Browns signed WR Josh Boyce.
Dennis Parks was waived in the corresponding move. Boyce opened camp with the Colts but was waived last week. The former fourth-round pick hasn't played an NFL snap since 2014. It's a coin flip whether he survives the last round of cuts. Aug 21 - 11:25 AM

Colts waived WR Josh Boyce.

This is a bit surprising considering Boyce was seeing snaps as the No. 4 receiver in camp. It is possible he is dealing with an injury. A fourth-round pick of the Patriots in 2013, Boyce has not played in a game since 2014.

Colts signed WRs Josh Boyce and Brian Tyms, formerly of the Patriots.

OG Ben Heenan has been waived. Boyce couldn't survive the Pats' final cuts in 2014 and spent 2015 on injured reserve. The 2013 fourth-rounder will fight for one of the final spots in the Colts' deep receiver corps.

Updating a previous item, Patriots waived/injured WR Josh Boyce.

It was initially reported that Boyce was flat-out cut. Instead, he'll pass through waivers and head to the Patriots I.R. list, where he'll either miss the entire season or later be released with an injury settlement. It'll probably be the latter.

Patriots waived WR Josh Boyce, WR Jonathan Krause, TE Jimmay Mundine, DL Joe Vellano and LB Dekoda Watson.

A 2013 fourth-rounder, it's the second year in a row Boyce hasn't survived through final cuts. Although Boyce ended up making one 2014 appearance, this should be the end of the line for his time with the Patriots. Boyce has serious speed, but has dealt with injuries, and never got in rhythm with Tom Brady.

ESPN's Mike Reiss doesn't expect WR Josh Boyce to make the Patriots' 53-man roster.

With the signing of Reggie Wayne, Reiss has the Patriots keeping Julian Edelman, Wayne, Danny Amendola, and Aaron Dobson, while Brandon LaFell opens the year on reserve/PUP. Boyce, a 2013 fourth-rounder, has long been impressive in practice settings, but he had a nightmare of a preseason opener, dropping passes and showing zero chemistry with backup Jimmy Garoppolo.

Third-year WR Josh Boyce had a nightmare outing in Thursday’s preseason loss to the Packers, logging just two catches for 19 yards on a game-high 11 targets.

Boyce was a train wreck from start to finish. He dropped passes, gave up on his routes and just didn’t fight hard enough for the ball. Boyce showed zero chemistry with Jimmy Garoppolo, who for some reason insisted on throwing him the deep ball. There’s no question Boyce has great speed but he wasn’t fooling anyone in the Packers’ secondary. This would have been a good chance for Boyce to showcase himself with Julian Edelman, Brandon LaFell and Brian Tyms all sitting out with injuries. Instead it's back to the drawing board for the third-year wideout.

Third-year WR Josh Boyce has reportedly gotten off to a good start at Patriots training camp.

Boyce said practicing against Darrelle Revis last season helped improve his route running. "If all of your routes look the same, they don’t know what you’re running," said Boyce. Beat writer Jeff Howe said Boyce has shown "blazing speed" and "hits a home run on a deep ball every couple of practices." Boyce best projects as a sub-package receiver and special teams player.

Patriots promoted WR Josh Boyce from the practice squad.

It's a sign that Julian Edelman (concussion) and Brandon LaFell (shoulder) could be held out or play limited snaps. Boyce has been on the practice squad all year and will make his 2014 debut if active. The Patriots placed CB Alfonzo Dennard on I.R. in a corresponding move.

Patriots waived WR Josh Boyce.

Boyce fell behind Kenbrell Thompkins a year ago and never gained ground. The Patriots will likely try to sneak their 2013 fourth-rounder onto the practice squad, but he's a candidate to get claimed. Boyce ran a 4.38 and posted an explosive 10-foot-11 broad jump at his Combine.

ESPN Boston says WR Josh Boyce hasn't done enough to warrant a roster spot.

Beat man Mike Reiss still projects Boyce to stick on the 53-man roster because it's too early to give up on the second-year man. But he's been outplayed badly over the last two years by Kenbrell Thompkins, and Brian Tyms could even surpass him once off suspension. Boyce is a weak hold in Dynasty formats.

ESPN Boston believes Patriots second-year WR Josh Boyce is at the top of the list of players who need to "step it up" over the final three preseason games.

Boyce played 32 offensive snaps in the preseason opener and caught three of his five targets for 30 yards. But he lined up offsides on one play, negating a third-down conversion. That certainly isn't going to earn him additional reps on a Bill Belichick-coached team. Boyce is competing for one of the final roster spots.

The Boston Globe's Erik Frenz does not project Patriots WR Josh Boyce to make the team.

A fourth-round pick in 2013, Boyce is competing with fellow second-year WR Kenbrell Thompkins for the No. 5 receiver job in New England. Thompkins was more involved in the offense last season -- out-snapping Boyce 589 to 182 -- and has reportedly looked better during spring practices. Boyce needs to show his worth on special teams during training camp to keep his job.

The Boston Globe reports that "it looks like" Josh Boyce and Kenbrell Thompkins may be competing for the No. 5 receiver spot in 2014.

The Patriots appear set one through four with Julian Edelman, Aaron Dobson, Danny Amendola, and Brandon LaFell. Boyce and Thompkins combined to catch 41 passes for 587 yards and four touchdowns as rookies, with Thompkins doing the vast majority of that damage. New England also still has its eyes on veteran wideouts. After the passing game struggled for stretches in 2013, the Patriots are looking to stockpile at receiver and create competition.

Patriots placed WR Josh Boyce on injured reserve with an ankle injury, ending his season.

Boyce hadn't practiced since going down in Week 15. The extent of his injury is unclear, but it's almost certainly a high-ankle sprain. Boyce would have already been placed on injured reserve had he suffered a break. The No. 102 pick of last spring's draft, Boyce caught just nine passes in nine games this season. He was passed on the depth chart by undrafted free agent Kenbrell Thompkins in training camp. He'll be behind Thompkins and Aaron Dobson on the "X" receiver depth chart to begin 2014.
