Theo Riddick (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
Riddick suffered a setback with his hamstring in Sunday's win, leaving his status up in the air for Week 5. He could see carries behind Reggie Bush this week with Joique Bell (concussion) sidelined. Riddick will be updated again on Thursday. Oct 1 - 4:19 PM

Date:

Lions RB Theo Riddick was forced from the team's Week 4 game against the Jets.

Riddick aggravated the hamstring injury he had been dealing with this week in practice. He is out for the rest of the game.

Theo Riddick (hamstring) is listed as probable for Week 4.

Riddick was added to the injury report Friday after practicing on a limited basis. The fact that he's listed as probable means he should play against the Jets. Riddick is unlikely to see touches behind Joique Bell and Reggie Bush.
Sep 26 - 4:41 PM

Lions RB Theo Riddick was stuffed for no gain on his lone Week 2 carry.

We heard for much of the offseason how Riddick would be "more involved," but he has four yards on two touches through two games. He has no fantasy value, and isn't even an appealing stash in Dynasty leagues.
Sep 14 - 5:35 PM

Theo Riddick had two carries for one yard in Friday night's preseason game against the Jaguars, adding two catches for six yards.

The box-score stats are misleading. Riddick saw time with the first team and played on Detroit's third series, ahead of Mikel Leshoure. He lined up as a receiver in four-wide sets and was featured in dual-back packages with Joique Bell. Riddick had a red-zone carry over Bell in the second quarter. OC Joe Lombardi appears to be employing a three-back committee similar to the Saints. Reggie Bush and Bell owners can handcuff with Riddick in the late rounds.

Theo Riddick (abdomen) returned to Lions practice Monday.

Riddick left Detroit's preseason opener early with an abdominal injury, but should be fine now. He's the No. 3 back behind Joique Bell and Reggie Bush.
Aug 11 - 3:33 PM

Lions RB Theo Riddick was forced from Saturday's preseason opener with an abdominal injury.

Riddick entered the game on the Lions' second series, splitting time with Joique Bell and Mikel Leshoure. Riddick suffered the injury on his only touch, a nine-yard reception. He took a thundering hit from Donte Whitner, but managed to hold onto the ball for a first down. It didn't have the looks of an overly serious injury. Riddick should be considered questionable for the Lions' second exhibition tilt next Friday. A practice darling, Riddick needs to put some big plays on tape this preseason to solidify an offensive role.
Aug 9 - 9:05 PM

Running backs coach Curtis Modkins said Theo Riddick could get snaps as a slot receiver this season.

Riddick has been buzzing throughout the offseason as a player the Lions really like, but it's hard to see him stealing too many snaps from Joique Bell or Reggie Bush. There is a hole in the slot though, as Kevin Ogletree and Ryan Broyles are far from entrenched. Riddick's skill set in the Lions' new Saints-esque scheme is worth watching in Dynasty formats.
Aug 3 - 9:35 AM

Backup QB Dan Orlovsky expects Theo Riddick to serve in a Darren Sproles-like role for the Lions.

We're a bit loath to post about a No. 2 quarterback praising a No. 3 running back, but this isn't the first we've heard of a Sproles-type role for Riddick. "(Riddick), he wasn’t covered a single time in OTAs and minicamp," Orlovsky said. "And I think that it’s even going to be easier for him when he gets pads on because, once linebackers just try to start colliding him, and that’s what teams started to do with Sproles sometimes. ... You hit the home run once every 10 plays, and then 9 out of 10 times, Sproles wins. And that’s what I think Theo’s going to do for us." Riddick is unlikely to make a re-draft impact behind Reggie Bush and Joique Bell, but is becoming a more-attractive target in Dynasty leagues.
Jul 7 - 2:56 PM

Reggie Bush said second-year RB Theo Riddick will be used a lot more this season.

Riddick played just 49 snaps last season as a sixth-round rookie, but there's talk he could be used in the Darren Sproles role under former Saints assistant turned Lions OC Joe Lombardi. NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah is calling Riddick his "favorite sleeper" for 2014. It's a situation to monitor, but there are a ton of mouths to feed in Detroit now. Riddick will likely have to wait until the Lions move on from the 29-year-old Bush before getting a truly significant chance.
Jun 9 - 11:23 AM

Theo Riddick rushed four times for 12 yards in Sunday's Week 14 loss at Philadelphia.

With Reggie Bush (calf) unable to go, Riddick was Joique Bell's caddy. But even though Bell lost two red-zone fumbles early on, the Lions never turned the reins over to the sixth-round rookie out of Notre Dame.

Theo Riddick rushed one time for seven yards and caught a seven-yard pass in Week 8 against the Cowboys.

Riddick played just two snaps in the win but touched the ball on both. He's rushed three times for five yards and caught two passes for 15 yards through his first six career appearances, playing just 21 snaps. The sixth-round rookie out of Notre Dame is the No. 3 back and remains a Dynasty stash as a back who works well in space. With RB/FB Montell Owens returning from short-term I.R. this week, Riddick may find it even harder to get on the field in 2013.

Lions RB Theo Riddick (concussion) returned to practice Friday, and the Detroit Free Press believes he could play a "slightly" bigger role than usual in Week 7 against the Bengals.

It's because Joique Bell (ribs) is banged up and was limited in practice all week. Bell is tentatively expected to be active for Week 7, but no Lions running back is worth a fantasy start this week beyond obvious RB1 Reggie Bush.

Lions RB Theo Riddick (concussion) has not resumed practicing.

Both Riddick and TE Tony Scheffler sustained concussions against the Packers. They're unlikely to suit up in Week 6. Mikel Leshoure figures to fill in as the No. 3 back.
Thu, Oct 10, 2013 11:54:00 AM

Reserve RB Theo Riddick was forced from Detroit's Week 5 game against the Packers with a concussion, and will not return.

Riddick wasn't playing on offense, but it leaves the Lions thin at running back with Mikel Leshoure a healthy scratch. Riddick is week to week.
