Falcons traded up to select Washington CB Desmond Trufant with the No. 22 overall pick, sending the No. 30, 92 and 198 overall picks to the Rams.
Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff wheels and deals with his former employee Les Snead, giving up more for the No. 22 pick than the Cowboys got for No. 18. Trufant fills one of Atlanta's biggest needs, and should slide in as an immediate starter opposite LCB Asante Samuel. Trufant (5-foot-11 5/8, 190) started 46 games for the Huskies, notching six picks. Longtime Seahawks CB Marcus' younger brother, Desmond ran 4.38 at the Combine with a 1.47 ten-yard split and 37.5-inch vertical. Trufant has exceptional feet, fluidity and the speed to stay in the receiver's hip pocket, but lacks physicality a la Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Apr 25 - 10:38 PM

The St. Paul Pioneer Press expects the Vikings to use of their two first-round picks on a cornerback.

The Vikings cut top corner Antoine Winfield, and in-house CBs Chris Cook, Josh Robinson, and A.J. Jefferson have been far too inconsistent. Minnesota holds the Nos. 23 and 25 selections on Thursday. Names to keep an eye on are Washington's Desmond Trufant, Houston's D.J. Hayden, and Florida State's Xavier Rhodes.

Washington CB Desmond Trufant ran forty times of 4.31 and 4.38 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

The forty times are nothing short of outstanding for a 6-foot, 190-pound corner. Trufant has good-not-great game tape, but he'll move up draft boards because his offseason has been spectacular. By all accounts, Trufant looked every bit a first-rounder at the Senior Bowl, and his Combine has obviously opened more eyes. We could see him drafted in the top 20, perhaps even higher.
