Browns FS Jordan Poyer suffered a lacerated kidney Week 6 against the Titans.

Poyer took a big hit attempting to cover a punt Sunday. He was initially announced as out with a concussion, but the laceration was discovered after he was taken to the hospital. Poyer was kept overnight for observation, but he is in stable condition. He is likely done for the season.

Browns FS Jordan Poyer left Sunday's Week 6 game against the Titans with a concussion.

He left after getting crushed on a blind side hit by Antonio Andrews while defending a second-quarter punt return. Poyer was taken to a hospital and will not be returning this afternoon. He contributed three tackles before exiting.

Browns FS Jordan Poyer added eight pounds this offseason.

Poyer weighs in at about 194 pounds after playing around 186 last season. A starter for the first time in his career, Poyer will hope the extra weight will allow him to stand up better against the run, where he struggled last year. With Ibraheim Campbell expected to start opposite Poyer, the Browns will sport a completely new safety duo after parting with Tashaun Gipson and Donte Whitner.

Browns FS Jordan Poyer has the "inside track" to start.

A converted corner, Poyer showed some playmaking ability (22 tackles, 2 interceptions) in four starts for Tashaun Gibson last year. He struggled against the run and could still end up in sub packages. The Browns added Rahim Moore to compete with Poyer on early downs.

Browns claimed DB Jordan Poyer off waivers from the Eagles.

The Browns announced they'll convert Poyer from cornerback to safety. A seventh-round pick out of Oregon State, Poyer is likelier to audition for special teams work in Cleveland. He only played 17 snaps on defense in Philadelphia.

Eagles waived CB Jordan Poyer.

A seventh-round pick, Poyer had been relegated to special teams the last five weeks after playing 17 defensive snaps in the season opener. The Eagles were considering moving him to safety prior to his release and will re-sign him to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

The Eagles have talked with seventh-round CB Jordan Poyer about moving to safety.

Poyer played safety as a freshman at Oregon State. It's unlikely that he'll make the position switch this season, but it wouldn't be a bad idea since there were questions about his speed coming out of college. After playing 17 defensive snaps in the opener, Poyer has been relegated to strictly special teams work.

Former Eagles scout John Middlekauff expects seventh-round Jordan Poyer to give Brandon Boykin a "run for his money" at No. 3 corner.

New coach Chip Kelly handpicked the physical Poyer, who he knows well from the "Civil War" rivalry between Oregon and Oregon State. Poyer (6'0/191) does have the size edge that Kelly desires on Boykin (5'9/182), but his overall athleticism leaves something to be desired. Boykin is certainly the favorite heading into camp.

Eagles agreed to terms with No. 218 overall pick CB Jordan Poyer on a four-year contract.

Poyer was viewed as a mid-round prospect, but underwhelming measurables dropped him all the way to the seventh round. He isn't a great athlete, but Poyer is a physical player who can play inside and outside.

Eagles selected Oregon State CB Jordan Poyer with the No. 218 overall pick.

Poyer (5-foot-11 7/8, 191) tied for second nationally in interceptions (7) last season and picked off 13 in his career as a three-year starter. He added two forced fumbles and seven tackles for loss, also returning a punt for a touchdown as a junior. Poyer ran 4.54 in Indy with an underwhelming 30.5-inch vertical and isn't a great athlete, but he is a physical corner with ballhawking traits. Poyer looks like a steal in the seventh round; many draftniks considered him a day-two prospect at worst.

Oregon State CB Jordan Poyer ran forty times of 4.46 and 4.50 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Poyer stands 6-foot, 191 and intercepted seven passes as a college senior before showing well in practices and the Senior Bowl game at Mobile. Most draftniks did not expect Poyer to run this well. Poyer's combination of size and speed may lead NFL teams to project him as a future No. 2-caliber corner starter.
