Theo Riddick rushed four times for 12 yards in Sunday's Week 14 loss at Philadelphia.
With Reggie Bush (calf) unable to go, Riddick was Joique Bell's caddy. But even though Bell lost two red-zone fumbles early on, the Lions never turned the reins over to the sixth-round rookie out of Notre Dame. Sun, Dec 8, 2013 05:27:00 PM

Theo Riddick rushed one time for seven yards and caught a seven-yard pass in Week 8 against the Cowboys.

Riddick played just two snaps in the win but touched the ball on both. He's rushed three times for five yards and caught two passes for 15 yards through his first six career appearances, playing just 21 snaps. The sixth-round rookie out of Notre Dame is the No. 3 back and remains a Dynasty stash as a back who works well in space. With RB/FB Montell Owens returning from short-term I.R. this week, Riddick may find it even harder to get on the field in 2013.

Lions RB Theo Riddick (concussion) returned to practice Friday, and the Detroit Free Press believes he could play a "slightly" bigger role than usual in Week 7 against the Bengals.

It's because Joique Bell (ribs) is banged up and was limited in practice all week. Bell is tentatively expected to be active for Week 7, but no Lions running back is worth a fantasy start this week beyond obvious RB1 Reggie Bush.

Lions RB Theo Riddick (concussion) has not resumed practicing.

Both Riddick and TE Tony Scheffler sustained concussions against the Packers. They're unlikely to suit up in Week 6. Mikel Leshoure figures to fill in as the No. 3 back.

Reserve RB Theo Riddick was forced from Detroit's Week 5 game against the Packers with a concussion, and will not return.

Riddick wasn't playing on offense, but it leaves the Lions thin at running back with Mikel Leshoure a healthy scratch. Riddick is week to week.

MLive.com believes Lions sixth-round RB Theo Riddick could be Joique Bell's top backup this week, ahead of Mikel Leshoure, if Reggie Bush (knee) sits out.

Riddick has been on the active 46-man roster for game days over Leshoure the first two weeks mainly because he contributes on special teams. OC Scott Linehan thinks Riddick has "some of the effect that maybe a Reggie might do" as a rusher and receiver out of the backfield. It's looking like Leshoure has no future in Detroit. He's a candidate to be traded ahead of October's deadline.

The Detroit Free Press believes Lions sixth-round RB Theo Riddick has already secured a roster spot.

Riddick rushed just four times for 12 yards in Friday's preseason opener, but has been impressing with his ability between-the-tackles. He's also contributed on returns. Riddick will likely open the season as Detroit's fourth running back, but could push Mikel Leshoure if he continues to show well in camp.

DetroitLions.com reports sixth-round RB Theo Riddick has been impressing with his ability to run between-the-tackles.

"He doesn't run the ball like a rookie," Reggie Bush said. "He has very good vision and he's a natural runner in-between the tackles." The Lions have been pumping up Riddick all week, sending perhaps a not-so-subtle message to Mikel Leshoure. We're not suggesting it will happen, but it wouldn't be stunning if Riddick stole Leshoure's roster spot with an impressive preseason.

Sixth-round RB Theo Riddick was mostly working behind undrafted free agent Steven Miller in Lions rookie minicamp.

It may have just been a way for the Lions to get a longer look at Miller, but it's proof Riddick's roster spot is far from assured. With Reggie Bush, Mikel Leshoure and Joique Bell all locks for roster spots, Riddick is going to have to be on his game in training camp.

Lions agreed to terms with No. 199 overall pick RB Theo Riddick on a four-year, $2.25 million contract.

The feature back for the BCS runner-up Notre Dame Fighting Irish last season, Riddick is a former receiver who nevertheless clocked a mediocre 4.68 in the 40-yard dash. He'll have to show very well in camp to earn a roster spot behind Reggie Bush, Mikel Leshoure and Joique Bell. The practice squad is Riddick's most likely destination.

Lions selected Notre Dame RB Theo Riddick with the No. 199 overall pick.

Riddick (5-10, 201) was the Irish's lead back in 2012, playing ahead of Cierre Wood as he rushed 190 times for 917 yards (4.83 YPC) and five scores. Riddick played receiver earlier in his career, compiling 120 catches for 1,263 yards (10.5 YPR) with eight receiving TDs. Riddick is a straight-linish, downhill runner with 4.68 wheels and some stiffness, despite his versatility. He's like a poor man's Dexter McCluster with less return value and lateral shake. He'll have to earn his roster spot in camp.
