Coach Mike Smith said he might use Desmond Trufant to shadow Josh Gordon Sunday.
The Falcons aren't buying the Browns' claims that they'll ease Gordon in. Trufant is PFF's No. 4 corner this season, but the 2013 first-rounder is far from bullet-proof. He spent a lot of time following Kelvin Benjamin around the formation last week as KB went 9-109-1. We're firing up Gordon right away as a strong WR2 at worst. Nov 18 - 9:15 AM

Falcons agreed to terms with No. 22 overall pick Desmond Trufant on a four-year, $8.16 million contract.

The younger brother of 2007 Pro Bowler Marcus, the Falcons are counting on Desmond to make an immediate impact. He's projected to slide right in as the starting right corner, filling Dunta Robinson's old shoes opposite Asante Samuel. Trufant only has to beat out fellow rookie Robert Alford and backup-caliber talent Dominique Franks.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Falcons are "optimistic" about reaching a deal with first-round CB Desmond Trufant prior to the start of camp.

Trufant wants similar guaranteed money to last year's No. 22 overall pick Brandon Weeden, but could end up having to settle for an underslotted value because he plays a less premium position. When signed, he'll be part of a three-way competition at right cornerback with Robert Alford and Dominique Franks.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Falcons "aren't close" to a deal with first-round pick Desmond Trufant.

This confirms a report by PFT that Trufant is hoping to use last year's No. 22 overall pick Brandon Weeden's slot value for a higher guaranteed contract. If Trufant holds out into training camp, it could impact his chances of winning a starting job. The Falcons are expected to have three-way competition at right cornerback between Trufant, Robert Alford and Dominique Franks.

The Falcons will have a three-way competition between Desmond Trufant, Robert Alford and Dominique Franks to determine who will start at RCB opposite Asante Samuel.

It's been widely assumed Trufant would be the favorite to start barring a preseason faceplant. However, the Falcons' website believes Alford has just as good a chance of claiming the spot, and cautions not to sleep on veteran Franks. Regardless of who wins the job, Atlanta is likely to scheme plenty of safety help on the right side.

Falcons rookie CBs Desmond Trufant and Robert Alford both got "long looks" with the starters during minicamp.

Perhaps the biggest question mark on the Falcons' roster is right corner. With Brent Grimes gone, they're counting on Trufant to step in as a starter and deal with the likes of Vincent Jackson, Steve Smith and Marques Colston. LCB Asante Samuel does not shadow No. 1 wideouts. Atlanta is going to struggle at RCB and will likely need to get Trufant or Alford consistent safety help.

Falcons traded up to select Washington CB Desmond Trufant with the No. 22 overall pick, sending the No. 30, 92 and 198 overall picks to the Rams.

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff wheels and deals with his former employee Les Snead, giving up more for the No. 22 pick than the Cowboys got for No. 18. Trufant fills one of Atlanta's biggest needs, and should slide in as an immediate starter opposite LCB Asante Samuel. Trufant (5-foot-11 5/8, 190) started 46 games for the Huskies, notching six picks. Longtime Seahawks CB Marcus' younger brother, Desmond ran 4.38 at the Combine with a 1.47 ten-yard split and 37.5-inch vertical. Trufant has exceptional feet, fluidity and the speed to stay in the receiver's hip pocket, but lacks physicality a la Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press expects the Vikings to use of their two first-round picks on a cornerback.

The Vikings cut top corner Antoine Winfield, and in-house CBs Chris Cook, Josh Robinson, and A.J. Jefferson have been far too inconsistent. Minnesota holds the Nos. 23 and 25 selections on Thursday. Names to keep an eye on are Washington's Desmond Trufant, Houston's D.J. Hayden, and Florida State's Xavier Rhodes.

Washington CB Desmond Trufant ran forty times of 4.31 and 4.38 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

The forty times are nothing short of outstanding for a 6-foot, 190-pound corner. Trufant has good-not-great game tape, but he'll move up draft boards because his offseason has been spectacular. By all accounts, Trufant looked every bit a first-rounder at the Senior Bowl, and his Combine has obviously opened more eyes. We could see him drafted in the top 20, perhaps even higher.
