Theo Riddick hauled in 5-of-7 targets for 45 yards in the Lions' Week 6 loss to the Saints.
He also rushed twice for eight yards. This was a game Riddick should have dominated considering the Lions were down big almost from the first kick, so this was a bit of a disappointing performance, especially considering one of his targets bounce off his hands for an interception. The stat line was still better than most we have seen from him this season, but this very well could be his ceiling at this point. Riddick will be just a PPR option after the bye. Oct 15 - 6:00 PM

Theo Riddick rushed twice for eight yards and caught 4-of-5 targets for 45 yards in the Lions' Week 5 loss to the Panthers.

Riddick showed nifty open-field moves on a 21-yard reception, but the Lions haven't made a commitment to feeding him the rock so far this season. He has reached double-digit touches in just 1-of-5 games. Even against the Saints in Week 6, Riddick will be a low-floor flex option specific to PPR leagues.
Oct 8 - 4:44 PM

Lions OC Jim Bob Cooter blamed defenses scheming against Theo Riddick on Riddick's dip in production through four weeks.

"I wouldn’t say defenses are drastically changing their structure, but every now and then there might be a vital call where Theo may have been one-on-one in the past and now he’s sort of doubled," Cooter said. "He's had success receiving the ball in this league especially and he’s getting attention for it." Riddick played a season-low 25.7% of the snaps in Week 4 and has just nine touches over the last two weeks. If his snaps don't rise in Week 5, he can be cut in 12-team leagues.
Oct 6 - 9:50 AM

Theo Riddick played 18-of-70 snaps (26 percent) Week 4 against the Vikings.

It is both his lowest snap total and share of the season after Riddick had played over 40 percent of the snaps in each of the previous two games. Perhaps the nature of the game and Ameer Abdullah's success contributed to the low snap count, but Riddick now has just nine touches in the last two weeks and has yet to surpass 38 total yards this season. He is not a must-hold in standard formats.
Oct 2 - 8:30 AM

Theo Riddick rushed four times for four yards and caught 1-of-2 targets for eight yards in the Lions' Week 4 win over the Vikings.

It's been all downhill for Riddick since Week 1, when he saw seven targets and scored a touchdown. He's managed just eight catches for 63 scoreless yards in the three games since. It appeared the Lions were giving Ameer Abdullah more chances in this one, as he caught 3-of-4 targets for 15 yards and scored a red-zone touchdown as a ball carrier. Riddick is typically the preferred back in those situations. Riddick is getting close to droppable in non-PPR leagues.
Oct 1 - 5:41 PM

Theo Riddick caught 4-of-9 targets for 38 yards in the Lions' Week 3 loss to the Falcons.

He didn't register a carry. Riddick took a couple big hits on some of his targets, but his nine looks were second-highest on the team behind Golden Tate's 11. Riddick was targeted on first-and-goal from the one-yard line late in the fourth quarter, but he's now had back-to-back down games after scoring a touchdown in the opener. Riddick will be a RB3/4 next week at the Vikings.
Sep 24 - 5:14 PM

Theo Riddick rushed nine times for 20 yards and caught all three of his targets for 17 yards in the Lions' Week 2 win over the Giants.

Riddick didn't get much going. He got all of the clock-killing carries late in the fourth quarter after Ameer Abdullah appeared to tweak his ankle following a 34-yard run earlier on the drive. Riddick should be able to rack up more than a handful of grabs in a shootout against the Falcons in Week 3.
Sep 18 - 11:47 PM

Theo Riddick hauled in 6-of-7 targets for 27 yards and a touchdown in the Lions' Week 1 win over the Cardinals.

He lost a yard on his only rush. Arizona did a pretty good job bottling up the pass catcher, but Riddick made a great play to get into the end zone. With four Cardinals closing in, Riddick was able to make one tackler miss and fight through three others to score from seven yards out. Still clearly the passing-down back of choice, Riddick will be a solid FLEX option in PPR all season.
Sep 10 - 5:16 PM

Theo Riddick (wrist) made his preseason debut in Friday's game against the Patriots.

Riddick played eight snaps and had just two touches before being removed. The Lions were easing him in after sitting out the first two preseason games. Riddick isn't going to be a major threat to Ameer Abdullah's workload, but should remain a PPR asset. Golden Tate's move to the slot is a concern for Riddick's targets.
Aug 25 - 9:32 PM

Theo Riddick (wrist surgeries) is practicing in a red, no-contact jersey at Lions camp.

Riddick only recently recovered from offseason surgery on both of his wrists, so the Lions are easing him into practice. Riddick will retain the same role in which he's averaged over five catches per game the past two seasons.
Jul 31 - 1:01 AM

Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official website expects Theo Riddick to be even more involved in the red zone this season.

Anquan Boldin, now a free agent, was third in the NFL with 22 red-zone targets last season, so there is a massive piece of the pie to be accounted for in Detroit. While Eric Ebron figures to see an uptick in scoring-area looks, Riddick also stands to gain quite a bit after catching all five of his touchdowns in the red zone last year. Detroit's running back situation is a tough one to figure out, but finding the guy who has the best chance to score touchdowns is a great place to start. Riddick is one of OC Jim Bob Cooter's favorite weapons near the end zone.
Jul 26 - 9:49 AM

ESPN Lions reporter Michael Rothstein said don't expect Theo Riddick (wrists) to "do much" at OTAs.

Riddick is coming off surgeries on both wrists and the Lions have a reputation of bringing players along slowly after injuries. Per Rothstein, the goal is to have Riddick ready "by some point in August." Riddick will fill his usual role on passing downs when healthy.

May 28 - 10:17 AM

Theo Riddick underwent surgery on both of his wrists after the season.

The injuries cost Riddick the final four games of last season, and they might prevent him from participating in the offseason program. While roles throughout the rest of Detroit's backfield remain in flux and could be affected by the draft, Riddick should be locked in as the team's passing-down specialist. Under OC Jim Bob Cooter, the Lions have embraced a quick-pass offense that suits Riddick's skill set. He will again be a worthwhile mid-round investment in 2017 PPR drafts.
Mar 26 - 2:53 PM

Lions placed RB Theo Riddick (wrist) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Riddick hadn't played since Week 13 and was already ruled out for Sunday night's game. He won't be available if the Lions advance to the playoffs. Zach Zenner and Dwayne Washington will remain a committee in Riddick's place.

Theo Riddick (wrist) is out for Week 17 against the Packers.

This will be his fourth straight absence. Zach Zenner and Dwayne Washington will lead the backfield in his absence, though Zenner is the more appealing fantasy option of the two.
