Seventh-round Bills TE Chris Gragg's college teammate Ryan Mallett compares him to Aaron Hernandez.
"(It's) because of our size and the things that we do," the 6-foot-3, 244-pound Gragg said of the comparison. "(Hernandez) really doesn’t block that much. Our size is similar, but they say I’m a little bit faster." Gragg is indeed faster, clocking a juicy 4.50 40-yard dash at the Combine. Hernandez ran a 4.64 at his 2010 Pro Day. Coach Doug Marrone anticipates Gragg creating matchup problems. "He’s got 4.5 speed and I think he can stretch the field vertically." With Scott Chandler on the mend from a torn ACL, Gragg could get on the field as a pass-catcher early this season. May 13 - 12:10 PM

Date:

Bills agreed to terms with No. 222 overall pick TE Chris Gragg on a four-year contract.

Gragg (6-foot-2 3/4, 244) led all tight ends at the Combine with a 4.50 forty, 37.5-inch vertical, and 10-foot-5 broad jump. He isn't going to block anyone, and Gragg plays the position more like a receiver. Gragg is super athletic, and he'll be another weapon in a Buffalo offense that lacked them last season.

Bills selected Arkansas TE Chris Gragg with the No. 222 overall pick.

Gragg (6-foot-2 3/4, 244) caught 72 passes for 1,003 yards (13.9 YPR) and seven touchdowns in four seasons with the Razorbacks. He was injury prone and underutilized in the Petrino offenses, although Gragg seemed to be coming on with a 41/518/2 line as a junior before knee and hip injuries cost him seven games as a senior. Gragg rehabbed his stock at the Combine by leading all tight ends in the forty (4.50), vertical (37.5"), and broad jump (10-foot-5). Gragg isn't going to block anyone, but obviously has NFL-caliber athleticism. The Bills continue to add speed on offense, and Gragg can be a movable receiving piece.
Apr 27 - 6:13 PM

Arkansas TE Chris Gragg led all tight ends at the Combine with a forty-yard dash time of 4.50.

Gragg, who goes 6-foot-2 1/2 and 244 pounds, also led the field in the vertical (37 1/2") and broad jump (10'5") while managing a respectable 18 bench reps of 225 pounds. Gragg battled injuries in college, but posted a 41/518/2 line as a junior before missing seven games as a senior. Some team will probably jump on Gragg in the mid to late rounds because he's so athletic.
