Free agent K Havard Rugland worked out for the Packers on Friday.
Rugland was cut by the Lions on Tuesday and went through waivers unclaimed. Despite converting just 21-of-33 (58.8 percent) field-goal attempts last year, Mason Crosby is the favorite to be Green Bay's Week 1 kicker after agreeing to a restructured contract. Fri, Aug 30, 2013 06:40:00 PM

Lions waived K Havard Rugland and CB De'Quan Menzie.

Rugland proved more than a mere YouTube sensation. "Kickalicious" showed better than expected leg strength and accuracy at camp, but was never going to beat out David Akers for the placekicking job. Menzie was a fifth-round pick of the Chiefs in 2012 that the Lions claimed off waivers back in May.

Coach Jim Schwartz said K Havard Rugland impressed at Lions OTAs and minicamp.

Rugland's claim to fame is a YouTube trick-kick video that went viral and landed him a chance with the Lions. He was the primary kicker this offseason as David Akers nursed a hip injury. Akers is fully expected to be back for training camp and win the job.
