Seahawks CB Tharold Simon could need offseason shoulder surgery.
Simon will likely miss the majority of OTAs if he requires surgery, and should be considered questionable for training camp. With RCB Byron Maxwell possibly leaving in free agency and Jeremy Lane coming off a torn ACL, Marcus Burley is Seattle's only healthy corner behind Richard Sherman. Feb 21 - 9:23 PM

Seahawks CB Tharold Simon is expected have "minor" knee surgery this week.

Coach Pete Carroll doesn't believe the injury is a long-term issue. It explains why Seattle traded a sixth-round pick to the Colts for Marcus Burley. Jeremy Lane will play in nickel packages against Green Bay Thursday night.

ESPN 710 Seattle reports Seahawks CB Tharold Simon has "generated more buzz than any player over the past month."

With Walter Thurmond and Brandon Browner gone, Simon is competing for Seattle's nickel corner job. Third-year CB Jeremy Lane and Phillip Adams are also in the mix. If Simon wins the job, Byron Maxwell would likely move inside in sub-packages. Simon is a potential breakout candidate in Seattle's Cover-3. He spent 2013 sidelined with a foot injury.

The Seattle Times' Jayson Jenks said second-year CB Tharold Simon had "the best day of any player" at Seahawks OTAs Thursday.

6-foot-3 Simon went high to pick off two passes and earned praise from Richard Sherman when he forced a running play back inside. Simon spent all of 2013 sidelined with a foot injury, but he has been pegged as a player ready to step up this season. He will compete for outside corner duties in Seattle's sub-packages.

Seahawks DB coach Kris Richard considers second-year CB Tharold Simon a candidate to "step up" this season.

A 2013 fifth-round pick, Simon spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve after foot surgery. With the Seahawks losing Brandon Browner and Walter Thurmond to free agency, Simon will get a chance to compete for playing time in sub-packages. Simon has the prototype size for Seattle's Cover 3 scheme, and could play his way into nickel or dime duties at outside corner.

Seahawks CB Tharold Simon recently had another foot surgery.

Simon missed his entire rookie campaign with injuries in both of his feet. It's concerning that he's still dealing with the issue six months later. The fifth-rounder will be trying to get right and win a job on special teams in training camp.

According to Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, rookie CB Tharold Simon is dealing with a "stress-fracture-looking thing" in his foot.

"He did practice with us and he looked really good," Carroll said. "He could go full speed, but his foot still bothered him. It’s just something that hasn’t been attended to with the way we’re going to try to and see if we can make it go away." Provided he's healthy, Simon will look to nail down a special teams job in training camp.

Seahawks signed No. 138 overall pick CB Tharold Simon to a four-year contract.

GM John Schneider said the Seahawks are "comfortable" with fifth-round rookie CB Tharold Simon's legal situation.

Simon was arrested last Thursday night for public intimidation, resisting an officer and a noise violation. His attorneys are confident the charges will be dropped. Simon insists that the officers overreacted and he says he has 30 witnesses. We wouldn't expect any league discipline to come down here -- especially because Simon wasn't on a team when the incident went down.

Seahawks selected LSU CB Tharold Simon with the No. 138 overall pick.

Simon (6-foot-2, 202) took over as the Tigers' No. 1 corner in 2012, following Mo Claiborne's exit and Tyrann Mathieu's dismissal. Simon recorded four interceptions as a 13-game starter, but showed hip tightness and does not change directions smoothly. He profiles as a press corner with plus size and straight-line speed (4.51). Simon would inevitably struggle in zones and off-man. He won't have to do that in Seattle's press-heavy scheme. Joining a loaded roster, Simon is being added for depth and potential special teams impact.

LSU CB Tharold Simon was arrested and charged with public intimidation, resisting an officer and unnecessary noise violation in his native Eunice, La. late Thursday evening.

Whoops. Considered a day-three prospect after skipping his senior season, Simon is now in danger of going undrafted. According to the police report, Simon "backed (his) vehicle in an aggressive manner" after being asked to move it out of the street, and told his arresting officer that he "(owned) Eunice." Gobsmacking stupidity.
