Titans placed C Brian Schwenke on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.
G/C Eric Olsen has been signed in a corresponding roster move. Schwenke has a torn left MCL. Schwenke had started all 11 games this season, missing only one snap before Week 12. He was playing at a sub-replacement level, however. A second-year fourth rounder, Schwenke is signed cheaply through 2016, but won't be guaranteed to retain his starting job in 2015. Chris Spencer is the next man up on the depth chart. Tue, Nov 25, 2014 04:09:00 PM

Titans C Brian Schwenke (ankle) is getting reps in team drills during OTAs.

Schwenke is ahead of schedule as he comes off a high-ankle sprain that eventually required a scope. The second-year man who struggled badly in pass protection last year will be with the starting unit when training camp opens.

Titans C Brian Schwenke (ankle scope) is unsure if he'll be ready for OTAs.

"I'll be running in about a month, probably mid-April," Schwenke said. "Hopefully I'll be ready to go by the first mini-camp, but if not, then shortly after that." The second-year fourth-rounder remains penciled in as the Titans' starting center.

Titans C Brian Schwenke needs offseason ankle surgery.

It's expected to be a scope to repair a high ankle sprain Schwenke suffered in early November. Schwenke wound up starting all nine of his appearances and playing down the stretch, but at noticeably less than 100 percent. "It’s just some of the buildup of scar tissues and things like that, from playing on it," he said. Schwenke is likely to return as the Titans' starting center in 2014.

Titans C Brian Schwenke is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain.

Schwenke has already been ruled out for Thursday night's Week 11 tilt with the Colts, meaning he's likely staring at a multi-week absence. Schwenke was a fourth-round pick out of Cal in this past April's draft.

Titans signed No. 107 overall pick C Brian Schwenke to a four-year contract.

The Titans had Schwenke as their No. 1 rated center in the draft, and the team has already made it clear they expect him to compete for a starting position as a rookie.

The Titans expect fourth-round pick Brian Schwenke to "put up a big fight" for the starting center job.

The Titans reportedly "love" Schwenke's "nastiness" and his "ability," and they had him rated as the No. 1 center in the draft. Fernando Velasco is the incumbent starter, and he just signed his one-year, $2.023 million RFA tender. Pro Football Focus graded Velasco out as the league's No. 11 center in 2012, but his salary is not guaranteed. Schwenke should start no later than 2014.

The Titans expect fourth-round C Brian Schwenke to compete with Fernando Velasco.

This is probably just coachspeak since Velasco recently re-signed for $2.023 million and is coming off a strong season, but the Titans will and should consider every possibility along an interior line that's long been a trouble spot. Schwenke's presence does make it more likely that the Titans will allow Velasco to walk next offseason if he's less than stellar this season.

Titans drafted Cal C Brian Schwenke with the No. 107 overall pick.

Schwenke (6-foot-3, 314) started 36 games at Cal, learning to zone block under coach Jeff Tedford. He's a zone-scheme fit. With 32-inch arms, Schwenke will have to stay on the interior in the pros but saw college starts at left guard, center, and right guard. Pac-12 coaches voted him first-team all-conference as a senior center, as Schwenke allowed only three QB hurries and was called for just one penalty. He scored a 31 on the Wonderlic. Schwenke is very quick at snapping and pulling, and will be a part of the transformation for the Titans' interior offensive line.
