Colts signed C Brian Schwenke, formerly of the Titans.
Indy also added DE Margus Hunt, who visited Indy with Schwenke on Monday. A fourth-rounder of the Titans in 2013, Schwenke did not prove to be a starting-caliber center, but he is good depth behind 2016 first-rounder Ryan Kelly. Mar 13 - 9:33 PM

Colts are hosting free agent C Brian Schwenke and free agent DE Margus Hunt on Monday.

A fourth-round pick of the Titans in 2013, Schwenke struggled through injuries and poor play before eventually losing his starting job. He would be just a depth signing behind 2016 first-rounder Ryan Kelly. Despite imposing size, Hunt has not made much of an impact during his four seasons in the league.

The Jets, Titans, and Seahawks are reportedly "on" free agent G/C Brian Schwenke.

This seems like an agent-driven report from NFL Network, but we note those nonetheless. A fourth-round pick in the 2013 draft, Schwenke got destroyed as a starting center his first two seasons with Tennessee, and lost his starting job last year. Schwenke should be signable on a backup-caliber contract.

Titans OL Brian Schwenke saw snaps at left guard during the offseason program.

The former starter at center, Schwenke lost his job when the Titans added Ben Jones in free agency. At worst he should serve as Jones' backup, but he will be given a shot to beat out Quinton Spain at left guard. Sophomore Jeremiah Poutasi and rookie Sebastian Tretola will also be in the mix.

The Titans are concerned with C Brian Schwenke's injury history and may look for an upgrade in free agency.

Schwenke missed time as a 2013 rookie with a high-ankle sprain and needed offseason surgery. In 2014, he tore his MCL and finished the year on I.R. before then dislocating his ankle this past season and again was sent to injured reserve. Schwenke has made just 25-of-48 starts and really hasn't even been good when on the field. Upgrading their line is a focus for the Titans.

Titans C Brian Schwenke requires season-ending surgery for a dislocated left ankle.

Schwenke suffered the injury in stomach-churning fashion against the Dolphins. The third-year pro is in the midst of a rough season, but it's still a big blow for a team that can't get its running game going. Sixth-round rookie Andy Gallik will take over at the pivot. It's the second straight year Schwenke has landed on I.R. His 2014 was ended by a knee injury.

Titans C Brian Schwenke was carted off the field in Week 6 with a fractured left leg.

The injury looked so severe on the field that TV broadcasts were unwilling to show a full replay. Schwenke's season's is over.

Titans placed C Brian Schwenke on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.

G/C Eric Olsen has been signed in a corresponding roster move. Schwenke has a torn left MCL. Schwenke had started all 11 games this season, missing only one snap before Week 12. He was playing at a sub-replacement level, however. A second-year fourth rounder, Schwenke is signed cheaply through 2016, but won't be guaranteed to retain his starting job in 2015. Chris Spencer is the next man up on the depth chart.

Titans C Brian Schwenke (ankle) is getting reps in team drills during OTAs.

Schwenke is ahead of schedule as he comes off a high-ankle sprain that eventually required a scope. The second-year man who struggled badly in pass protection last year will be with the starting unit when training camp opens.

Titans C Brian Schwenke (ankle scope) is unsure if he'll be ready for OTAs.

"I'll be running in about a month, probably mid-April," Schwenke said. "Hopefully I'll be ready to go by the first mini-camp, but if not, then shortly after that." The second-year fourth-rounder remains penciled in as the Titans' starting center.

Titans C Brian Schwenke needs offseason ankle surgery.

It's expected to be a scope to repair a high ankle sprain Schwenke suffered in early November. Schwenke wound up starting all nine of his appearances and playing down the stretch, but at noticeably less than 100 percent. "It’s just some of the buildup of scar tissues and things like that, from playing on it," he said. Schwenke is likely to return as the Titans' starting center in 2014.

Titans C Brian Schwenke is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain.

Schwenke has already been ruled out for Thursday night's Week 11 tilt with the Colts, meaning he's likely staring at a multi-week absence. Schwenke was a fourth-round pick out of Cal in this past April's draft.

Titans signed No. 107 overall pick C Brian Schwenke to a four-year contract.

The Titans had Schwenke as their No. 1 rated center in the draft, and the team has already made it clear they expect him to compete for a starting position as a rookie.

The Titans expect fourth-round pick Brian Schwenke to "put up a big fight" for the starting center job.

The Titans reportedly "love" Schwenke's "nastiness" and his "ability," and they had him rated as the No. 1 center in the draft. Fernando Velasco is the incumbent starter, and he just signed his one-year, $2.023 million RFA tender. Pro Football Focus graded Velasco out as the league's No. 11 center in 2012, but his salary is not guaranteed. Schwenke should start no later than 2014.

The Titans expect fourth-round C Brian Schwenke to compete with Fernando Velasco.

This is probably just coachspeak since Velasco recently re-signed for $2.023 million and is coming off a strong season, but the Titans will and should consider every possibility along an interior line that's long been a trouble spot. Schwenke's presence does make it more likely that the Titans will allow Velasco to walk next offseason if he's less than stellar this season.
