following Ray Lewis’ retirement, Dannell Ellerbe’s departure, and Jameel McClain still recovering from a spinal cord contusion. Baltimore did sign ILB Rolando McClain, but his recent off-field issues bode poorly for his future with the team.

Ravens traded up to select Kansas State ILB Arthur Brown with the No. 56 overall pick, sending the Nos. 62, 165, and 199 picks to the Seahawks.

The Ravens stop Brown's slide. He was viewed by many as a first-round prospect. Brown (6-foot, 241) earned 2012 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors, tallying a team-best 100 tackles -- seven for loss -- and two interceptions in the middle of Kansas State's 4-3 defense. Brown ran forty times of 4.67 and 4.68 at his Pro Day and performed 21 reps on the bench. Based strictly on tape study, Rotoworld prospects guru Josh Norris considered Brown a top-10 overall player in this draft for his stack-and-shed ability, consistent physicality, and range in coverage. He should immediately step in as a starting inside linebacker in Baltimore.

NFL Draft insider Tony Pauline has heard from "several people on the inside" that Kansas State LB Arthur Brown is a "definite" first-round pick.

Pauline suggests Brown's first-round presence would knock Notre Dame's Manti Te'o and/or LSU's Kevin Minter into the second frame. Brown is definitely a better player than Te'o, and he is more explosive than Minter. He's a prime candidate to be drafted at all of the spots popularly suggested for Te'o: The Giants at No. 19, Bears at 20, Vikings at Nos. 23 and 25, and Ravens at 32d overall.

Kansas State LB Arthur Brown ran forty times in the 4.58-4.62 range at the Wildcats' Pro Day.

Brown didn't work out at the Combine due to a shoulder injury. He proceeded to "blow up" his Pro Day workout, according to NFL Draft insider Tony Pauline, tipping the scales at 6-foot-1, 236 and repping 225 pounds 21 times on the bench press. He was reportedly "sensational" in drill work. Writes Pauline of Brown, "We are hearing late-first round is now a possibility."

According to NFL Draft insider Tony Pauline, "concerns are being raised" at the Combine about Kansas State LB Arthur Brown's shoulder.

The shoulder injury forced Brown out of last month's Senior Bowl. It appears MRIs in Indy have revealed a concerning injury. Brown has second-round tape, but it remains to be seen whether his medical will allow for that high a grade.
