Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell said Thursday he hopes second-year WR Ace Sanders turns into a "Darren Sproles type."
Sanders showed well with 51 catches for 484 yards and a touchdown during his rookie campaign, flashing glimpses of the playmaking ability Caldwell is looking for. Sanders would have to become a bigger part of the Jags' offense and develop into a better red-zone threat to be on the re-draft radar. The latter is difficult to imagine because Sanders stands in at 5-foot-7, 173. Feb 6 - 10:27 PM

Ace Sanders caught six balls for 50 yards in the Jaguars' Week 17 loss to the Colts.

A fourth-round rookie out of South Carolina, Sanders ends his first NFL season with 51 receptions for 484 yards and one touchdown, starting five games following Justin Blackmon's suspension and Cecil Shorts' year-ending groin tear. Sanders is a 5-foot-7, 178-pound jitterbug-type slot receiver with a better chance to be a real-life contributor for the Jaguars than a big-time fantasy asset down the road. Keep an eye on Sanders' development in his first full NFL offseason, but he likely won't be worth a fantasy re-draft pick in 2014.

Ace Sanders caught four passes for 20 yards in Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Titans.

Sanders was used all over the field, but was held in check by the Titans. Despite being mostly limited to slot duties and not playing on every snap, he's the Jaguars' No. 1 option in the passing game with Cecil Shorts sidelined. Sanders split playing time with Kerry Taylor in two-wide sets and was targeted five times by Chad Henne. Jacksonville will finish off their regular season against the Colts in Week 17.

Ace Sanders caught two passes for 17 yards and one touchdown in Week 15 against the Bills.

Sanders was targeted just three times but secured his first career receiving touchdown. On the 12-yard score, Sanders caught a swing pass out to the left and danced past a couple defenders on his way to the end zone. The Jaguars want to utilize Sanders more, but he's just a WR4/5 for fantasy purposes.

Ace Sanders caught three passes for 26 yards in Jacksonville's Week 14 win over the Texans, adding a 21-yard passing touchdown on a trick play.

Sanders also lined up in the backfield on a few snaps, rushing once for no gain. Sanders' touchdown probably should have been picked by Texans S D.J. Swearinger, but Jordan Todman managed to come down with a contested pass that Sanders threw across the entire field. Sanders has started flashing his play-making ability with greater regularity in recent weeks, but the Jags still don't seem entirely certain how to get him the ball. He drew only six targets this evening. He'll be a WR4/5 for PPR purposes in Week 15.

Coach Gus Bradley said the Jags are "incorporating more things to utilize Ace's strengths."

At 5'7/173, Sanders is not your typical No. 2 wideout. So the Jags have been installing plays to get him in mismatches, including lining him up in the backfield. Over the last three weeks, Sanders has caught 20 passes for 189 yards on 26 targets. Now clearly ahead of Mike Brown in terms of the gameplan (not snaps played), the rookie will be a PPR WR4 against the Texans on Thursday night.

Ace Sanders caught eight passes for 67 yards in Week 13 against Cleveland.

Sanders and Cecil Shorts each saw a team-high 11 targets, but Sanders led the team in receptions in yards. He was used a lot out of the backfield on flare-out routes and in the slot on short crossing plays. He picked up multiple first downs with big third-down catches and is starting to come into his own a bit. Sanders has some WR4 appeal in PPR leagues. He's gone over 60 yards receiving in three straight games. Sanders and the Jags host Houston on Thursday night.

Ace Sanders caught four passes for 61 yards in Jacksonville's Week 12 win over the Texans.

The 61 yards matched Sanders' Week 11 total, but he struggled to make a mark on the game after catching two passes for 53 yards on Jacksonville's opening drive. Sanders drew just five targets. Even if Mike Brown isn't ready to return for next week's game against the Browns, Sanders will be a low-end WR4 for PPR purposes.

Ace Sanders has struggled when asked to play outside.

The 5'7/173 Sanders has performed reasonably well when in his natural slot position, but the injuries to Mike Brown/Stephen Burton and the suspension to Justin Blackmon have left the Jags desperate. A slower version of Dexter McCluster, owners shouldn't be chasing Sanders' 8/61/0 line from Week 11. We've seen the ceiling.

Ace Sanders caught eight passes for 61 yards in Jacksonville's Week 11 loss to the Cardinals.

Sanders had just 16 catches on the season coming into Week 11, but was thrust into duty after a team already missing Stephen Burton lost Mike Brown to a shoulder injury. The slot man drew a team-leading 10 targets. With Brown's status up in the air, Sanders is worth a flier as a WR5 in PPR leagues, but nothing more.

Jaguars rookie WR Ace Sanders caught one pass for 11 yards in Sunday's Week 8 loss to San Francisco.

Sanders appears to have settled in as the Jaguars' No. 4 receiver behind Cecil Shorts, Justin Blackmon, and Mike Brown. The fourth-round rookie is only worth fantasy consideration in deep Dynasty leagues. Through eight games, Sanders is on pace for 32 receptions and 364 yards without a touchdown.

Ace Sanders (probable, concussion) has been cleared to play in Week 8.

Sanders passed his concussion protocol Wednesday and was able to return to a full week of practice. He figures to make most of an impact on special teams and will likely see limited snaps behind Mike Brown in three-wide sets.

Ace Sanders (concussion) has resumed practicing.

Sanders was playing a ton of snaps in the slot, but Mike Brown (back) has returned and earned a role in three-wide sets. Sanders won't have a major offensive role against the 49ers Sunday.

Jaguars rookie WR Ace Sanders (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 7 against the Chargers.

Sanders has been a disappointment through six games, and is now on the shelf. The Jags are banged up at wide receiver behind go-to guy Justin Blackmon.

Ace Sanders (concussion symptoms) is not practicing Wednesday.

Sanders played on 64-of-74 snaps against the Broncos last week, so it looks like his concussion wasn't diagnosed until after the game. Regardless, the undersized slot man produced just one catch for nine yards on two targets. Mike Brown stepped in for Cecil Shorts (clavicle) and had a 4/49/0 line on six targets.
